24.01.2022 Weve all heard the news about the spread of the Coronavirus and its far-reaching impacts both here in Australia and around the world. We would like to inform you as to how McGregors is adapting in these rapidly changing circumstances. As you can appreciate, our first priority is to protect the health and safety of our staff and clients and those they care for. We have a number of clients who are susceptible to the serious effects of the Coronavirus and we hope by limiting ...our exposure we can play a part in protecting each other. Our next priority is ensuring our services and support remain uninterrupted during these challenging times when you may need advice and guidance regarding your tax, accounting and investments. Our office will remain open; however, we will not be receiving clients. All appointments and correspondence will be conducted by telephone or email whichever is convenient for you. We will, of course, still be available to answer your calls and act for you as we normally would but will limit face-to-face meetings. We will continue to keep you informed regarding issues that may affect you as clients, and more broadly on our position with social distancing. Please be assured that we are still available to assist you at all times, and that we are continuing to work hard on your behalf. This is a time of great uncertainty, but we will get through it together.

21.01.2022 What a year for McGregors at Merewether SLSC. McGregors were proud to be able to support the juniors program again this year with continued sponsorship of the Club assisting the juniors with the purchase of some new equipment the Nippers desperately needed. One of our own Brendan McNabb was awarded the Juniors Club Person of the Year for his role as Treasurer, Under 10s Age Manager, Under 12s Assistant Age Manger, Water Safety Co-Ordinator as well as patrolling Merewet...her Beach every Month. Brendan was also nominated for Patrol Person of the Year, being pipped at the post by another deserving club member who patrols not only Merewether Beach but Hawks Nest as well. McGregors are looking forward to another safe and fun season next year on Merewether Beach.

09.01.2022 Be Aware - Are you affected? You may have seen news items about various data breaches around the globe. It might not mean much to you and are unsure if you should even be concerned more than usual. The latest data breach, only a day or two ago, potentially involves over 2 Billion records of emails, personal details, passwords, etc. So this is big and the odds of your email address being one of them is high (if not in this breach in another previous). Most of the data breaches... have been to companies that store records for marketing purposes, to wash a list of email addresses against known lists. So generally who cares if they know my email and personal details, most are available in the public domain anyway. Well for a start it is fodder for the hackers to use reliable email lists to target victims. What does this mean to you all from a security risk level? The main security issue is that passwords may be included in these lists as well. And if you are one of those many people that use the same couple of passwords for all your web services, the hackers will be trying the passwords on all the services they can find. As difficult as it is you should use a different password for every service.
