19.01.2022 MEET OUR STAFF I am passionate about my role as a funeral director, a position I have held since 2009. Starting at White Dove Funerals (Murwillumbah and Billinudgel) and continuing with the company after White Dove Funerals was incorporated with McGuiness Funerals in 2013. I was recently honoured with the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow through Mt. Warning AM Rotary Club for my dedication to my profession and service to the community. The nomination was made anonymously ...and came as a complete surprise as I was not a member of Rotary. I have since accepted an invitation to become a member of Murwillumbah’s Mt. Warning AM Rotary Club and am enjoying the opportunity to further assist the people of the community. When a family invites me to assist them in planning the funeral of a loved one, I and McGuiness Funerals strive to meet their requirements. To be entrusted to assist them in fare-welling their loved one by offering as much support as possible through respect, compassion, understanding, and guidance is a privilege. I am grateful to be invited to assist, and pray that in some small way, I have been able to help them during this emotionally difficult time. Annette "Annie" Walters

19.01.2022 White-Cheeked Honeyeater A distinctively obvious bird with its large fan shaped white patch on the side of its face. Easily heard with its loud melodious warbling and its clear double whistle given during display flight. It is found mainly in dense heath or swampy eucalypt woodland in costal lowlands, however in North East Queensland it is confined to tall eucalypt forests in high altitudes. This gregarious, noisy and conspicuous bird is sedentary or a local blossom nomad, highly nectivorous, but also catches insects. All pictures have been taken by Wayne Schulz Manager of McGuiness Funeral's

13.01.2022 Being a Funeral Director was always something I wanted to do as a career and at the age of sixty I seized an opportunity to have a job interview at McGuiness Funerals and was hired as a full-time Funeral Director. I thought if I didn't give it a go I would regret never having tried. I have been here for nearly five and a half years and I am so lucky to have had the honour and the privilege to have helped guide many families through one of the most difficult times in their liv...es. As a born and bred local I know personally many of the families that come through our doors here at McGuiness Funerals and I feel that seeing a familiar face in some way makes them feel a little bit more at ease. I have been a member of Quota, Secretary and President of Brothers Hockey Club and I have been a playing member of Murwillumbah Golf Club for many years and am a self-confessed fanatic when it comes to my golf. I am married to Tony and we have two beautiful daughters, five wonderful Grandchildren and the decision I made to be a Funeral Director has been the best decision I have ever made. Libby Varela

06.01.2022 MEET OUR STAFF My entire working life has been within the walls of the funeral profession, starting as a qualified wood machinist and french polisher working in the family business manufacturing quality coffins and caskets. A career move took me to Mt Thompson Crematorium as Manager before returning to manufacture with Ashton Manufacturing as their Production Mananger and General Manager. Early retirement was briefly considered before accepting the position of Manager of McGuiness Funerals. Of my many work experiences over the past 50 years, my current role as a funeral provider is the most humbling, offering a level of personal satisfaction not previously realised. Wayne Schulz
