17.01.2022 Bit of Saturday Shaft Spam. Nice long 304 stainless shafts coming in hot thanks to our patent pending ( * not confirmed, may be bullshit) Swiss tailstock attachment. Zero chance of getting these done with a centre but our system works a treat. 17.01.2022 Last batch of femoral nails off to heal some broken bones. After an issue with the sub contracted polishing, team MCHND pulled out a ripper effort and re polished, cleaned, laser marked and got these shipped within the deadline. Another stellar performance with only one reject from 140 nails sent on our first order. What a year, so proud of what we have achieved as a team. 15.01.2022 Tool of the week award goes to this Kennametal groover we just got in. Look at that coolant, boom straight to the tip and inserts are half the price of the competition. 09.01.2022 Maybe the best money we have invested is in a solar system. Yesterday our 30kw system churned out enough power to supply us with 82% of our daily needs. We had 7 CNC machines running most of the day and three industrial Aircon units plus all the normal 240v stuff like computers and lights etc. Looks like we'll have a 2-3 year payback on a $24k investment. 09.01.2022 Today's episode on #shitscared: Big Bertha's got some lovely lumps of 4340 to rough out. Starting at 264mm diameter and 75kg each we remove around 85% of the material. Thought we might try these Sumitomo CNMG AC815P inserts from @sei_australia. A cycle time of an hour came down to 40mins after a bit of tweaking, could have done better but, yeah, shitscared. #mchnd #sumitomo #instamachinist

15.12.2021 Still buzzing from the @fleet.space presentation last Friday night. We got a call a couple of weeks before the show to zap up this prototype and delivered on time and looking amazing. Young apprentice of the world, Zak did most of the machining so got a guernsey to his first meet and greet with all the cool crew at Fleet. 22.10.2021 For those following along with the stories we've been posting here's the almost finished product of our new workshop. Twice the space and two doors down from our old joint. Total rewire Epoxy painted floors 30kw solar system... Evap coolers fresh coat of paint New lighting New air system New metrology room It's took us 6 weeks to get to this point and I couldn't be prouder of the team. This is the tidiest and cleanest it'll ever be so take a look now Machines were moved in over the weekend and now we've got the enjoyable task of setting up a whole workshop.
