07.01.2022 The Mongol Rally has been over for just under two months now, roughly the time it took to complete it, and roughly the time taken to put together this final post...We're back now - back to a semblance of reality, edible food, expensive booze and road rules. In Ulaanbaatar Joel had to catch a flight and we were forced our separate ways - so Chris and I drank his share of the champagne at the finish line. Chris then flew to the States where he proposed to his girlfriend Tomoka..., Joel trekked back to Western Europe to sample the techno offering, and Michael to the Straight of Gibraltar for much needed wind and waves. We learnt a fair bit about each other, some about Central Asia and volumes about E30 BMWs. We met many legends along the way, and can strongly recommend 2004 model year Hyundai Getz's for all your off-roading requirements. ref Ardnamongolia - Mongol Rally 2016. A few discerning individuals noticed that the car changed a bit over time. The primary feature was a map that charted our progress, and provided a way to communicate with our ESL friends. Oh, and your names were on it... You may have to zoom... Thanks to all who supported, donated and put up with us as we re-adjusted to western toilets. We've raised $12,100 for Rare Cancers Australia and $810 for Cool Earth, if you were still thinking of donating, there's still time though we'll close it off in a week or so. Oh, and there's now talk of Africa... Pics courtesy of Omeed Alikhanizadeh (seriously good photos), Tristan Derátz
