25.01.2022 The auction night at The Exchange Bendigo will be one of the last major fundraising events, as part of the Kristy Thomson Appeal in Bendigo. This event will kick off this Friday night from 5pm, and include a major and silent auction proceeding at 6-7pm. Drinks will be half price from 5-6pm and fingerfood provided by The Exchange on the night.... Entry is FREE, and all proceeds from the auction (starts at 6pm) will go straight to the KT Appeal. Auction items include Footy Show tickets, signed AFL jumpers, a limousine shopping trip and MUCH more. On behalf of the McKern Foundation, thanks Bendigo for your terrific efforts so far, well see you on Friday night!

We congratulate each of the recipients, and wish them well with their projects. 24.01.2022 A special thank you to all of you who stopped by Grilld Bendigo yesterday to support the Kristy Thomson appeal. On behalf of the Kristy Thomson Appeal committee - wed like to personally thank Grilld Bendigo owner Richard Nash, who donated all proceeds from the store yesterday, (which we heard was well over $20,000). We hope that Bendigo continues to support the burger shop that continues to support our community.

We need as many people as possible to get there and eat as much as they can! The food is delicious, you have to eat somewhere anyway, and it is all for a fantastic cause. Now in its 5th year, Walk With Me is a national walk that celebrates the achievements of people with a disability. Walk With Me is not a fun run, nor a competitive fitness event, but a 2km or 4km recreational walk, and all funds raised will support the continued work of Scope. You can join us at Walk With Me Bendigo on Sunday 17 August at Lake Weeroona from 9.30am til 2.00pm.... In addition to the walk, which kicks off at 11.00am, there will be a range of activities, music, food and festivities to entertain on the day. This fantastic initiative will see all participating primary schools in and around the Bendigo area, equipped with a selection of fresh fruit every Friday, to be cut up and distributed amongst the children. Metricon chose to donate their $250 prize money to the Very Special Kids charity. 06.01.2022 Michael and Kylie, on behalf of the McKern Foundation, will be putting their bodies on the line in a charity basketball match to be played against the Bendigo Braves in March 2016. The team are known as Elizas Heroes and consist of 20 local business people who have signed up to raise money for a program through Righteous Pups, which will see dogs trained to assist those with Type 1 Diabetes. 8-year old Eliza was diagnosed with the lifelong diagnosis late last year, and si...nce then has had to endure constant blood sugar readings to monitor her glucose levels. This is not only especially hard on Eliza, but also her family who often have to wake each night to take a blood reading. The good news is, Mandela, the Righteous Pups trained dog, has recently made his way to the USA and is currently spending time at a world renowned organisation where he is being taught how to medically alert a Type 1 diabetic or their carer when blood sugar levels drop dangerously low. The McKern Foundation is incredibly proud to be a part of establishing this fantastic program. The team are training hard and hope to put up a really good fight against the Braves next year.
