Borrowers in early the nineties, paying 18 % pa on their home loans, were signing up for bargain rates of 15 % fixed interest for 5 year terms. Even the Government were offering first home borrowers @14 % fixed low interest loans, which came back to bite them in the LOAN FUND saga when rates dropped away in the recession.
