21.01.2022 Jordan Pritchard is the winner of this week’s Senior Player of the Week award! Thanks very much to In Praise of Shadows for generously sponsoring. Jordan, along with partner Adam Fonfe, managed to finally get one over their nemeses on Saturday (Jean Van Rensburg and Andrew Brewster) who they hadn't beaten in their last 4 attempts! They managed to get over the line after coming back from 7-5 in the super by reeling off 5 points in a row, many of which were settled by winners off Jordan's racquet. Not content with this, Jordan and Katie Oliver then went out and convincingly beat a pair they have never beaten in the mixed doubles (Andrew Brewster and Lynn Wells) 9-4, which would have to be one of the first defeats that pair has ever suffered in the competition.

21.01.2022 And in other good news, congratulations to Caroline Byne who is our senior player of the week! Thanks to Five O'Clock Somewhere for sponsoring once again . Caroline, who usually plays #1 in Div 3 Mixed, filled in for the Div 2 Women (a combined O'Halloran Hill/McLaren Vale team). Not only did she and Tayla Jackson win the top doubles 9-4, but Caroline then cleaned up in her singles 9-0! And this was despite not having played competition singles for four years. Well done Caroline! We think you’ll be asked back .

19.01.2022 Senior player of the week for Round 4 is Max Ritchie! Max is a long time member of the club and the Div 1 men’s number 1 player. After his team lost both doubles, but won the next two singles, it all came down to Max’s match. Anyone that was lucky enough to watch saw some unbelievable hitting from start to finish. Max won the match 7-5, 7-6 and got the team over the line by 4 games! Congrats Max!

17.01.2022 All matches this weekend have been cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. We will know whether next weekend's tennis is going ahead by Wednesday next week. Fingers crossed

12.01.2022 Congratulations to this week's junior player of the week, Rafferty Guthleben. Raffy is a member of our green ball div one team who bounced back from a tough start to the season to record their first first win last week. Thanks to the vast improvement he has made in the last few months, Raffy won both his matches and was unanimously nominated by the parents of his teammates to be put forward for player of the week. Congratulations, Rafferty!

12.01.2022 Congratulations to Jack Richards who is McLaren Vale tennis club Junior player of the week this week. Jack is a most deserving winner of this award not just because he won both his matches last week but because he always displays an outstanding attitude on the court; be it at training or in matches. Jack always has a smile on his face and is a most supportive team mate who proved to be a great help to his stand in team manager last Saturday to enter the scores correctly! Well done, Jack!

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Mclaren Vale Tennis Club's junior player of the week, Luke Scarlett. Luke wins this week's award for keeping his head and digging out a clutch win in his div 3 singles last week. Despite surrendering a 5-1 advantage to go 6-5 down, Luke was admirable in the way he managed to get back on track and edge his match in a tie break that ultimately ensured the team won overall by one game! Well done, Luke.

10.01.2022 The tennis club will be closed for the next six days. We'll pass on any updates from Tennis SA as they come through. Looking forward to seeing you all on court again once restrictions have been lifted. Are we there yet?

06.01.2022 All tennis activities at the club have resumed, however there are a couple of important changes to note. if you come to the courts, whether to play or watch your children, you will need to check in using the club’s QR code. Parents can check their kids in. You’ll find the QR code on the RHS of the clubroom’s main sliding door. Using the mySA GOV app is the quickest and easiest way to check in. The other change is that only 14 people are permitted in the clubrooms at a time, s...o please be mindful of this, particularly on days of squad training or competition. Here’s hoping for a speedy return to normality, whatever that is!

05.01.2022 We're very much hoping to see McLaren Vale juniors Henry Pritchard, Amy Hrstich and Sam Hrstich oncourt at the Adelaide International in January...as ballkids! For the last two Sundays they've been attending tryouts at Memorial Drive. Keeping our fingers firmly crossed

05.01.2022 Apologies for the delay in the announcement of the junior player of the week. A few other announcements this week got in the way! However, we have waited 5 weeks for one and now two come along at once... that is, female winners of our player of the week award. Congratulations to Natalie Wilson and Maelin Lock who are this week's winners. Due to the team rotations, Natalie had to play up at number one singles last week and came through a very tough match to lead the team to a ...victory over one of their nearest rivals in a match of high quality. Maelin is a member of our div 5 girls team which comprises entirely new members to the club. Maelin had a rough ride at #1 singles and so played at #2 this week and fought back from match point down to win her decisive singles against a Happy Valley team that had yet to lose this season. Well done, Maelin and Natalie. Fingers crossed, we will see you both back on court next Saturday. Have a great weekend off everyone!

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Jemyma Loke and Claire Painter who qualified to take part in the summer super 10s comp at Millwood. This competition brings together the best 16 girls and boys in the state to compete in teams against each other for 4 Sundays in a row. So far the girls have acquitted themselves very well and are a credit to McLaren Vale tennis club. Good luck for the reminder of the short season, Jem and Claire!
