25.01.2022 The Benefits of Chiropractic Care during Pregnancy Pregnancy is a time of big change in a woman’s body. The rapid weight gain, increased hormone production and changes in physical load can cause a number of problems as a pregnancy progresses, these include, lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, and postural tension.... Chiropractic care during pregnancy corrects pelvic alignment, and adjusts the spine to help it effectively support the changing body. It also eases muscular tensions that develop due to the increase in the hormones that relax the ligament and joints, preparing the body for birth. A pelvis free of restrictions also enables the baby to move and grow in an optimal position. Chiropractic care before pregnancy is an excellent way to prepare the body for the work of carrying and birthing a baby. During pregnancy it is a safe way to alleviate pain and optimise function. After birth Chiropractic helps bring the body back to it’s pre-pregnancy state whilst also helping the mother adapt to the new demands of feeding, carrying and settling their new little bundle of joy! If you are planning on, expecting or have the recent addition of a new little face in your life, call Mclindon Chiropractic and speak to Dr Amy McLindon about how Chiropractic could help you.

24.01.2022 Grab a Second Opinion! How is it that in healthcare, any given set of symptoms and even medical results can be diagnosed and managed so differently depending on which healthcare professional you consult. Aside from the hopefully small margin of human or technical error, the answer lies in the practitioners interpretation of the findings.... The way a health professional interprets symptomatology and diagnostic results is often dependant on the discipline in which they have been trained, their collected experience and of course, their scope of practice. Even within the same healthcare profession, the variable of interpretation seems to produce such differing approaches and therefore different health outcomes. There is often a number of treatment approaches that could achieve the same health goal. However, it also means that the consumer is left trying to navigate a maze of opinions, explanations and treatment trials. This can become expensive, confusing and frustrating and unfortunately for many people, it means that living with an ailment becomes less bothersome than trying to get it fixed. So, if you are someone looking for a chiropractic perspective, a second opinion or just looking to have some questions answered, give McLindon Chiropractic a call and ask for one of our Chiropractors to call you back - we are here to help. 5548 7878

08.01.2022 Dr. Toneya Hywood first experienced the life changing benefits of chiropractic in her late teens, when upon the suggestion of a family friend, she sought chiropractic care for the relief of chronic severe headaches. After relief of her symptoms Toneya was inspired to share this experience with others, and so started the journey of a career in Chiropractic. Graduating from RMIT University, Toneya achieved a Bachelor of Health Science and a Masters in Clinical Chiropractic wit...h Distinction. She has enhanced her clinical skill-set with further study in Sacral-Occipital Technique, Activator Methods, SD Protocol, Yoga and rehabilitative and preventative rock-taping. Through her own experiences and with a particular interest in the nervous system's response to everyday physical and mental demands, Toneya focuses her clinical efforts in combating what she considers one of our society's biggest health concerns, "The Epidemic of Stress". Headaches, fatigue, anxiety, digestive and hormonal issues, poor sleeping habits and pain are not just symptoms to be managed, but rather a body's attempt to raise awareness of underlying dysfunction. Toneya's goal is to equip her patients with the knowledge and therapeutic assistance required to regain control of their health and wellbeing. She uses manual adjustments, soft tissue and low force techniques as well as stretches and exercises to improve posture and facilitate nervous system optimisation. Toneya advises stress management techniques and nutritional supplementation. We are very excited to have Dr. Toneya join the team at McLindon Chiropractic and we are confident that her skills and caring personality will be a welcome addition to our clientele, to Jimboomba and the surrounding communities.

05.01.2022 Chiropractic Care for Stress The modern world is becoming increasingly complex and there are many demands on our time, energy and attention. Our minds and bodies are constantly bombarded by stress. We perceive stress from three basis sources: our environment, our body and our emotions. Our bodies react to stress by triggering a fight or flight response. This is a systemic physical reaction that affects the whole body. It works by increasing ones sensory awareness, hea...rt rate, blood pressure, and muscle tone. Essentially it puts the body into a state of ‘overdrive’. It is the body’s default survival mechanism, and is naturally only supposed to be active for short periods of time. However, in a state of chronic stress, this prolonged heightened response causes numerous health issues. One effect of chronic stress is muscle tension, over-contraction and the retention on metabolic waste. This tension can create uneven and restrictive pressures on the bony structures and joints of the body. The muscular release therapies and adjustments given by a chiropractor, help to release these tensions and restore normal movement to areas of the body that have become affected by chronic stress. If you feel chiropractic care could benefit you, please call McLindon Chiropractic on 5548 7878.

02.01.2022 Just in case anyone missed our health feature article in the Jimboomba Times last week..... How does a Chiropractor Diagnose? As with any health care professional a Chiropractor has a diagnostic toolbox which they use when assessing a person presenting with pain or physical ailment.... What might be surprising is that most of those tools walk in the door WITH the patient. Pain and dysfunction is the body’s way of signalling to us that something is wrong. A Chiropractor’s job is to listen, observe and translate these signals into a clinical picture, and to then understand what elements of a person’s body or lifestyle need to be ‘adjusted’ to alleviate the body’s dysfunction and subsequently, their pain. A Chiropractors skill is in identifying these sometimes very subtle signals. They do this by assessing a person’s general posture, motion and gait, their muscle tone, structural development, and symmetry. Then specific examination of a region may reveal inflammation, swelling, bony restriction and a range of other more subtle findings. These indicate that a body is struggling to provide optimal function, or is trying to adapt to external stressors to keep up with our daily physical and mental demands. By collecting all of this information, a Chiropractor is then able to diagnose a regional area of injury or a more global dysfunction, a ‘chain reaction’ of symptoms that are stemming from a primary cause. A Chiropractor then determines whether there is a mode of physical therapy that he/she can deliver to alleviate or correct the problem, or whether there is another healthcare professional that is better suited to the correction or treatment of that particular presentation. Please feel free to visit McLindon Chiropractic for a chat to see if Chiropractic care could be beneficial for you and your wellbeing. DRS S AND A MCLINDON Chiropractors
