16.01.2022 This cute girl is Mia!! Mia is a 3 year old Rotti who presented to the clinic a few days ago for having a fever and vomiting. Due to Mia vomiting, her vet decided to take an x-ray of her abdomen. After an x-ray, it was obvious that she had been snacking on something she was not supposed to! Her x-rays showed that she had swallowed a few rocks which required surgery to remove. Without doing an x-ray it would have been impossible to determine what was causing Mia to be so sick.... After her surgery to remove the rocks in her stomach, Mia’s fever reduced back to normal and she stopped vomiting. After a night in hospital, she was able to be sent home to her lovely family! #vet #jimboombavetsurgery #surgery #xrays #foreignbodies #rocks #rotti #rottweiler #obstruction

05.01.2022 With the advent of warmer weather associated with spring, we have seen a number of dogs and cats in critical condition due to being bitten by either brown or red belly black snakes. The signs of envenomation vary, but may include collapse, vomiting and diarrhoea, blood persistently dripping from what seems a minor wound, to muscle tremors and convulsions. If you see your pet with a snake, if possible take a photo of the snake as this will help us determine w...hether the snake is venomous or not, BUT DO NOT PUT YOURSELF AT RISK OF GETTING BITTEN. Confirmation of the bite can be confirmed at the clinic by blood test, venom isolation in blood or urine and the clinical appearance of the affected dog or cat. Fortunately the majority of animals can be saved with quick institution of support therapy and administration of anti-venene. It is rare to see a bite mark on your pet, and remember snake bites are an emergency so contact the clinic immediately if you think your pet has been bitten. See more
