25.01.2022 Here at The McMahon Method our community and it’s inclusivity are at the forefront of everything we do. Our members are what matters, always. We feel it necessary to come out and express that we do not condone any statements made by the CEO of CrossFit this past weekend. Although we are not affiliated we feel that it is best for our community to know our stance on such an issue. We want to assure our members that they will always be welcome inside the walls of our gym no matter age, race, sexual orientation or beliefs. Our community is and always will be the foundation to our success and the reason why we do this. Fitness does not discriminate, so neither should we. Peace and love, TMM.

02.01.2022 Misconceptions about TMM Fitness - Everyone gets injured. Injuries rarely come from the training alone. What injures people is not listening to coaches, performing moves incorrectly, or receiving poor coaching, And, a lot of times, just pushing too hard. Some people are getting biologically fatigued and doing too much all at once. It has to be something you build up to slowly.... - I have to get fit before I start. This is a place where you get fit, just like anything you start small and build up. So we use scaling options for people just starting and that may include decreasing rep range, decreasing the intensity and or increasing rest periods. - Its only for crazy-fit people. There is a huge misconception that the training we do is like the Crossfit games. It’s important to remember that the sport of Crossfit and doing functional fitness to gain fitness is not the same thing. Its like playing in the Rugby World Cup and tossing the football around in the back yard with your friends. We will do some of same movements in the gym as competitors do during the Games, but some are less complicated or technical, others will be completely different. - It will make me bulky! Bulkiness is subjective. What might look bulky to one may seem perfectly normal to another. This style of training with average food consumption optimises you to your natural lean weight which is slightly different for everyone, you could do this style of training and intentionally put on weight but that would require you to eat a substantial amount of extra calories or you could do this style of training and have a normal healthy diet and stay more healthy and toned. It’s probably not so much the style of training but how much food you’re eating. - Its competitive The sport of CrossFit is competitive, but in the gym, everyone is way more competitive with themselves than they are with others. In fact, the community aspect is probably the best part about our gym. The support system grows from people wanting to see their peers do well and people get excited to see fellow members achieve new personal bests.
