25.01.2022 A little acreage tidying and tree trimming done in the past 2 days, so we now have a couple of burning piles at the ready for better fire weather! It's now much safer around the dwellings on this 10acre property.

25.01.2022 Matt doing the wheel barrow wiggle

23.01.2022 Lots of mowing done these past few weeks! The growth is crazy even just in a week thanks to all this rain and a heat wave! Give us a call if your lawn is needing some love, we can keep on top of it regularly for a competitive price. Brisbane Northside suburbs

23.01.2022 We now take Eftpos! This is our preferred payment method rather than handling too much cash. Contactless payment from your device or card makes it so easy

22.01.2022 We have a massive work in progress which is super exciting.. A Daycare and Kindy garden makeover. We will be installing new decorative plants to bring some vivid colour and different textures plus a fully edible herb, vege and tea garden for the kids, as well as new sand and mud for the play areas. So far we have only just begun by doing a lot of weed control, some salvaging and relocating of the surviving plants, soil improvement and refilling the mud pit. Next weekend is where it starts getting exciting, lots of pictures to follow. See below our progress so far and some of the beautiful plants that will be going in.

22.01.2022 Spot the difference ... Fresh, quality mulch can do wonders for your garden! Here we used pine bark to refresh this little garden bed and help make it healthier and easier to maintain in the future. Why is it necessary?... The old mulch had started to break down - allowing more weeds to come through and it wasn't retaining as much moisture in the soil as it used to with a nice thick layer, so the plants were beginning to suffer. New mulch also helps to add a little extra insulation to the roots and lower stem from intense heat or cold/frost, and also helps to reduce the need for chemical weed control due to the natural barrier it creates. As the mulch breaks down again it will feed more nutrients back into the soil. Its a win win. So after weeding, fertilizing and remulching this little area these plants will be a lot happier and it has given an instant refresh to the garden. Not an obvious change visually but it really does finish it off and tidy it up. It's a good time through winter to think about refreshing your garden beds too! **Make sure to use a new high quality mulch like cypress or pine chips to avoid fast breakdown, unwanted weeds, fungi or pests making their way into your soil, and make sure it has enough depth to provide adequate weed control and moisture retention.

21.01.2022 Rain, Hail or Pandemic.. No excuses! Let us help maintain that garden for you.. Limited bookings available

20.01.2022 Haven't posted much lately but we have been working hard and keeping busy with plenty of work, family time and improving our own home garden too! Getting lots of exciting new opportunities coming through, including more commercial work and contract work which will help us grow and evolve our business! Can't wait to see where the next year takes us! Still have a few openings here and there for smaller garden jobs and can work in a full day job if needed, so give us a call or m...essage if you need any work done soon! Matt and Em

18.01.2022 Gotta get myself one of these bad boys

15.01.2022 The awesome IMO Attended carwash in Burpengary had unfortunately had the garden left unattended for some time, so Matt fixed it up for them today! Much more accessible and tidy

14.01.2022 Great advice, hope everyone is staying safe!

14.01.2022 Starting to work on propagating some of our favourite plants from our own garden! 14.01.2022 Covid-19 Business Update At M.C. Mowing and Garden Maintenance we are continuing business as usual until told otherwise. As a small family-run business with this as our only source of income obviously this is very important for us. Luckily in this industry our personal contact is very limited and we spend more time with the birds and the earthworms than with the people we are doing the job for, so can continue quite safely at this time. ... We are taking extra precautions with our own health and personal hygeine, and now also limiting outings to basically just Work to help avoid exposure to Covid-19. We can quote via photos and take online payments rather than cash so we don't have to have ANY contact if you are not comfortable or are in isolation. This way at least you have one less thing to worry about and we can keep on top of the Garden for you at this time. If anything positive has come from this Global disaster we can take solace in the fact that at least our earth is getting a little time to heal; and we are all learning not to take our health, work, freedom or loved ones for granted. Please continue to support us through this time of uncertainty. Thank you Matt and Em

13.01.2022 PLANT SPOTLIGHT #3 FRANGIPANI Everyone loves a Frangipani, they smell amazing and have the most beautiful flowers in a variety of colours such as red, yellow, pink and orange. Very easy to grow from a cutting, literally snap a branch off, wait until the sap dries out at the base and stick it in the soil! The foliage will likely drop off but it doesnt take long for new growth to sprout. The sap can be slightly poisonous to animals and produce upset stomach so avoid if you hav...e Dogs that eat everything. The tree grows up to about 6m tall and 5m wide and a mature plant provides lots of beautiful flowers. Fertilize in spring to encourage more flowering. It only needs to be watered about once a week and are fairly drought tolerant, preferring a warmer climate for successful growth. Our little cutting has only been in the Garden for about a month but has already grown about 5-10cm taller and has a lot of new growth coming through. Our red one is starting to produce new growth too but no flowers as yet. See more

12.01.2022 Just some light pruning for today.. it rained on our parade though! Although we are not currently equipped to do Acreage maintenance ourselves YET, if you've got the gear we will do the hard yakka for you! This 10 acre property has got to be one of our favourites, lots of work to be done every week and all the fun toys! We are open to doing anything needed for property maintenance and for this job we have even done some fence painting and mucking out paddocks for the owners. Just ask what you need and we can give you a quote :)

12.01.2022 Looking much tidier at this Childcare center now! It had been left quite overgrown and out of shape, but after a couple of weeks we will have these hedges back to a straighter and more uniform shape

12.01.2022 We completed the Daycare garden today with river rocks down the drainage channel and nice fresh pine bark to finish around the new plants. Now to feed and fertilize them regularly so they grow big and lush as soon as possible, Its going to look bright and beautiful once established. Pictures before and after

11.01.2022 Lots of work on our big Acreage job the past two days... Have put in 55m of weed mat and filled with gravel inside the curb that I painted last week around the property's front fence. Cut and burned about 12m2 of clippings from trees. Mowing and brush cutting of an acre, attaching a net to the rear side of a stable to stop branches and leaves coming in. Pruning the tops off a big Lychee tree in the orchard so the fruit can be netted and saved from the birds and bats. Love working on this property, such a variety of work to be done and horses everywhere to keep us company.

11.01.2022 Smallest scale landscaping job to date.. Our Daughters fairy garden for her 3rd birthday this weekend! We have only 'fake planted' the flowers in pine bark so she can decide how it will look when we plant it properly together. We have so many spare flowers and pebbles, this might end up becoming the centerpiece to a much larger fairy garden

10.01.2022 Still working hard and keeping busy! We havent posted many pictures lately but have been doing a variety of jobs on a few acreage properties, plus weed control and mulching for smaller residential yards lately. We have been lucky enough to maintain a constant stream of work through this time and hoping it stays that way. So If you have some garden work that needs doing - big or small, just give us a call or message and we will be happy to help you out over the next few weeks when we are next available

09.01.2022 Haven't posted much lately, but have still been keeping busy with our regulars and a few new clients too Here is a job from last week - felling a dead tree in the horse paddock. Some very good firewood ready to go when the weather is right!

08.01.2022 Very True... Not working this weekend but still gardening! We have potted various cuttings including some Crotons, potted some new bromeliads, planted another variety of Coleus, a stunning Dahlia and added little Petunias to our front garden for some colour. Also started to weed n feed our lawn and still have some herb and veg seeds to plant. Very satisfying work!

08.01.2022 Unsure yet how this whole Pandemic is going to affect us, but as a small business relying solely on this to feed our family and pay the bills it's a little scary. Not many people are thinking about their lawns and gardens right now. Luckily we have some regular weekly and fortnightly bookings to rely on however it is important that we continue to work as normal and book out the rest of the weeks so we don't fall behind. We are lucky in this job that there isn't a lot of close contact with people and we are doing our best to stay well and healthy so we can function as normal. If you have been contemplating having some work done in your garden please book it it in to continue supporting our Family business. Thank you

08.01.2022 What looks like a relatively small job becomes an epic task when rubble and left over concrete is piled up in a garden bed that happens to be mostly clay and shale anyway. Had to bring in the big guns! It's a work in progress, we are getting back to good soil now and even found some happy little earthworms.. should be a nice garden here eventually at the Daycare center, can't wait to see the finished product over the next few weeks!

08.01.2022 Bit of a makeover today for the Daycare garden! Added a little more life and colour after we weeded it and cleared out the remaining old plants that weren't doing so well. Still have a few Bromeliads to add to the large shaded section so it looks a bit more full before the new plants mature

08.01.2022 Some of our previously planted gardens at the Daycare are really taking off now and looking great... here is one of our favourite plants

08.01.2022 This heatwave is no joke! It got up to 35C in the sun this afternoon where we were working on a commercial property with no shade. Had to pack up early and call it a day! Bring on the storm and some cooler weather for the next few days. We do have some availability here and there so let us know if you would like a competitive quote starting at just $50. We are happy to discuss your garden's needs through these warmer months to work out a maintenance or lawn restoration p...lan with regular bookings. We can help with... 06.01.2022 Just a spot of plant shopping today! Such beautiful colours and textures for the gardens at the Daycare, we can't wait to see the finished product. We still have all the bromeliads, veges and herbs to collect tomorrow so there's heaps more to come. The only downside to this contract is we have a tonne of sand and a tonne of mulch to get up an elevator, it's going to be fun. Please send massage vouchers

06.01.2022 Happy Easter to all of our amazing clients! Hope you're all keeping safe indoors and enjoying your long weekend with family. Here is a picture of when our kids Zara and Tyler met a horse at one of the acreage properties we maintain. 03.01.2022 Big mowing day today and it was SO hot! This 42 house estate is looking fresh again after all the fast growth from the rain the last two weeks. Next week we tackle the weeds and hedges again. Every week doing this estate we clock about 26k steps and walk almost 20km in a day!

03.01.2022 Such a massive improvement for this Kindergarten! Proud of what we accomplished today and can't wait to see this garden flourish over the next few months. There is now so much colour, heaps of edible plants for the kids to grow and take care of, plus they can use them for their herbal teas before rest time. Next week we just have to top up the sandpits and its going to be good as new!

01.01.2022 Been busy the past couple of weeks on our favourite big property! Acres of mowing, digging out around shed and pipes as the shed needs repinning and removing plants from the garden there, hedging, weeding and pruning galore - ready for a fire or two, cleaning the pump filter from the dam that irrigates the gardens, a bit of curb painting around a water fountain and some paddock cleaning! Can't get bored on a big property like this!

01.01.2022 Amazing medicinal plants for your garden this flu season!
