25.01.2022 A fine rack of US WWII Campaign Medals we have just mounted in the US style. US Army Good Conduct Medal (for three years service) each of the five services have their own version of this medal). US Europe Africa Middle Eastern Campaign Medal US WWII Victory Medal... There are only two other US medals that could be awarded for WWII. These are US Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the American Campaign Medal. Contrary to common belief the US do not have more medals that Australia and Britain. For example in WWII the US could be awarded up to five Campaign style medals, Britain 11 and Australia 12. If Decorations are included the numbers are US 16, Britain 29 and Australia 30. Most of the ribbons seen being worn on US daily uniforms are exactly that "ribbons" awarded for many different things, they are not medals.

21.01.2022 NATIONAL EMERGENCY MEDAL BUSHFIRES 19-20 This is provided for the information of those who were responders to the Bushfires in 19-20. Any of our page followers who know of persons who responded to the bushfires are urged to let them know of this declaration. On 3 Dec 2020 the Governor General signed off on the award of the NEM for responders to the 19-20 bushfires. The link is the declaration which include links to additional documentation which enable organisations to nomi...nate their members or individuals to apply for the award. It is interesting that only the Emergency Services and Police from QLD, NSW and Victoria plus the ADF are the only major groups singled out for group applications. It appears that applicants from other States may need to approach their organisations themselves to generate an application. Basically the criteria is a minimum of 4hr per day for a minimum of 5 days (they do not have to be consecutive) in any or a number of 108 areas specific in the link. https://www.gg.gov.au//national-emergency-medal-bushfires-

18.01.2022 A recent polish rack mounted by us. You will notice the Star on Blue background (wound badge) at the top. The medals are: Cross of Valour. Instituted on 11 August 1920 to reward acts of bravery on the field of battle, the 1920 version of this cross was amended and shows an uncrowned eagle on the obverse as well as the date "1944" on the lower arm. ... Originally the Polish Government in exile in London adopted a white ribbon with crimson side stripes but later the 1920 ribbon crimson ribbon with white stripes was reintroduced. Subsequent awards were displayed by ribbon bars. Army Active Service Medal (Polish War Medal) Created on 3 July 1945 for award to all members of the Polish Army with at least 6 months of meritorious service with a unit engaged in military operations against the enemy or with at least one year's service with another unit. For each further period of one or two years' service, a silver bar with oak leaves was placed on the medal's ribbon (max. 4 bars allowed). The reverse reads "Poland to her Defender" in Polish Home Army Cross General Bor-Komorowski, former commander of the "Home Army", created this commemorative medal on 1 August 1966 for award to former Home Army members or members of resistance organisations which preceded the Home Army. 17.01.2022 This is the first time we have been asked to supply and mount medals from the Irish War of Independence 1917-1921. Irish medals are not normally court mounted as shown but we mounted them in this style by request of the customer. Also you will note that there are two Service medals one with a bar and one without. These were issued to husband and wife and would not normally be mounted together, once again this was as requested by the customer. Named medals were issued to those Killed in Action or who had died between the end of the war and the issuing of the medals in 1941. There is no difference in design between named and un-named medals. COMRAC is Gaelic for Struggle. In 1971 Survivors Medal this commemorative medal was issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of the War of Independence.
