24.01.2022 Just for something different.

23.01.2022 COVID-19 is making some Australians feel anxious and worried. Several organisations are available 24/7 that can provide mental health support.

23.01.2022 Take care everyone

22.01.2022 CFA has taken action in response to a confirmed case of coronavirus with a CFA member. In order to avoid all risk, all identified contacts of a confirmed case f...rom Noble Park Fire Brigade are being isolated and tested and buildings are being cleaned. Noble Park Fire Brigade has been taken offline while this takes place. Alternative arrangements have been made between neighbouring brigades to ensure community safety and emergency response is not compromised. The Warrandyte, Wallan and Kilmore fire stations have been closed for deep cleaning, but the brigades are operational and responding to incidents. District headquarter offices in Seymour, Dandenong and Shepparton were also closed for deep cleaning as a precaution. Cleaning of the Shepparton district headquarters has since been completed. Brigades in District 8 and District 12 have reverted to essential activities only as a precautionary measure, with all non-essential activities postponed or cancelled. Not all of the impacted stations have close contacts associated with the positive case. This is a cautious and safe approach to ensure the safety of our members and the community. Any questions for District 12 (Wallan & Kilmore) can be sent to [email protected]

20.01.2022 We all have a role play to help stop the spread of #COVID19. #FlattentheCurve = help stop the spread. Practice protective measures:... Wash hands often with soap and running water, for at least 20 seconds. Dry with paper towel or hand dryer. Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you dont have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow. Stay at home if you feel sick. If you take medication make sure you have enough. Continue healthy habits: exercise, drink water, get plenty of sleep. Remember: COVID-19 spreads through close contact with an infected person; mostly face-to-face or within a household. And wearing a face mask is not necessary if you are well. 18.01.2022 Hi all. Liz is back today with a great activity for little ones stuck inside during this dreary (lovely!) rain. 18.01.2022 Reminder that today's immunisation session at Seymour has a 'once-off' change of venue. While we would usually have a little fun on April Fools day we didn't th...ink it was appropriate this year - so we assure you this is a genuine change of venue. The session will take place at the old Maternal and Child Health building: 55 Pollard Street from 1.30pm to 2.30pm Please follow the advice of the nurse around where to sit before and after your immunisation. If you have small children, keep them close to you when in the centre to ensure social distancing. For information on other sessions visit: https://bit.ly/2P9C5in

16.01.2022 **UPDATE: Since posting, the Federal Government has announced further closures. The pools will now close from 12 noon on Monday. ** Over the weekend, we have se...en the State Government announce a closure of all non-essential services by Tuesday as part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our libraries will close on Monday, pools will close on Tuesday and our kindergartens will close on Tuesday in line with State Government school closures. They join services that were closed last week: our youth rooms, the Seymour Visitor Information Centre and Council-operated gyms. All other face-to-face services will stop from Tuesday with the exception of essential waste services and critical immunisation and maternal and child health services. We will also review other critical safety services such as some public health, animal management, roads and open space maintenance functions. Well provide more updates on these once weve had a chance to review the State Governments more detailed announcement which is expected on Monday. It is not a shutdown of operations. We will continue to provide other services where we can online and via the phone. Our website will also be updated regularly at www.mitchellshire.vic.gov.au/COVID-19. These are uncertain times and the impact of these changes across our community will be big and evolving quickly. Please look out for each other, take all precautions to keep safe and rest assured we will be here in some way, shape or form throughout this crisis, and as we eventually head into recovery.

14.01.2022 I know lots of parents and students have been waiting for this one so here's all the info you need on what's happening for Term 3. As we flagged last week, al...l schools in regional and rural Victoria except for Mitchell Shire will return to face-to-face learning as planned tomorrow. Years 11, 12, and specialist school students within Stage 3 restricted areas will also start back in the classroom. School holidays for Preps to Year 10s in Stage 3 restricted areas have been extended by a week and on the advice of the Chief Health Officer, they'll begin remote learning on Monday 20 July. That's because while we're doing everything we can to drive case numbers down, it's really important not to have hundreds of thousands of kids and their parents and carers moving around every day. Few points to note: We'll still have on-site supervision for any student who needs it whether that's because their parents are out working, for vulnerable kids, or those with disabilities who need extra support. All students attending class or on-site supervision in Stage 3 restricted areas will be temperature-checked daily. Kids leaving the Stage 3 area for school will also be temperature-checked each morning when they get there. Students who received a laptop or tablet to learn from home last term should still have these but we'll also be loaning out a further 1,000 devices and 2,500 dongles to make sure everyone has what they need to learn. School breakfast and lunch clubs will continue to run for any student that needs them whether they're learning face-to-face or at home. For families on the edge of the boundary, whether students learn in the classroom or remotely is based on the location of the school not where you live. This ensures kids will be doing the same thing as their classmates regardless of their home address. I'm sure people will be wondering 'Why these year levels and not others?' We want to make sure all our VCE and VCAL kids across the state are in the same boat and everyone gets an equal chance to do their best. Plus Year 12s have next year to plan for and we want to make sure they have as much support as possible over the next six months. Feedback last term was that remote learning for specialist school students, their families and their teachers was incredibly challenging. That's why we've made this call. I know people will have differing views and mixed feelings about this. I know kids will miss their mates. And I appreciate that it probably feels a bit unsettling for everyone students and parents alike. My heartfelt thanks for your patience and resilience. There might be a few blips along the way but we're doing our utmost to make this transition as smooth as possible. And finally, to our hard-working teachers and school staff: Thank you for everything. You are truly irreplaceable.

12.01.2022 Lets not be too quick in setting up our home classrooms.

12.01.2022 Morning everyone. You'll see this in the news shortly but I wanted to share it with you directly. Today we've declared a State of Emergency for Victoria.... This declaration gives the Victorian Chief Health Officer the powers required to enforce the quarantine and isolation measures agreed yesterday by Premiers, Chief Ministers and the Prime Minister. That includes the 14-day isolation requirements for all travellers entering Australia and the cancellation of non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people. We are facing an unprecedented challenge and we must do everything in our power to flatten the curve of COVID-19. The coming weeks and months will be tough on everyone. We will ask you to do things you've never had to do before. But we must listen to the experts. And we must all play our part in keeping each other safe.

02.01.2022 Our kindergartens, leisure centres and building and planning counter in our Wallan office are the latest services to stop face-to-face contact as part of our re...sponse to help slow the spread of COVID-19. We've also put some changes in place for some of our other services that are still operating and have direct contact with people including customer service, maternal and child health, immunisation, animal management and resource recovery centres. We'll be featuring a few of these services throughout the day. You can also view the latest information at www.mitchellshire.vic.gov.au/COVID-19 The sessional kindergartens have closed in line with the Victorian Government school term. Teachers and educators will still be on site for families who need to pick up medication. Please phone ahead to make arrangements. Our leisure team is offering some online programs. Take a look at the Mitchell Shire Leisure Services page for details. The building and planning counter can be contacted by phone or online. The service is operating, but we're reducing face-to-face contact as much as possible. If you are accessing a service that is still providing face-to-face, please consider contacting us by phone or online instead of coming in. If you do need to come in, please follow the directions of staff to maintain a safe distance.
