25.01.2022 Hi everyone! I hope you’re all keeping safe... and maintaining sanity during these times haha I have a bunch of updates and announcements regarding the MCR Powerhouse clinic:... 1. Being an Allied Health clinic, we will remain open during stage 4 restrictions 2. The clinic will be moving from Melton to Maddingley (Bacchus Marsh) September 21, and the clinic will be closed between September 14-18 to prepare for this transition 3. For late September, I understand there are a few clients of mine who are from Melton, but not to worry, I am happy to write a letter stating you are crossing from Melbourne Metropolitan to Regional for essential services when you are seeing myself for an appointment, which to my current knowledge can be shown at checkpoints for approval. I know I can trust my clients (because my clients are awesome ), but please do not use the letter to cross whenever you like, because if Police call me to confirm if you have an appointment, I will be honest about dates and times of bookings. 4. I have new hours from August 10! Monday 3:30pm- 7:30pm Tuesday 10am- 2pm Wednesday 3:30pm- 7:30pm Thursday 3:30pm- 7:30pm Friday 3:30pm- 7:30pm Of course if people need emergency bookings, and I am booked out any given week, I will accomodate as best I can. Look after yourselves everyone

25.01.2022 Even when you’re out to dinner, always be exercising . . #squat #outdoorfitness #outdoorworkout #funny #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse

24.01.2022 I know, I know, it’s been a while! Hahaha Inspiration struck this morning, and I decided to do a quick post for all my split buddies out there! Now, aside from the corrective exercises and mobility movements I’ve provided (hint hint... do them! ) you also need to practice the very thing you are trying to improve. I have noticed it is way easier to hit the splits when your heels sink into the sand, so if you are flexible enough to cross the halfway point but not flexible en...ough to hit rock bottom comfortably, head to the beach!... oh 3 other things: 1. Although I’m in QLD, I’ll be getting my routine test the moment I get back to VIC for everyone’s safety and comfort 2. The announcement I mentioned a couple of weeks ago will be made shortly after Easter. 3. I SO can still do the splits on a flat surface... it’s just fun on sand haha Have a great day! Now, back to my workout . . #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #splits #splitsprogress #mobility #stretching

24.01.2022 Hi All! Just a quick announcement that I’ll be filming a tour of the new clinic tomorrow! I’m sure everyone will be happy with the results, I already am and I’m not even done yet Just to update for everyone, from Monday, I will be practicing in Maddingley (Bacchus Marsh) on the following times:... Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri: 3pm- 8pm Tue: 10am-3pm When you make an appointment, I will send you a message the day before with all the new clinic details. See you at the new clinic!

24.01.2022 Getting back into the gym and/ or exercise, but you’re struggling with joint mobility because of the previous (or current) lockdowns? Want to get back into exercise without having to wait for your full mobility to return? Try out this temporary technique for squats! . This technique will help you improve your strength and fitness right now, whilst allowing you to improve your joint mobility separately. You don’t have to choose between the 2! . #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #gym #squat #mobility

22.01.2022 For everyone who is antsy to get back into the gym, here is some barbell food for thought Are there any differences between Front Squats and Back Squats? Yes! The position of where the bar rests on you, and the way you grip the bar, alters the way your body lifts the weight, therefore certain muscle groups are emphasised more so in one versus the other. For example, quadriceps (front thigh) and upper back muscles are worked more in the Oly grip front squat (shown here), a...nd the gluteal (bottom) and lower back muscles are worked more so in a low bar back squat. Now this can alter depending on the variation of Front and Back Squats you perform, so take this as a general guideline, as I’d be here all day going through every variation haha. Personally, if your mobility is good to perform both, I recommend learning both in one form or another, to help you with almost any exercise goal . . #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #squat #backsquat #frontsquat See more

22.01.2022 I saw this quote, and it immediately made me think of all the clients to who I recently prescribed home exercise programs. Just remember everyone, some progress during the lockdown is still progress. Don’t stop just because you can’t go to a gym, or a dance studio, or a football field formally. They will open again, and you don’t want to have to start from square one (again) when they do. Make do with what you’ve got, where you can, and get some exercise advice if needed . #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #gym #exercise #progress #fitness

22.01.2022 IT’S NOT PERFECT, BUT DAMN IT’S FUN TO PRACTICE A client asked me the other day why she should bother with her corrective exercises, as she can never get them right. I’m posting this as inspiration for her (I won’t name names for confidentiality, plus I wanted the post to be a surprise haha), but here is myself, publicly posting some of my training footage in something I am not even close to mastering. There are steps missing, and I’m doing them in a random sequence, but ...I do what I can, with what I’ve got, with the little time I have on hand, and try to get better every session. I hope this helps you take that extra step to recovery, even if the movement isn’t 100% perfect, some movement is better than none. I hope this also helps others put things into perspective too. Just get started, and we’ll fix things along the way. Good luck! #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #mma #bjj #wrestling #injuryrehab

21.01.2022 In commemoration of our fallen brothers and sisters, and for respect of our veterans and currently enlisted. We thank you for your sacrifices . #anzacday #anzac

20.01.2022 Hi all! Just a few quick updates regarding the clinic: 1. We are still open to help you out... except next week (20th- 24th July, I’m having one week off, simply for downtime, nothing health related), then straight back into it!... 2. We have sourced some exercise bands for clients 3. We have new orthotics for sale! Very high quality, to help you with walking, gym and sport! 4. Because of occasional close contact in our Allied Health clinic, I will be wearing a mask during treatments. Have a good day everyone!

20.01.2022 We’re getting into the festive mood here at MCR Powerhouse . . #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #christmas #holidays #fun #funny

19.01.2022 Fitness is not just about nutrition and exercise. Your mindset makes a HUGE difference also! One can improve their mindset within minutes simply by smiling. Initiate this by thinking of something funny you saw on TV, or think about your partner or a loved one. Or try to yell bubbles angrily, that makes me laugh and smile every time haha #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #fitness #smile #mindset #mentalhealth

17.01.2022 As I have mentioned to many of my clients, developing your deeper core muscles not only improves your balance, but also improves your joint flexibility and you can perform most of the exercises with no equipment, inside your own home. I have been writing many home based exercise programs for clients lately, and core development, pilates based exercises and yoga inspired poses are frequently prescribed by myself. If you are interested in receiving a home based program from myself, feel free to comment below, or send me (Matthew) a direct message. I look forward to chatting to you soon! #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #pilates #yoga #gym #home #exercise #program #gym #fitness #health #core #balance #flexibility #mobility

17.01.2022 And just like that, MCR Powerhouse Melton is gone. A bit of a somber moment for me, but now onto a new chapter, a new clinic, one town over!

17.01.2022 THAT’S A WRAP PEOPLE. Another huge thank you for the support of the MCR Powerhouse clinic. I have provided thousands of treatments for almost literally a thousand people over my 7.5 years running this clinic, and it has been a privilege to have yourselves trust your care and rehab with me. It was an extremely hard decision for me to make finishing up the clinic, but with business, and in life, you have to make the tough decisions that will change your life for the better. One... day, people will read this and understand why I picked one path over the other. I may not necessarily be practicing as an Exercise Physiologist, but I will still be helping people in other ways Follow your gut, and follow your dreams, no matter how cliche the statement Feel free to follow my QLD high jinks @mattscottaus on Instagram

16.01.2022 It’s official! MCR Powerhouse is celebrating its 7th birthday... right now! 11am was when the open day BBQ was organised, for CrossFit members in Tullamarine on November 2, 2013.... It has been one interesting ride to see what the clinic has grown into, and I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to change the lives of literally thousands of people through injury rehab and exercise in general. I also want to give a thanks to all the businesses, health professionals, personal trainers, dance instructors, coaches, friends and families out there who have trusted me to help their clients, friends and family members. I always get a big smile on my face when I hear a new client say X told me that I HAVE to see you for treatment, because he makes such a big difference Also, a thank you to the following for the direct business collaborations, it was awesome working alongside you, even sharing office spaces with you, over the years! Pete and Lorenzo of @crossfitmerciless Rolando and Michelle of @bright_faces The Melton Medical Clinic Abanob of @foothealthpodiatry Although I appreciate all of the businesses and their clients who have supported my clinic, there are a few who deserve a particular shout out! Jen of @enpointeerial it has been amazing working with the ladies (and guys) helping them compete and train with as few issues as possible. You’ve been particularly supportive of the clinic Jen, it is truly appreciated Mick and all the trainers of @micksgym247 I am looking forward to the gym opening very soon, and continuing to help keep the members active and injury free so you all can take them to the next level of fitness! The members of @meltoncityrunners I remember when it started as simply Thursday night runs meeting out the front of Gloria Jeans... now it has exploded into a large community of dedicated runners and triathletes. I look forward to helping you all out in the future too! Sam of @workthatbodypt it has been a pleasure watching you evolve as an athlete, a coach and a trainer. Here’s to many more years of you progressing in all 3 realms! Now it’s time for me to get back to doing what I do best, fixing people’s problems, and giving them a better quality of life. Thank you again!

16.01.2022 ANOTHER MEAL PREP SHOT Consistency is key here. BUT! I feel scheduling a cheat meal sometimes is a good idea also, alongside changing up the types of meal preps you consume in general. Variety is the spice of life, so make healthy eating a lifestyle. Having said this, you want your body to look forward to the meals as best as possible, and you want to treat yourself every now and again too. To paraphrase Stan Marsh from South Park: All or nothing is not discipline. ... More energy, clothes fitting better and a more positive energy will follow! Weight loss or not. #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #nutrition #dietetics #mealprep

16.01.2022 Clients who have already attended appointments at my new clinic will appreciate the new sign haha

15.01.2022 Another outdoor exercise! I just wanted to show my clients that no one is perfect. I’ve recently added weight to this exercise, and I can see I’m moving a little too quickly and my rear knee isn’t extending as much as I would like, but it’s all apart of the process. As I like to say: Make do with what you’ve got, where you are, and keep taking action... we’ll all get there

13.01.2022 The big announcements! Ok, so here are 2 of the announcements! 1. The clinic face to face (exercise and hands on treatment) hours are 11am-8pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays as of the 13th of April... 2. MCRP online will be available from Monday the 12th of April! So how does MCRP Online work? You make appointments as you normally would (Via Facebook, Instagram, Call, Text or email) and I will send you a zoom link for attendance once the appointment is booked! As mentioned in the video, online sessions have become increasingly popular, and I decided to accommodate my clients who feel more comfortable performing our sessions at home, or who don’t have the capacity to attend face to face. For my clients who are used to hands on treatment, trust me, as I’ve always said, there is HEAPS I can show you online to help with your pain issues pong term. Feel free to give it a go on Monday evenings. To start, it will be available Mondays 4pm-8pm, and may change in the near future. Apologies, there is no update on the new clinic location yet. But for now, see you all at the current clinic... or online!

12.01.2022 Ken Bruce has gone mad... for all you 1990s peeps out there The new MCR Powerhouse clinic will be open September 21 in Bacchus Marsh!

12.01.2022 One of my athletes @smilinsammy68 sent me this to describe my coaching style, and she’s right. A big part of being a coach, and a rehab professional for all my clients is about empowering you to take action on your end to get stronger and/ or heal. For pain, as I always say to my clients: Massage takes the pain away, exercise keeps it away. Movement is a huge factor to how quickly you recover, and how long you have the ability to stay recovered. This is exactly why Sam does so well as an athlete, and how little muscle/ joint issues she has from competing in Powerlifting. Keep up the good work Sam! . #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #gym #powerlifting #coach

12.01.2022 HI EVERYONE, I HAVE SOME BIG CLINIC NEWS! It’s official, the clinic will be moving to Maddingley (Bacchus Marsh), starting on the 21st of September. For more info, please watch the video. Thanks! ... P.S apologies for the mediocre camera angle, I left the tripod connector at home haha

11.01.2022 Happy Holidays! Just sending out a little love to everyone. Thank you all for your support of the clinic this year, and I hope you all have a great day! See you all in 2021!

10.01.2022 For the Zelda fans out there, I’ve donned the Silver Gauntlets for this set . . #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #zelda #lift #lifting #strength #outdoor

09.01.2022 HERE IT IS, THE NEW CLINIC TOUR! I hope you all like the new appearance :-) From tomorrow (21st of September, 2020), MCR Powerhouse will exclusively be practicing at this Maddingley (Bacchus Marsh) clinic, as a by appointment only clinic.... We will have private health, medicare bulk billing, and eftpos as usual. Also, as we are an Allied Health clinic, and an essential service, you can show checkpoint officers your appointment confirmation text for approval to travel to my clinic from the Melbourne Metropolitan area. Also, there is an important message in this video about the clinic that is easier to describe in video, so please keep an eye out. Thanks and see you soon!

09.01.2022 MCR Powerhouse is now doing online consultations for puppies! Here I am taking Roxy through some relaxation panting techniques #mascot #mcrpowerhouse

09.01.2022 At first I could nudge it, then I could push it, now I can lift it! Granted my lifting and throwing background makes my progression fast for things like this, but the point still stands. Make do with what you’ve got, where you are, keep taking action, and you’ll see results, even during iso. . #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #strength #outdoors #persistence

07.01.2022 So whilst my clinic gym is further than 5km away from my home, I’ve decided to do more outdoor based exercises, and really connect with nature or just get out of the house for an hour haha I used to perform some of these exercises back in the day during my off season as a Shot-Putter: Fartleck Runs, Throwing Stones, Picking up large rocks and small boulders, pushups, squat jumps pull-ups off trees and more. and of course, it wouldn’t be an exercise demo without some wardrobe... malfunctions. Has my butt grown since iso began? no, it’s the leg-ins that are wrong :-P My workouts vary, but this was mine for yesterday if you were curious: 1.5km Hard Run (including running up about 40 steps) 5 sets of 200m Fartleck sprints (100m sprints, 100m slow jogging) 3 sets of 15 Decline or Stone Pushups (don’t underestimate them, they are awkward) 3 sets of 25 Stone V-Ups (again, an awkward feeling doing them on natural stone) 3 sets of 10 Medium Sized Rock Lifts to Waist (approximately 40kg-50kg) 3 sets of 8 Stone Throws (approximately 10kg) 3 sets of 3-5 Tree Pull-ups (bodyweight exercises aren’t my strong point haha) 1.5km Jog (including going down about 40 steps) 45 second breaks in-between each set If you like this style content, let me know and I may even do a GoPro recording of one of my 6am workouts for fun and motivation :-)

06.01.2022 Mobility and a movie! I’ve been doing this for about 5 years now (at least) and it’s a great way for anyone to be consistent with their foam (or in this case, PVC pipe) rolling. In case you were wondering... it’s School of Rock haha

06.01.2022 April 9! It’ll be awesome to see @rickybiechun in action again. All your efforts in the gym are about to pay off with another title

06.01.2022 ONE SIMPLE THING THAT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Improve your eating and exercise habits, improve your quality of life improve anything really. And that one this is: Positive, Constructive, Psychology. What I mean is, finding things you can consistently apply to overcome bad habits, and stop intentionally putting mental roadblocks I like the approach of reminding yourself that the physical acts of healthy eating, corrective exercises/ mobility and working out in general is simple..., and anyone can perform them in one form or another. Furthermore, it is simply the mindset that makes something seem unobtainable, that makes it feel like more effort than what it is. Now I am certain there are many more techniques you can apply to help, but it is a good starting point. If you would like more techniques, fell free to ask and I will post them! . . #mcrp #mcrpowerhouse #weightloss #psychology #exercise #mindset

05.01.2022 THE CLINIC WILL BE CLOSING SOON :-( Yes, unfortunately this day has come. Although the clinic is quite busy, I have been running multiple businesses simultaneously for the life of the clinic (7.5 years), and I have decided to focus all my energy on one business alone. PLEASE NOTE: THE CLINIC IS STILL OPEN UNTIL MAY 6, so if you need to see me for an appointment, feel free to contact me, and I will help you.... Feel free to contact me directly if you want recommendations for external practitioners, and please watch this video in its entirety, because I have given advice on what to look out for in a quality practitioner who can provide what you need AND want, and not make you pick between the two. Lastly, I want to give a huge thank you to all my clients, current and past, and all the allied health and medical professionals I have worked with over the years. I consider you all my friends, and that is why it was easy for me to go above and beyond to help you, wherever I could. Much love *cue violins* hahahaha Matt P.S. Clouds and Puppies most clients who have attended the clinic will get this ;-)

05.01.2022 Mr Miyagi has been on my back about prepping for the All-Valley Karate Championships . #karatekid #balance #outdoorexercise #fitness

04.01.2022 Look, a wild Matthew appeared! just another one of my morning workouts. I’ve mentioned to clients that I’d like to Zercher Squat this tree from the side, but I will have to work my way up to that. Bit by bit, I’ll get there! Be persistent and have a vision in mind everyone, it makes reaching your goals so much easier

03.01.2022 Have you struggled (or are struggling) to improve your aerobic endurance, and more runs on the track aren’t helping, have a look at your posture! Something as simple as correcting a rounded back that has built up over time can improve your aerobic endurance rather quickly, and save your joints from larger volumes of training, at least in the short run (pun intended ). If you want to learn more, let me know in the comments below! . .... #triathlontraining #marathontraining #mmatraining #boxingtraining #bjjtraining See more

02.01.2022 Just felt like giving all my clients a laugh today :-P
