23.01.2022 As posted previously: The Queensland Police Service has partnered with Australia Post to update the way new weapons licence applications are lodged both online... and in-person. From now, new weapons licence applications and identity checks will be received via Australia Post. As part of the new process, when applicants lodge a new licence application online, they will need go to their local participating Post Office to confirm their identity. Upon lodgement, the applicant will receive a confirmation email with their Case ID. Within 24 hours after lodgement, the applicant will also receive a ‘Next Steps’ email from Weapons Licensing with a barcode to produce to an Australia Post operator to confirm their identity. This email must be produced to Australia Post within 28 days of lodgement or the application may need to be withdrawn or rejected by Weapons Licensing. 11.01.2022 Dear fellow ssaa q50 club members It is with sadness I am informing you of something that affects us all . Unfortunately, Fraser Coast Q50 Range was notified b...y phone and email last night that we will need to reluctantly close the range from the 13th December forward. This is due to a Native Land and Sea Title Claim against the buffer zone which currently makes up the template of all three ranges within the Fraser Coast Complex. At this time we have been informed that all three ranges within the complex have been affected. What this means to us is from the closure date we will not be allowed back onto the property until notified of an outcome. We have been in contact with State members, Titles and Land, Local members, Weapons Licensing, Fraser Coast Council and a myriad of other departments for information and direction. Basically there is nothing we can do until the matter has been argued in Court. Even then we may still have significant time away from the range. We intend to keep you updated with future news and changes. The Committee thanks you for your understanding of these matters and ask you to pass this onto your shooters. 05.01.2022 Shooters Union have noticed in the past few weeks an increasing number of members having licenses suspended, revoked or rejected due to matters from long ago which Weapons Licensing are saying suddenly makes those people not a fit and proper person to hold a firearm licence. They have seen more of this happening in the past few weeks than the past five years it is deeply concerning and they are working hard (even in the lead up to Christmas) to find out what is going on. ...If you are a member and receive communication from Weapons Licensing regarding your status as a fit and proper person and/or suspending, rejecting or revoking your licence (or PTA etc) for that reason then please IMMEDIATELY send ALL correspondence and documentation related to the issue to us at [email protected] They will look at it and offer some guidance on how to proceed from there contact them first so they can help you. 02.01.2022 We have written to the Queensland Police Minister (Mark Ryan MP) and the Premier (Annastacia Palaszczuk MP) and said that, as far as we are concerned, the chang...es to "stay at home" restrictions mean we can go hunting or target shooting at the range (while observing social distancing rules and remaining within 50km of home) from Saturday. The onus is now on them to refute that - they have until 5pm on Friday. Unless we hear otherwise from the Premier or Police Minister, outdoor ranges should be able to open for licensed shooters from Saturday, should the range operators choose to open. Given hunting and target shooting is now apparently OK, we are also calling for all remaining restrictions on gun shop trade to be lifted too - and we'll have more to say on these issues if they remain restricted, too, since it will be proof that stopping us from competing or hunting has nothing to do with COVID-19 and everything to do with the Government hating guns and gun owners.
