08.01.2022 Last weekend the election campaign really got into top gear. Deb and I travelled across the whole region putting up my campaign signs. We are still amazed at the view going over the range to Wandoan, and how about the feed.!!! We enjoyed having some time at the TARA Show. My congratulations to all the volunteer committee for such a great effort. We finished the day putting up the last sign at Moonie and ran into a few young locals who are very much part of the future of the Western Downs.

06.01.2022 On Friday I was pleased to announce that I will be nominating for Mayor of the Western Downs Regional Council in the upcoming Local Government Election on the 28th of March 2020. I have been honoured to be Mayor of the Western Downs Regional Council since 2016 and have enjoyed representing our Community at Local Government, and at State and Federal level. My goal will be to continue to create a region that is known for its Liveability, Prosperity, Safety and Well Being of o...ur community. As a Council we have had some great achievements over this term of Council ,from Parks and Gardens, Roads, Potable water for Tara and to be a debt-free Council, to name a few achievements but there is plenty more to do. With our Region suffering from the prolonged impact of drought, action on water security is extremely imperative for our entire Region. I will work on your behalf with other Councils to lobby State and Federal Government to secure and improve water access for our Towns and Agriculture into the future. If re-elected I will continue to drive Council to pursue opportunities To grow our Region Support our people Improve the job opportunities by continuing to diversify our Regions Economic capacity Continue to improve the liveability of our towns And with the the largest network of roads in Qld, continue to improve our roads and connectivity of our Rural Producers. 04.01.2022 With over 70% of the Mayoral votes now counted, it has become clear that I will have the privilege of being the new Mayor of the Western Downs region. To my fellow Mayoral and Council Candidates, I want to thank you for your dedication to your community. It takes selflessness and courage to put yourself out there like you all have. I have genuinely enjoyed spending time with you at various Meet the Candidates forums over the intense campaign time and have made some long-lasti...ng friendships. Each of you (whether successful in your bid for a chair on council or not) have talents and energy and that I hope you will continue to channel into creating positive outcomes for our region. The new Council will be inducted on 5th April. The first couple of months will be an important time for the new councillors to put their priorities on the table, to establish our expectations and values so that we can ensure we are working as a unified team, and as a servant to all our Western Downs communities. We have so much untapped talent, knowledge and ideas in our region, I will be working very hard to make sure we can get the great ideas to rise to the top. Thank you to everyone who gave me your vote. I know you have not taken the decision lightly and I am honoured that you have given me your support. I intend to stand by my platform of People, Progress and Performance, and I am determined that we will have the number one region in Queensland. It’s our time now! I hope everyone has a happy and holy Easter and if you are going away, travel safe. See more

03.01.2022 This morning I attended our District Disaster Management Group meeting with presentations on the spread of Corona Virus and the effective ways to slow down the spread of this Virus. There is planning and co-ordination between all our services including Police,Ambulance,Hospitals,Age Care,Community Groups, and many more emergency services for any future impact of the Corona Virus on our communities. Please go to the Qld Health website for the most up to date information; also ...please observe all recommended hygiene and social separation practice. For those who would prefer to call Qld Health, phone number is 13432584 but there are long delays. Can I ask our Communities not to panic buy at our Supermarkets. We have a lot of rural producers who only get to our towns every 7/10 days, only to find the shelves of essential items empty. Please be considerate for those in our community who don’t have the health we have and the elderly who all need these essential items. Let’s be a Community that cares and shares.

01.01.2022 It has been a great campaign and Deb and I have met some wonderful people across the whole region. Thank you to all who have emailed, text or rang I sincerely appreciate all the well-wishes and support. While a lot of people have been calling the result of the election, there are still many votes coming in and I will wait for a larger number of votes to be counted before I make formal statement. Thanks again. Exciting times ahead.
