23.01.2022 Draw for the schools comp finals

22.01.2022 Nyrie Contor Cup Wrap Up Well it is going to be a long post sorry as there’s a bit to cover In true Nyrie Contor Cup style it was a hot day, not a cloud in sig...ht and plenty of great rugby to be watched. (Lucky Livio heard me when I asked for a cool breeze) We had 30 teams participate in the day with players from Mackay Juniors, Whitsunday Junior Rugby Union, @Emerald Titans , Nogoa Red Claws, Colts Rugby Union, Brothers Rugby Union Rockhampton, Cap Coast Crocs Junior Rugby Union & @Gladstone Rugby Union - GRUF's from Gladstone. Age groups from U6’s to U12’s mixed, U14 to U16’s boys and U15 to U17’s girls, played hard in the hot conditions but loved every minute of it. Thank you to all who travelled to be with us!! Games commenced at 9am and the last game finished just before 5 We had 12 amazing referee’s ref 50 games of Rugby which equates to 1042 mins of Rugby. Just as a fun fact U6’s Well if you want to see some of the cutest rugby players ever you should have checked out these kids. They were living their best rugby life on Saturday and at the end of the carnival it was the Blue team that took out the trophy. With Kyden taking out the Best and Fairest and Jandre taking out the Player of the carnival. Well done kids U8’s These little pocket rockets are fierce, passionate and love to get in and give it a go. At the end of their games it was the Blue team that took out the trophy. With Fraser taking out the Best and Fairest and Paisley taking out the Player of the carnival. Well done kids U10’s This is where the game takes a change for the players with tackle now coming into the game. Now if you watched any if the U10’s on the field you can see the determination and heart that they are putting in and we love that. There were some hard-fought games amongst the Mky, Nogoa, Cap Coast Crocs & Whitsunday teams, but at the end of the U10’s games it was Nogoa who that took out the trophy. With Lockie Bryant taking out the Best and Fairest and Tate Rowe taking out the Player of the carnival. Great work U10’s Under 12’s was our biggest age group of players with teams in this group from Mky, Brothers Rky, Cap Coast, GRUF’s, Nogoa & Whitsundays. There was some tough competition on the fields in this group and every player gave it there all and a bit more. The skill level and team work on the field was amazing to watch. So after all games had finished it was the GRUF’s that took out the trophy. With Craig Thagard taking out the Best and Fairest and Tyson Williams-Allen taking out the Player of the carnival. Well done kids. U14’s These kids play hard and get up and keep going and going and going. The skills, plays and teamwork in the kids in this age group is amazing and if you have been watching these kids over the last few years like I have you would have noticed how far they have come. The teams consisted of 2 teams from Mky, Colts Rky, Nogoa & Whitsundays. There is a lot of talent coming through in this age group and there are definitely a few to watch over the coming years. At the end of the day though there could one be one winner in this group, and it was Nogoa who took out the trophy. With Kody Perry taking out the Best and Fairest and Clancy Hohn taking out the Player of the carnival. Well done kids U16’s these boys, well they are nearly men to be totally honest with you when you see the size of them, playing hard, play fast and they have grown so much over the last few years. They came to play rugby and that is indeed what they gave us, hard hitting rugby with the speed and agility that makes for a great game. It was great to see so many returning player in the Mky, Nogoa and Whitsundays teams and can’t wait to watch you play again. At the end of the day though there could one be one winner in this group, and it was Nogoa who took out the trophy. With Trevor King taking out the Best and Fairest and Hugh Hanrahan taking out the Player of the carnival. Well done boys. U15’s Girls, you guys leave me speechless having watched you girls come in to the season this year with many new players and seeing you play this carnival shows at the amazing level you did is amazing. Every single team in this group played fantastically and you have all come so far. Well done to the Mky, Emerald Titans Pink & White and Whitsundays. At the end of the day though there could one be one winner in this group, and it was Emerald Pink who took out the trophy. With Georgia Newitt taking out the Best and Fairest and it was a tie with Annalise Clulee & Hayley Goodin taking out the Player of the carnival. Well done girls U17’s Girls your Can Do and Let’s Get It teamwork is such a credit you Girls. Your games, plays and fancy footwork is amazing and your commitment to tackle that player every time is fantastic and in the fast past setting of 7’s you do it again and again and again. Well done!! This group consisted of players from Mky, Emerald Titans and Whitsundays and we catch wait to see what you girls do next time. Each game if never the same with your growth as a team from each area. At the end of the day though there could one be one winner in this group, and it was Emerald Titans who took out the trophy. With Skye Whittaker taking out the Best and Fairest and it was a tie with Eve Doull & Takiah Buchannan taking out the Player of the carnival. Well done girls. Now with out the Coaching and Management teams of all the players above this wouldn’t happen either and we can’t thank you all enough for building the foundations with each of these teams. Your work is invaluable, and we would like to Thank You all so much. To the Mackay Committee & Volunteers Thank you all so much for the time and effort you put into this day, without you this day would not have been as successful as it has been. To the Referee’s thank you for keeping the day running on the fields your work was fantastic and we appreciate your time and effort. Thank you Peter Reedman, Brad Tickle, Lincon Burnett, Mark Reedman Luke Reedman, Andrew Potts, Sam Lane from Mackay, Craig Spence, Aiden Spence, Dr Dereck, Justin Butler from Whitsundays and Thank you to Rugby Capricornia Referee Association referee Reagen McKenzie for travelling up to assist as well. Thanks to all Parents, Friends and support teams who were apart of the day as well. Your support is amazing and we were lucky you all joined us. Our Sponsors are invaluable to our club and we appreciate the time and support you give us. A BIG Thanks to Key Solutions Group, GDP Metal Worx & Bcerta OH you guys are awesome and Thanks to Kennards Hire for services of supplies for the day, Mackay Christian College, Northview School and Senior Clubs, Mackay City Rugby Union Football Club, Mackay Brothers Rugby Union, Slade Point Rugby Union Mackay, Kuttabul Camelboks & Proserpine/Whitsunday Rugby Union Club Inc for you donation of tents.
