23.01.2022 Midcoast Dog Rescue would like to remind dog owners the importance of having their pet protected by having a collar and identification tag including name and owner's contact details. This helps if a pet escapes from home and is picked up by a passing motorist as an example. It is easy then to contact owner and reunite the pet and owner. Microchip details should also be current which enables tracing ownership much quicker.
20.01.2022 The generosity of Port Macquarie-Hastings residents is truly amazing! Knowing that so many locals support us and encourage our efforts is very gratifying: your donations to Midcoast Dog Rescue directly support homeless animals in our community. We rely on invaluable assistance from donations, fundraising activities, foster carers and volunteer workers, membership subscriptions and animal adoptions.
20.01.2022 Midcoast Dog Rescue wishes to advise that after consulting with Petstock Port Macquarie, Pet Photos with Santa will not go ahead this Christmas. Petstock Head Office is rightly concerned about the Corona Virus and the risks of holding the event nationally are too great We will be back at Petstock, Port Macquarie, next year and look forward to catching up with all our loyal supporters at our Monthly Pet Adoption Days.

14.01.2022 Midcoast Dog Rescue thanks Maryanne and Peta at Network Video/Cafe for organising our first Port's Perfect Pet Pageant held on Saturday at Lighthouse Plaza. Congratulations to all the winners, including Buffy the rabbit, Jimmy the schmoodle and Mitzi the chihuahua/maltese. We would like to give a special thanks to the management of Lighthouse Plaza, who really made this event possible, for their very generous donation. We hope to see you all again next year at our 2nd Port's Perfect Pet Pageant!

11.01.2022 Here is an update on Fats (formerly known as Pierre) from his adoptive owner. "He currently weighs 9.5kg and still growing. "He loves his morning and afternoon run in the park and has made some friends. He takes his role as protector of our home very seriously. He is still timid, however he has improved with human socialisation from when he first moved here.... "He is due for his first grooming session next week. I believe anything before this time may have been too stressful for him." Thanks for the update... so nice to have photos and stories of Rescue Dogs re-homed.
05.01.2022 Midcoast Dog Rescue would like to remind pet owners that ticks are already on the rampage in Port Macquarie, hiding out in the grass and catching the unsuspecting passerby. It is advisable to avoid areas such as coastal bush areas where large number of ticks can be harboured. It IS ESSENTIAL to apply a tick preventative, there are many excellent treatments available, so ask your vet for advice. Daily searches of your pets are essential, paying particular attention to the head, neck and shoulders (but the whole body should still be checked , including inside the ears, lips, around the bottom and between the toes). The paralysis tick is, without a doubt, the single most dangerous parasite for dogs on the eastern coast of Australia. Treatment for tick paralysis should always be supervised by your vet. Remember: Ticks can kill dogs!!
