13.01.2022 All guitar players know the pain... and the G string usually the culprit.

12.01.2022 As we come to the end of our first year, we'd like to thank you - our fantastic students & families, and our terrific team of talented tutors (channeling Stan Lee there) - for all your support, and for your dedication to music. We wish you a happy and safe holiday, and a fantastic 2020. Happy Christmas Meadowbank Music

11.01.2022 They're Different! We've noticed that some aren't aware that the Creative Kids voucher is different to the Active Kids voucher. Most school-aged students should be eligible for both the Creative Kids & Active Kids programs, with a separate voucher available for each.... Here's a link to Service NSW's page for more info: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/campaign/creative-kids

09.01.2022 #Saxo pipe. Pipe lovers where are you

09.01.2022 Our very own Nick Murphy in recital tomorrow evening. Classical guitar at it's finest - this will be the result of year and years of dedication, and months or preparation of the pieces. It's sure to be an evening of incredible musical virtuosity, so if you can get there, we highly recommend it. See you there :)

08.01.2022 Steve Vai is an OG Guitar Shredder having started his career in the 1980’s and continuing to record new albums and perform to this day. Possibly Steve Vai’s most famous and inspiring guitar piece is For the Love of God from the 1989 album Passion and Warfare you really should check it out. Here’s a live performance from 2011: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuX1qwGtLzA... In the video, you’ll see green tape on his guitar’s pick-up. Steve plays the guitar so energetically at times, that the strings would get caught under the pickup cover. The green tape is there to stop the strings getting caught. He is a true guitar Virtuoso (meaning Excellent Skill from Latin) and plays guitar in a seemingly super-human way. He is of course not super-human, he’s just devoted himself to playing and learning as much as possible. He has played with many acts including Frank Zappa, Whitesnake, David Lee Roth (Van Halen) and many more. He even played guitar as ‘the Devil’ in the guitar movie Crossroads It’s widely known that Steve would play guitar 10-15 hours a day over many, many years. He’s a very knowledgeable musician, and has developed incredible technical skill over years of dedication. He has said that each day he would try to create unique and unusual sounds. You can even hear him make the guitar ‘talk’ in the piece The Audience is Listening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8O3zC4E1NI Regarding practice and development (whether in relation to playing an instrument, or any other skill), here’s some great advice from Steve Vai: The only thing that’s holding you back is the way you’re thinking https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw74sDWPH7U Next week - Brian May from Queen

07.01.2022 We've already seen plenty of interested students book in for the video concert, and also for the filming day. If you'd like to participate, there are still plenty of spots available. Have a chat to your tutor and we'll make sure you're well prepared, comfortable and ready to go. MM... _________________________________________________________ Somewhere out in the garage, on top of an old cupboard, behind the spare Xmas tree, under a pile of New Ideas, you've probably got a long-forgotten VHS player... Well dig it out, because our Student's Video Concert is happening soon. Open to all our students, of all instruments, levels and ages, we're putting on a show at your place. Simply record your performance, send us a copy, and we'll create a concert video and send you the private link. It'll be ready before Christmas, and would be a great gift that can be sent around the world in a flash. For more details send us a PM, or speak to your tutor, Ted or Bruce.

07.01.2022 AMEB announces Video Exams. Great news for our students planning to undertake AMEB or CPM exams this year. More details to follow once released by the AMEB next week.... We hope you're all staying safe, and doing plenty of practice - there's no excuses now ;) https://www.ameb.nsw.edu.au/
