21.01.2022 A lot of hard work went in to re designing our collars and approaches through our renovation period, however with the extreme dry weather and dam nearing empty these areas suffered which slowed their recovery! Now finally with some rain and the dam full they are coming to life and will only get better
18.01.2022 It’s been a big week for our crew

14.01.2022 A few photos from our 2020 From the team Happy New Year to all Bring on 2021
14.01.2022 Hello Members and Guests September is always an extremely busy month for us with course renovations in full swing in preparation for another Qld summer. Our tees have been scarified, cored and top-dressed followed by an all-round fertiliser consisting of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and potassium. Our green surrounds and approaches have been scarified, aerated and fertilised.... Our Greens all of the above including amendments of Magnesium, potassium and gypsum. Greens are recovering very quickly with favourable temperatures the past week, tees and green surrounds are a little slower needing a good dose of rain as levels in our dam are lowering very quickly. The new 15th tee and coaching centre tee has been mown this week followed by a good top-dress of sand, we have then applied a starter fertiliser designed to help root growth establishment. Couch mite is present around the course at the moment in our greens and surrounds especially, couch mite is invisible to the naked eye which live and feed in amongst the leaf sheaths of the couch grass. The grass leaf becomes severely stunted taking on the appearance of a witches broom (see below photo) Couch mite thrive in hot dry conditions from spring into summer however with how mild winter was here at Meadowbrook this year we were spotting them much earlier. We have done 3 applications targeting both the mite and the eggs as development from egg to adult is only 5-10 days. This is something we will monitor very closely throughout summer. Kind Regards Luke Helm
12.01.2022 COURSE REPORT Hello Members and Guests Well what a year it has been!!... Thinking back to the beginning of 2020 when our irrigation pump died at the worst possible time, our new years day spent on a hose doing all possible to keep our greens alive!! That certainly set the trend for what was an exceptional year for everyone. Whilst we have had to overcome many hurdles, Meadowbrook Gc continues to grow and improve. Our 9th green has been constructed and planted with stolons, today we pulled back the covers for the first time revealing a mega establishment for just 12 days since planting! Early In the new year we will construct and turf the green surrounds followed by the construction of Meadowbrook’s very first bunker! The deluge of rain (190mm) certainly set us back somewhat leading into Christmas, once the clean up from the flood was complete we got straight into aerating our greens and tees getting oxygen into the profile. Just before the rain we got our aerator out on the fairways opening them up allowing that water down into the profile, without doubt our fairways dried out much quicker than a few years back which is due to the consistent work of this machine. We have also sprayed all greens, tees and fairways with a folia fertiliser and growth regulator which will encourage lateral spread and reduce vertical growth. It will also improve turf uniformity, thickness and health which helps against environmental stresses and the huge playing numbers around this holiday period. With this being my last report of the year I have a few people I would like to thank, The Linskey and Henderson family’s for the support of its workers through this difficult period in 2020, there passion for Meadowbrook and to see it continually grow is a joy to be apart of. To Dave and the pro shop staff who are always accommodating and helpful juggling tee times with our course works. Helen, Matt and the clubhouse staff who cook us lunch every day, not only is the food fantastic we love having a laugh and a chat. Our volunteers lead by Allan Whiteway, although its been a broken year due to various reasons we have still got some great projects completed and we look forward to continuing the programme next year. Peter Page and Allan Adler who give up their time every week to volunteer on course, your contribution is enormous. To all members and guests thankyou for supporting this great club and making it such an enjoyable place to be at, the positive comments we receive on course really is appreciated so thank you! Finally to my crew thankyou for your hard work and dedication amongst many challenges we have been faced with this year. This year we have experienced drought, flood, covid and much more, however we have still improved and kept moving forward which really shows the culture and team spirt in our department. Merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone, here’s to a better year in 2021 Kind Regards Luke Helm Superintendent

02.01.2022 Exciting times at Meadowbrook Gc We would love some helpers if anyone is available to come give us a hand today and for the rest of the week to relocate turf from the 9th green and surrounds. Please Pm if interested
02.01.2022 Greens cut and prepped for a big days play. Greens are now being mown at 3mm which should add a little pace
01.01.2022 Hello Members and Guests Well very busy times on course as you all know with construction of a first class mini golf facility. If you haven’t been to the club in the last couple of weeks our 9th green has been removed and will be reconstructed below the mini golf, the 9th tee will also move to the left side of the 8th green which will provide all with a stunning golf hole!! Our team have been busy relocating turf and soil from the construction site, we have also had to redive...rt one of our irrigation main lines and irrigation power cable. Construction of the new green will begin in the coming weeks something that we are extremely excited about. On course greens and tees have recovered well from renovations, it certainly hasn’t been easy though with it being so dry and our dam nearing empty. Thankfully the rain gods have arrived in the past week and our dam is now full and the course starting to look green once more. This week we have done a needle tine on all greens which improves water and air movement in the soil profile, with the welcomed rain we have finally been able to fertilise our fairways which will see them come to life. The 15th tee is growing in nicely and is nearing an opening, focus will now turn to reconstruction of the 8th tee and for our lady players an exciting new tee placement. Id just like to thank those members who came and helped us in the past month, we certainly couldn’t have completed the amount of work we did without your contribution. Exciting times ahead for all at Meadowbrook Gc Kind Regards Luke Helm Superintendent
