25.01.2022 With almost 30 years of volunteering between these 2 lovely ladies, they're always smiling and yes, they did deliver meals today with 6 magnetic car signs on their car.... just in case someone missed them

24.01.2022 Cleveland Girl Guides have done it again, even in these changing times. All our Easter meals are being delivered today and each client will receive a 'carrot' full of chocolates. Thank you to these children and their leader Lahnie for their continued support.

19.01.2022 It's been a week of receiving for us here. The Griffith University Lions Club sponsor a small group of older ladies who just love to knit and enjoy meeting together in this shared interest. These dedicated 8 ladies love to give back to the community. Within the next couple of weeks, a lot of our clients will be receiving these winter warmers. Thank you to these ladies for their donation.

19.01.2022 Another big 'Thank you' to Reckitt Benckiser for their very generous donation of hand wipes and Glen 20, both of which are being distributed to our clients and volunteers and will be very much appreciated in these current times.

19.01.2022 Woolworths Supermarket have donated toilet paper across QLD to all Meals on Wheels services, including us here in Cleveland. These are being distributed daily to all our clients who are extremely grateful. Thanks to Woolworths for their incredible generosity in these changing times.

18.01.2022 For over 12 years Susan Gaskon has been responsible for the running of our kitchen. During that time there have been many changes and Susan has played a pivotal role in the smooth transition. She has built a band of loyal volunteers who have supported her, as she them, through these times. It is therefore, with regret that we say farewell to Susan and wish her well in any endeavour she may undertake in her retirement. On behalf of the Committee and Staff of Cleveland Meals on Wheels, we offer our heartfelt thanks for her service and dedication. We would also like to express our gratitude to her loyal volunteers and extend an invitation to return at any time.

14.01.2022 We are excited to announce that our clients are now able to choose their main meals and soups from the menu below. Our dessert menu continually varies, so the kitchen will choose them for you. We have wanted to offer meal choice for a while, which some clients will love and some will still want us to select their meals for them - the choice is theirs!

12.01.2022 How lucky are we! These gifts have been donated from a program called ‘Grandies’ which are based at the Gold Coast. The Grandies program focuses on supporting the elderly. These gifts will be delivered to some of our clients this week, who have no idea they're receiving them which makes it even more special (they each get the whole bag full of presents). So lovely to see people of all ages getting into the Christmas spirit with a smile. Pictured are the very happy 'Grandies' deliverers.

12.01.2022 After one of our most challenging weeks, we're relieved to say every client has been personally phoned and checked up on, all have been fed this week without disruption and our volunteers have willingly adapted to the abrupt changes PLUS they're all stocked up on our donated toilet paper!

10.01.2022 One of our longest serving volunteers, Nerelle (pictured on the left) recently won the Volunteer of the Year 2019 Award through Volunteering Redlands. Thank you to Bendigo Community Bank for their cash prize for Nerelle and another thank you to Nerelle who kindly donated some of that cash to us. Congratulations to all volunteers nominated, including Ruth, standing on the right. Our President Val is in the middle of the photo.

09.01.2022 People's generosity continues to amaze us. Capalaba Central have donated boxes of Senior Citizen's Care Packs, each containing essential pantry staples. These will be distributed to our clients, who will as always, be very appreciative. These food items have been donated by local food retailers. Thank you Capalaba Central Shopping Centre for your incredible gesture of kindness.

08.01.2022 If you wish to help, can we ask that you check on your elderly neighbours, ask if they want any shopping done, or maybe ring them for a chat. We know from delivering meals that people will very quickly go downhill if they feel vulnerable or are left alone without any contact. Thank you.

04.01.2022 Auto & General Insurance (Budget Direct) in Brisbane have kindly given us a donation of money. We have in turn given this donation back to our community, and have surprised our clients with these beautiful muffins made locally by Elaine's on Gordon Cafe at Ormiston. 03.01.2022 What a Champion. For many years now Cleveland Meals on Wheels has been the winner in the Redlands RSL Community Golf Day receiving a very generous donation. This year we are absolutely delighted with our new board tables. There are three in total and we can configure them differently depending on our needs. They are great for our Volunteer Get togethers (when permitted), for our Staff Meetings and our Committee meetings. Thank you Redlands RSL

03.01.2022 Pictured here is our oldest client Nicholas at an amazing 104 years young. He loves cricket and is proudly wearing one of his many 'Grandies' gifts - a fabulous cricket hat. He still does crosswords and loved his crossword book. Such a treasure and still sharp as a pin.

02.01.2022 After 50 years the time has come to replace our walk-in freezer and cool room. To do this requires quite a bit of structural modification which will cost quite a bit. Consequently, we applied to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund for a Grant to carry out the modifications and equip the kitchen with additional stand-alone freezers. The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice advised that our application was successful and our local MP Mark Robinson MP came along with his giant cheque and presented it to our President Val Lovett. We will keep you posted on progress as our renovations progress. Many thanks to all those involved in this project.
