21.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.... Lest we forget.

20.01.2022 This week is National Food Safety Week - an opportunity to recognise the strict food safety procedures and operations, we, as an organisation helping nourish vulnerable members of our local community, are so proud of. In this current climate, food safety is more important than ever. At Meals on Wheels SA, we realise the value of enjoying a nutritious meal made to the highest quality and safety standards. In fact, our new HACCP certified production facility at Hilton has inc...reased our capability to do just that! You can see inside our new kitchen here: https://bit.ly/36EF0r6

16.01.2022 In this blistering hot weather it is important that we still check in on family, friends and loved ones. That’s why Meals on Wheels is so important: not just fo...r the food we deliver but also for the welfare checks. Over the next 48 hours, with temperatures set to peak above 40, make sure you check on your loved ones and assist them wherever you can. See more

14.01.2022 NATIONAL FOOD SAFETY WEEK People with lowered immunity are more susceptible to foodborne illnesses. Some bacteria, like Listeria, have become more prevalent over the last decade or two. The food preparation and storage practices that were commonplace years ago might put us at risk now, depending on our age and health conditions. You can find out more about how to maintain food safety at home here: https://www.foodstandards.gov.au//listeriabrochuretext.aspx

14.01.2022 Volunteering for Meals on Wheels is a rewarding way you can give back to your community and meet new people while having some fun along the way. You'll find many branches across South Australia bustling with good conversation and laughter, while volunteers go about their valuable duties. We are currently seeking kitchen volunteers, drivers and deliverers at the Mount Barker branch, as well as drivers and deliverers at the Edwardstown, Salisbury and Playford branches. If you'd like to lend a hand at these branches, get in touch today - https://www.mealsonwheelssa.org.au/support-us/volunteer

13.01.2022 To all our Meals on Wheels customers, Meals on Wheels is considered an essential service, and all meal services will continue to operate throughout the lock down period. Meals will be delivered to outside the door, with volunteers wearing masks, and using hand sanitiser in between each delivery.... Volunteers will still be able to check that you are ok and have received your meal from a distance. Please stay safe

12.01.2022 We set up a Meals on Wheels stall in Rundle Mall and persuaded everyday people to volunteer on it, to give them a taste of how surprisingly rewarding and enjoyable it can be. What's more, we filmed the whole thing!

12.01.2022 Thank you to The Southern Cross newspaper - Adelaide, for sharing our wonderful partnership with Catherine House - Support for Women Experiencing Homelessness, which they describe as one of the silver linings through COVID. Through the partnership we are now able to provide nutritious, balanced meals, completely free of charge, to women who are starting their journey back in the community," Catherine House Fundraising, Events and Marketing Manager, Jaylee Cooper says. 11.01.2022 It's Social Inclusion Week! At Meals on Wheels SA, we promote social inclusion to vulnerable South Australians through the friendly smiles and conversations we deliver to over 3,500 homes, every day. However, we also foster social inclusion through our diverse staff and volunteer workforce.... This photograph of Meals on Wheels Branch Chair, Charles was taken at the National Conference in Tasmania earlier this year. Charles has served on several committees and also plays a vital role in the branch following up the special diet requirements of our customers. From our multicultural team and the wonderful Bedford Group clients who volunteer for us every week, to volunteers who are still delivering meals well into their 90s, our volunteer opportunities are open and suitable to any age, ability, nationality or cultural background. Get in touch today to be a part of something great: https://bit.ly/3kWdGcN

11.01.2022 Today is World kindness Day. One kind word can change a persons entire day!

11.01.2022 From today, COVID-19 vaccinations will begin in Australia in a staged roll-out. The vaccine will reduce our community’s risk of COVID-19 outbreaks and help reduce the symptoms and side-effects of the virus. Meals on Wheels volunteers will be advised of vaccination timing and procedures when we are notified by the health authorities.... It is important to know the COVID-19 vaccine is free of charge for every Australian. Therefore, if you receive any phone calls or emails requesting credit card details in exchange for the vaccine, please do not pass on these details. For more information about the COVID-19 vaccine visit https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au//infectiou/covid-19/vaccine

05.01.2022 Meals on Wheels SA is committed to the health and safety of its customers and volunteers, especially in preventing the spread of COVID-19. In line with the South Australian Government’s latest advice, all volunteers are required to wear a face mask during meal deliveries from this Friday, the 4th of December. We are also asking our customers to leave a small table or chair outside their door, for deliverers to place their meal on. If a customer cannot easily get to their d...oor, one volunteer will enter your home, wearing their mask, and while maintaining 1.5m physical distancing, will deliver the meal. The social connection and wellbeing of our customers is important to us, so we will still perform our valuable social and wellbeing checks, just with some extra safety precautions. Thank you for supporting and adapting with us during these challenging times. For more information: https://bit.ly/2VrY86s

04.01.2022 On Friday afternoon, Meals on Wheels SA held an official opening of the corporate offices and commercial kitchen at Hilton. A much-anticipated event delayed by COVID-19 last year meant it was wonderful to have our key supporters tour the facility and network around drinks and nibbles. The official opening was attended by special guests and our Patrons, His Excellency The Honourable Hieu Van Le, AC and Her Excellency Mrs Lan Le.... His Excellency shared his support of our organisation before unveiling a plaque alongside MoWSA President, Bill Coomans. Guests also enjoyed speeches from Peter Malinauskas, Steve Georganas MP and Mayor of the City of West Torrens, Michael Coxon.
