20.01.2022 Back to basics, what actually is river sledding? You, a river (the Meander River), a sled (think blow up lilo) and some epic fun rapids. We take care of the small details (like wetsuits, helmets etc.), just book, arrive on time and get that smile ready for a fantastic day!

20.01.2022 Dans the man behind the scenes. Growing up in Launceston, Dan used to hit the river as a kid every weekend. Hes now sharing that unique experience with everyone. Dans the mastermind behind Meander Wilderness Experiences, the bookings expert, bus driver, wetsuit coordinator, sled pumper, course checker and photographer. ... The world has changed since I was a boy and while I cant share with you the experiences of my youth, I can give you this river sledding experience, which I reckon is a ripper. So come on out and have a gander at Meander! DANIEL WICKHAM, FOUNDER

20.01.2022 As much as its an adventurous activity it feels 100% safe so definitely recommended for all ages! ~ Laura

18.01.2022 Reliving the good times! We had a bumper of a season, with nearly twice as many people down the river this year it was a fantastic Summer. Have you been on the Meander with us? What was your best memory?

18.01.2022 Weve decided to close our season early. Usually, wed run until the start of May, the current times have forced us to reconsider. At Meander Wilderness Experiences we take the safety of our customers, staff and guides very seriously. We are very grateful for your support and ongoing engagement in MWE and have very much enjoyed a fantastic 2019/2020 season. We apologies for any disappointment that our early season closure has caused. We are scheduled to hit the river again at... the start of November 2020. If you are doing any forward planning, get in touch as we take private and group bookings. All gift vouchers are still valid for the 2020/21 season (and beyond!). Well personally be in touch with all future bookings. Well still be reliving the seasons highlights on Facebook over the off-season, also posting updates or announcements. Thank you, Daniel

17.01.2022 FAQ: Is it cold? Probably the most common question we get asked. To pass the question over to our guests: A beautiful section of the river and it was a lot warmer than we expected. We didnt get cold at all. Highly recommended. ~ Peter... The activity was absolutely great even the rain and cold weather didnt stop us to have fun (these wetsuits are magic haha) ~ Laura

16.01.2022 If youve been down the river with us, youve met Millie! Millie grew up on a farm at Avoca. With plenty of space and parents that gave her responsibility. Millie at around age 10, while her parents fought a large fire on the farm. Gave Millie and her brother the job of making peanut butter sandwiches home alone with instructions to jump in the South Esk river if the fire got too close. Millie would go on to spend a lot of time paddling rivers in Tasmania with a community who looked after her, now help her look after you. Join Millie, Ryan and Daniel on the river for an epic adventure at Meander.

15.01.2022 The Meander River is perfect for river sledding. Its not too deep and has grade 1-2 rapids. This makes it perfect for all ages and abilities. Its easy to get the hang of and an epic adventure!

13.01.2022 Tag a mate youd race down the river. There might be a couple of obstacles (rocks, rapids, other sledders) in the way, the winner is never certain!

10.01.2022 Meander is halfway between Devonport and Launceston, in the north of Tasmania. On the Meander River between Quamby Bluff and Mother Cummings Peak. Theres a lot to see, but a lot more when you get off the road. Fast-flowing but shallow, the river runs through the Tasmanian bush. The only chance to see hard to access places from a unique and one of a kind vantage point.

10.01.2022 Fantastic Day Out - great guides, well organised, great gear, magical location ... stop thinking about it people and DO IT Maree knows what shes talking about, well be seeing you on the Meander River soon! Well bring the wetsuits and gear; you just need to show up!

07.01.2022 What an experience if you can add it to your to-do list in Tassie - do it. Absolutely fantastic. Great team with a great concept. ~ Kate

07.01.2022 We often get asked if you get cold River Sledding. Our answer: no. When sledding youre on top of the water rather than in it. You will end up in the water occasionally and splashed quite a bit, but your wetsuit and jacket will keep you warm. Sledding requires a bit of upper body movement as well, staying active means youll keep nice and warm. ... Dont believe us? Youll just have to check it out for yourself!

07.01.2022 We supply all the gear to make sure you don’t get cold or uncomfortable. In the words of Tigga57 Give it a go!

07.01.2022 Great experience, heaps of fun. Be prepared to experience adrenaline, bumps, dunking and satisfaction in completing the course. Great guides and very well organised. ~ Jan

01.01.2022 Is River Sledding cold? NO! With the thrill of adventure and all your gear, you wont even notice the old. Dont let something like the thought of getting cold stop you from having fun. When youre on the river, youre moving, out of the water and in a 3mm wetsuit with another 3mm jacket over that. ... This keeps you warm and toasty, weve not had over 600 people down the river with us. Not one cold complaint!
