20.01.2022 Here is my response to Federal Labor and the VictorianState government’s commitment to extending funding to universal access to kindergarten for both 3 and 4 year old children and their families. The almost $2 billion budget will help to increase participation rates for at least 15 hours a week of quality kindergarten programs. As we have heard 90% of a child’s brain development occurs in the first 5 years of life. So this access to kindergarten programs is vital in providing... the foundations to life long learning. Studies have shown that students who participate in high quality education programs achieve better results and outcomes compared to those who miss out on pre school. These results prove the need for government to prioritise education over simple child care for children so parents can participate in the workforce. The current federal government sees this as too high a cost but it should instead be seen as an investment in our nation’s future. One of bright, innovative outcomes. See more
