25.01.2022 The growing demand for cognition and memory enhancing natural supplements has made nootropics a topic of interest lately. The term nootropic itself is actually a pharmacological term rather than one that relates to herbal medicine, and it has been adapted, you could say, to fit the profiles of certain herbs. And as you’re about to learn, there are a number of different herbs for memory and cognition.... The word nootropic comes from the Greek nous (meaning mind) and trepin (meaning turning). From this etymology, we get a meaning something along the lines of mind-turning or mind-bending. Before the term was ever coined, it’s likely that humans were already using a lot of nootropics, but it’s important to remember that the term itself is pharmaceutical more than anything. In terms of nootropic herbs (as well as pharmaceuticals when you think about it), there is almost always a stimulating quality. Stimulants typically excite the cellular communication in the brain, but some herbs focus primarily on the brain and others are overall physically stimulating. The stimulating effect sends blood to the brain, luring it into action. In this blog post, I delve deep into herbal nootropics, how they differ from adaptogens and nervines, and how you might choose a nootropic herb. I talk about gotu kola, rhodiola, sage, and brahmi. I also talk about the role psychedelics have to play in herbal nootropics. Medera currently stocks two nootropic products: STFU Monkey Mind (although this is a nervine/nootropic blend) and Brain Tincture (made with pure nootropics). 24.01.2022 ... It's always beautiful. When you're singing and dancing and getting captivated by stories, you actually can't be ugly. Equally, when you're crying in despair because you lost what you love, you actually can't be ugly.... The truth can't be ugly. #speakthetruth #everydayherbs #herballife #naturalhealth #collageart #collageartist #melbournecollageartist #madeinmelbourne #handmadeinaustralia #herbalistsofinstagram #melbourneherbalist #herbseveryday #healthyliving #howtobethebestyou
17.01.2022 There is, truly, only one thing left to do; one thing that can turn around the perpetual identity crisis you live with every single day; the constant state of conflict. . Accept that, at the very root of who you are, is a union of opposites. Joy and suffering, love and hate, pain and pleasure. Accept that there will always be both along the way.... Accept that there is no road you can take that's without pain. Accept that. Everybody is feeling it because it is fundamentally human. What defines you is not whether you feel pain or not, but how eloquently the two parts of you dance together. Beauty, my friends, is not the destruction of what hurts. It's the dance and the love between what brings us pleasure and what brings us pain. #overcomepain #painart #paincollageart #yinyang #balance #collageart #melbournecollageartist #collageartist #collageworldwide #beautifulbizarre #naturalhealth #herbsformentalhealth #herbsforpain
16.01.2022 : : Passiflora incarnata : The woodlands, savannahs, streams, parries, plains, riverbanks, and meadows of the eastern USA.... : Flavonoids (apigenin, luteolin, scopoletin) and luteolin glycosides, vitamin, quercetin, rutin, and C-glycosides, indole alkaloids, amino acids (including GABA), fatty acids (linoleum, linolenic, palmitic), phytosterols, volatile oil, and coumarins. : Used traditionally in Brazil, Iran, Turkey and India in many different ethnobotanical settings. These mainly revolved around the myriad manifestations of neurological and emotional diseases and illnesses. : Very much like its traditional uses, passionflower is used in modern herbalism for the treatment of anxiety, high blood pressure due to stress, and to induce sleep. Its best use is in night-time anxiety that interferes with sleep, allowing the individual to wake feeling refreshed. ? Medera uses passionflower in its STFU Monkey Mind tea. We combine it with other antidepressant, adaptogenic, and sedative herbs such as Californian poppy, Brahmi, Chinese date and Lemon balm. We also include it in our Lucid Dreamer tea to prevent overwhelm in the dreaming experience. 08.01.2022 Little talked about except for in the private gatherings of ancient, still existing civilizations; oneirogens. They are the herbs that make you dream; the botanical keys to the mysterious place we spontaneously find ourselves some nights, in the middle of our sleep. Oneirogens are a class of herbs on their own, in that all the herbs in this group bring on a dream-like state of consciousness or they induce more vivid dreaming. But what we’ve long forgotten about in the West,... and what Australia’s Indigenous people’s culture is founded on is dreamtime. The place where things and situations are halfway between non-manifest and manifest. Oneirogens are a class of herbs that offer us the opportunity to consciously engage in dreaming, not something most of us can do on demand. Lucid dreaming is a skill some people have to practice to be able to achieve but there are plants that have, over the years, helped humans get there a little faster. In this article, we go through some of the world's famous oneirogenic herbs and other ones that you would never have dreamed were dream herbs, such as tobacco. Medera uses oneirogenic herbs in its Lucid Dreamer formula, so once you're done reading the article, head over to https://medera.com.au/products/lucid-dreamer to get yourself a jar. 05.01.2022 A sick body is one that's . That's the only definition of sick we have. So you see, you have to listen in and find out the circumstances. Which is more a matter of trying to understand than trying to cure. Once you're listening in and you know the circumstances, you're on the right track. You've got a direction. You can avoid triggers and instead indulge in those things that strengthen you. Then you're like David, fighting the giant... demon that is YOURSELF with some stones and a sling. You're using the world around you consciously. In this way, to start any kind of journey into healing, you have to first stop acknowledge your body. Listen to those nagging pinches and pain. Acknowledge those aching muscles, that headache, or that fatigue. When you start , you start . #everydayherbs #herbseveryday #collageart #melbourneherbalist #herbalistofmelbourne #herbalistofinstagram #melbournegirl #herbsforhealing #healbylistening #melbournecollageartist #melbournecollage #organichealth #prudentselfcare #womenshealth #herbalskincare #madeinmelbourne #handamdeinaustralia
04.01.2022 Could you love yourself as much as you love some of your favourite characters? I ask myself this all the time because I read a lot, and I fall in love with characters often. Could you read the story of your life as if you were reading the story of Ophelia or the stories of Olga, Masha and Irina? Or could you read the story of your life the same way you read the story of Charlie Bucket or Matilda? Remember those characters we used to love (and probably still do) whose ...lives were completely dysfunctional but they were magic and we loved them anyway? Remember how cool we thought Matilda was even though her family was made up of losers and her school was, too? And lots of people didn't like Matilda but EVERYBODY on the other side of the screen did. Remember when we could see those characters who were teased or bullied or were black sheep and we could love them because they were special, unique, and had beautiful hearts? When was the last time you reconnected with that childhood part of you that wanted to move things using telekinesis because of how much you loved Matilda? It's the same part of you that can see straight through being bullied, being sick, having no friends, or having a dysfunctional family, and can see into the magical heart of a little person being special in a mundane world. Imagine all the possibilities if we could read our own life stories the way we watch our favourite characters unfold. #everydayherbs #melbournecollage #collageartist #naturalhealth #herbsformentalhealth #innerchild #alchemicalthoughts #selftransformation #melbournegirl #herbalskincare #handmadeinmelbourne #herbalistsofinstagram #melbourneherbalist #australianmade
