24.01.2022 [3/3] The final stage of our John Tonkin College project was a website refresh to better reflect the modern and vibrant culture of the school. In particular, we wanted to highlight JTC’s Surf Science Program and their unique focus on outdoor and marine education. The new site is fresh, responsive and much easier to navigate.

21.01.2022 The Homes for Good initiative was sparked during the first wave of COVID-19, when our friends at Home Hub saw the desperate need for housing during crises. During the recent devastating WA bushfires, Homes for Good provided home owners with the opportunity to use their empty homes or spare rooms as immediate temporary housing for people impacted by the fires. Within just three days, the initiative was able to provide accomodation to over 75 people including vulnerable community members, people with disability and older Australians. Partnering with organisations like Home Hub to support their on-the-ground impact is at the heart of our Make it Happen projects.

20.01.2022 Aboriginal Medical Care 360 provides culturally appropriate primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Their vision is for healthy, happy communities built on a foundation of positive relationships. In 2019 we worked with them to develop and deliver a brand identity and applications, including a new website. We worked in close partnership with local Noongar/Yamatji artist Connie Clinch, whose artwork formed the basis for the new brand identity. 19.01.2022 [1/3] We worked with independent public school John Tonkin College in Mandurah to update the school’s website and refresh their brand. JTC wanted to highlight their values, part in the community, and positive student culture. We began by working with @sumeffectstudio to create a collection of photos and videos with a particular focus on students engaging with the many specialist programs offered by the school.

13.01.2022 [2/3] A major focus of our work with John Tonkin College was refreshing the school’s brand. This included updating the old logo and typeface while maintaining the feel of the original brand. We also developed a fresh colour palette and supporting elements, which drew from JTC’s previous logo. The new brand is professional, modern and vibrant.

12.01.2022 Make it Happen is a Media on Mars initiative designed to help good projects get off the ground. As communicators and strategists, we support organisations to make their projects a reality. After 22 years experiencing the traditional procurement model fail to deliver effective social change, Make it Happen was born. Make it Happen is involved in the decision-making process at the genesis of a project. We provide organisations with the business strategy and design thinking to e...nsure the project is successful, despite a diminishing public purse, in having the greatest social impact it can. Make it Happen projects focus on mutually beneficial partnerships to drive change it isn't about working pro-bono. All parties share the responsibility to deliver results. This removes the traditional supplier relationship, instead we work with the organisation every step of the way. 11.01.2022 We recently launched a one-page website for IDEA: Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy, a portfolio-based education program for students in years 11 and 12. The program encourages ‘real-world’ learning, enabling students to access an international network of program facilitators and mentors. Students explore how their passions, interests and talents can meet the needs of a changing world. When creating the logo our designers played around with simple, geometric shapes. ...This led to the building block style composition of the four letter logo and also informed the shapes used as secondary elements in the website and other collateral. 08.01.2022 When Shelter WA came to Mars for help with a new campaign addressing the WA housing crisis, we knew it had to be bold, honest and approachable. We developed the name ‘Unlock Housing’ as an evocative call to action, drawing on the imagery of unlocking something that was previously unavailable in this case, housing for WA’s most vulnerable people. The logotype incorporates an open padlock in its design, and shares Shelter WA’s colour palette and type family, forming a visual ...link between the organisation and their campaign. 07.01.2022 As part of Media on Mars’ ongoing workplace wellbeing journey, we ran an internal values workshop with the whole Mars team. We started by considering our personal values what is important to each of us and how we bring that into our workplace. We then identified ways in which the values of Media on Mars also show up while we work. The workshop helped us recognise the things we find important and create a set of internal values that we all had a hand in putting together.

04.01.2022 DADAA provides access to arts and cultural activities for people with a disability or a mental illness. We worked in partnership with the DADAA team to bring to life their powerful stories and vision through wayfinding and signage. The brief was complex as the signage needed to consider accessibility and heritage guidelines as well as design principles. All the internal signage was painted onto the walls to ensure they were not damaged in any way. External signage was instal...led to the mortar line to keep the heritage bricks untouched. DADAA’s primary client group is people with intellectual, sensory, physical disabilities and mental health issues. We chose a clear, easy to ready typeface and displayed the signage at an appropriate height for those in a wheelchair to make the signage accessible for DADAA's clients, sub-tenants and the visiting public. The signage needed to look professional, be legible, but also express DADAA’s unique personality. We achieved this by choosing a very clean, but slightly quirky typeface. The signage was constructed by Artcom Fabrication Design Groupabrication Design Group, with sign writing by Designco Signs. #madebymars
