21.01.2022 During the stage 4 restrictions, we will be making some changes to the way that we operate to help reduce the number of staff on site and do our part to keep everyone in our community safe. This will mean some changes to the way you access care, but rest assured, we are still open. 1. Only one, or at most two, doctors will be at the clinic at any one time, while the rest work off site. This means you may have to wait a little longer than usual to see your preferred doctor, bu...t you can still have a consultation by phone. As during stage 3, we are strongly encouraging phone consultations wherever possible. 2. There will also only be one receptionist on site, which may mean a slightly longer waiting time on the phone. If you can't get through, feel free to email us, someone will be checking the emails regularly. 3. Our opening hours will change slightly from day to day, and we will be closing at 7:30 to allow staff to get home before curfew. All available appointments can be seen and booked via our online booking system, or reception will be happy to help you. We encourage everyone to stay home as much as possible and stay safe in this time, we hope to see you all again soon!

20.01.2022 This year marks the 20th anniversary of Harmony Day, so our diversity is being celebrated for the entire week of 18/03 - 23/03 in Harmony Week. In light of the horrible recent events in NZ, this offers us an opportunity to reflect on what makes Australia great; our compassion and inclusiveness. People of all cultures and religions should feel safe and accepted in our schools, on our streets, in places of business, and should be able to freely access the exemplary medical care which Australia has to offer.

19.01.2022 The Easter Bunny is still scheduled to make an appearance this year, so just a quick reminder that we will be closed from Good Friday, the 10/04/2020, to Easter Monday, the 13/04/2020, inclusive. Have a safe and happy Easter!

08.01.2022 Flu season is on its way, and this year will be complicated by the concurrent Covid-19 pandemic. There is a risk of co-infection with both viruses, so it is strongly recommended that anyone vulnerable receive their influenza vaccination this year. The following special groups are eligible for the government funded vaccine; children aged 6 months - 5 years; seniors over 65 years; anyone with a chronic health condition; all ATSI people and; pregnant women. To expedite your vac...cination, Medical Centre 291 is running vaccination clinics on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning; these will be brief appointments with the nurse to receive a vaccination only, if you need to see the doctor for any other reason, please make an appointment with your regular practitioner. We currently have stock of the 65 year old and over vaccine only, but should be getting vaccinations for other age groups within the next week.

08.01.2022 Fear of coronavirus is spreading through Australia far faster than the virus itself, so here is a quick useful tool to help you decide whether you could be at risk. Please remember that the measures currently being implemented by the government are for prevention, and not a response to an outbreak - case numbers in Australia continue to rise very slowly. For the most up to date information, please visit the DHHS website at dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus

05.01.2022 Flu season is well and truly upon us, and the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is by getting the flu shot! This year, children under 5 have been a dded to the government immunisation program, and there is a new high dose targeted vaccine for over 65s. Plenty of stock in the fridge, so book an appointment and come on down!

04.01.2022 Do you know someone who is about to turn 80? Have they had their shingles vaccination yet? This vaccine is available free for people between the ages of 70 - 79, but can be quite pricey for those not in the qualifying age bracket. So if you know someone who's about to turn 80, ask the question and then tell them to speak to their doctor. Immunisation across your lifetime is important, so don't let people you know, miss out.

04.01.2022 And just like that, it's all over! My time back at MC291 has come to a close. I'd like to say a very big thank you to all the wonderful people who I got to say hello to over the past few months. It's been an absolute pleasure seeing all your faces again, and getting lots of hugs and love from everyone. So, until next time (because let's face it, if I've come back once, there's always a chance) - Jay xx

01.01.2022 As Melbourne enters another period of lock down, we would just like to check in and reassure you that we are still open and here for you. To protect ourselves and the community we have had to make some changes to the way we operate however. 1. We are currently only booking phone consultations, but if your doctor feels that you require a face to face review, then they will arrange a suitable time for you to come in. 2. Please be patient with the staff, both reception and docto...rs. We know it feels that you are being asked the same questions again and again, but our protocols are to make sure we identify you correctly and keep your confidentiality, as well as helping us assess coronavirus risk. 3. Please do continue coming in for your routine health care, it is still important to get you blood pressure checked, your pap smear done, and any other ailments treated. 4. We may have some unexpected staffing changes or early closures depending on exposure risk. Our primary goal is to keep you safe, so please be understanding if your appointment has to be changed. Remember to stay home, wear your mask if you go out, and regularly check the DHHS website for further updates.
