24.01.2022 In case you have heard about changes coming to the delivery of Medicare funded Telehealth services, we want to clarify that these do not apply to Allied Health.
23.01.2022 Did you know the first sports bra was literally two jock straps sewn together? And now we have passionate researchers like Dr Jenny Burbage looking at ways to better understand breast biomechanics for professional and recreational athletes. Check out her areas of research here: https://researchportal.port.ac.uk//jenny/publications.html
22.01.2022 Guess what sort of exercise Alex is doing right here?! If you think pelvic floor exercises then you guessed CORRECTLY! The pelvic floor covers a group of muscles that span the bottom of the pelvis and support the bladder, bowel and uterus. And they’re a crew you want to keep happy and at work preventatively to avoid having any issues! Research shows that correctly prescribed pelvic floor exercises can prevent incontinence and prolapse (we know that 1 in 4 women experience pelvic floor problems). #exerciseismedicine

22.01.2022 The dandelion (Taraxacum officials) is said to be a symbol of life and associated with hope and dreams that come true. We found this ripe seed clock on our morning walk. It seems a good reminder to stay positive in this tricky time and to keep doing what we can. 1 One thing that is within all of our own control is our fitness. I heard of a friend who recently, while in hotel quarantine, did a 5km run around his hotel room. ... How are you keeping active at the moment?
20.01.2022 Are you an NDIS Participant? Have you wondered about whether you can have Exercise Physiology included in your plan? Have a read of this great explainer:
18.01.2022 People living in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will be required to wear a face covering when leaving home, effective after 11.59pm Wednesday 22 July. The Victorian Sate Government states there will be some reasons not to wear a face covering. For example, those who have a medical reason, kids under 12 years of age, those who have a professional reason or if it’s just not practical, like when running however you will still be expected to carry your fac...e covering at all times to wear when you can. Wearing a mask during exercise comes with issues of potential breathing restriction and discomfort. Most people will be able to exercise safely wearing a face mask, but it's important to consider air-flow and to slow down if you experience dizziness. The Stay at Home Directions also state that restrictions do not impact allied health services so you may leave home to obtain medical services. Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals so YOU CAN continue to see them during this pandemic. Your healthcare workers must wear a surgical mask, practice social distancing and hand hygiene. #ExerciseRight #ExerciseRightatHome

Timber Tucker Club was a collab with @sallymariemou and @wifewiththelife for Katherine West Health Board.

08.01.2022 This run only lasted about 10m. ...... ... ... Did you know that the most important part of ‘exercising’ is the bit where you actually do it?! You can run, walk, hop, skip, dance, ride, skate, sprint, lift ...or a little of all of them! Sometimes finding the path can be tricky and that’s where an Exercise Physiologist can help. Get something active done most days and you will be on to a good thing! #movementismedicine #workoutwednesday

Here are the facts: 1) Exercise Physiologist are allied health professionals and these services are still operating to keep you on track to better health during this pandemic. 2) You can still leave your home to go to an exercise physiology clinic during this time. 01.01.2022 EXERCISE IS FOR EVERYONE!!! Exercise doesn’t mind how old you are or what your health status is, everyone needs regular movement to stay healthy. If you are in the 50% of non exercising Australian adults, one of the 9 out of the 10 teens or one of the 3 in 4 older folk that are wanting to start moving more, here are some tips for getting started:... Start slow - Build up your activity levels gradually until you're getting at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity every week. Every little bit counts - Making lifestyle changes like taking the stairs, walking more and getting incidental exercise all help to keep you healthier. Sit less - Try to break up long periods of sitting with short periods of movement. Get advice - It's OK to ask for help! If you're living with a chronic condition, long-term injury or persistent pain, then an Accredited Exercise Physiologist can help to ensure you're exercising safely for your individual needs. Make it a priority - Make a commitment to put your health first. If you don't feel like you have time for exercise, then MAKE TIME. Schedule regular physical activity into your diary like you would any other appointment. Keep track - To help you keep track of your physical activity levels, we've created a free, downloadable activity tracker for Exercise Right Week. Head to our website to download it now. #ExerciseRightWeek2020 #MovementisMedicine #Thursdate - with yourself
