25.01.2022 At Medics Australia our qualified Medics are becoming increasingly concerned at the serious and dangerous levels of dehydration seen in young athletes at school and club sports. Water is all that is required and hydration programmes should be commenced as soon as the athlete gets up. Drinking a few ml of water immediately before exercise does not adequetly hydrate. Sports drinks should be avoided pre exercise. Caffeine based drinks should not be consumed before or during exer...cise. Our Medics conduct a simple 20 second hydration test for athletes at school and club sporting events. Please share and book your Medic, discounts for under 18 events. 1300 73 78 75 medicsaustralia.com.au See more
24.01.2022 Medics Australia will be ready and organized to assign qualified Medics to School sports just as soon as things begin to return to normal. It is a sobering thought that some students have not had any School sport in 2020 due to bush fires, poor air quality, heavy rains, floods, even a couple of days over 40 degrees C, and subsequent ground closures. Such a shame when sport and physical activities are an essential part of their curriculum which enhances their physical development, mental health, physical/mental coordination and general well being. 24.01.2022 If you're a qualified health-care professional (doctor, paramedic, nurse etc) be wary of assisting a patient (customer or employee) at at a Westfield Centre during a medical emergency. No matter how carefully you identify yourself and no matter how diligently you explain the circumstances of the incident and the need for cautious action, you are likely to be told by a posse of moronic security officers 'this is private property, get out of our way, we have to write a report' After explaining that their action is highly inappropriate and prejudicial to the patient's condition, they will justify their action with...'I'm first aid trained'....forcebly push you aside, and proceed to give inadequate, incomplete, and totally incorrect information to 000 resulting in a dangerous delay. Hope the patient made it.

19.01.2022 Its good to learn that schools are moving towards the resumption of on-site academic, sporting and extra-curricular activities. Our qualified and reliable Medics have been busy maintaining their training; medical kits are due to be inspected this week to ensure that all are fully stocked with in date supplies, and uniforms are all laundered. Schools indicate that they expect sports to resume, with some restrictions, almost as soon as students return to school so we have ens...ured that our Medics will be available at short notice; you can be sure of exemplary First Aid cover for your students, staff, officials, and (if allowed) spectators as soon as school resumes. After an extended period in home isolation students will not return to physical activity as fit as we all remember them and this may lead to injury during sports. Medics will be alert for injuries, compromised respiratory conditions, and any on field physical stresses caused by a reduction in fitness or limited preparation for sports. We are also aware that a lack of sporting opportunities may have an impact on the mental health and/or confidence and self-esteem of some students especially those who have been denied pathway opportunities as many programs and competitions have been cancelled in 2020. Some students will have looked forward, and even expecting, to progressing to Zone or District, All Schools, State, or even National representation and will now miss out This is particularly relevant for students in their final year of Primary or Secondary School and for whom there can be no try again next year. We ae looking forward to working with you again throughout 2020 and beyond and we thank you for your support for Medics Australia our office remains open 24/7 and your enquiries, feedback, and input are all very welcome. medicsaustralia.com.au 1300 73 78 75
17.01.2022 We understand the predicament in which many Sporting Clubs and Associations now find themselves and we accept that a number of events will have to be cancelled as we all take precautions surrounding COVID-19. We are waiving ALL cancellation charges within our Sports Division where bookings for our Medics are cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns with 2 days (or more) notice. Tough times for us all, but everyone at MEDICS AUSTRALIA is committed to supporting all Sports, at all levels, across Australia l. We know its a changing situation and we'll ensure that our qualified and reliable Medics are available at short notice when, and if, officials are able to re-schedule fixtures or events... for further information please call 1300 73 78 75. medicsaustralia.com.au

15.01.2022 Few first aid providers can prove they have minimum $20 million public liability insurance as demanded by Dept of Education and Catholic Education Office. Medics Australia will send you our current insurance certificate on request. Our Medics are all qualified, reliable, fully equipped, and insured. We DO NOT rely on the questionably legal practice of claiming OUR staff are members of other organizations for insurence. Dept of Ed and CEO are quite clear, any supplier with whom you contract MUST have public liability insurence in THEIR name. Please share www.medicsaustralia.com.au 1300 73 78 75
15.01.2022 All of us at Medics Australia congratulate everyone involved in school and junior sport for the way they have operated during the COVID-19 pandemic; we send good vibes to teachers, coaches, administrators and students for the Return to School in NSW. While many sporting 'pathway' or 'rep' competitions may have been put 'on hold' until Term 3, we are aware that many Schools are organising 'in school' fixtures, Gala Days, House/Faction fixtures, or informal competition for th...e weeks ahead. We are immediately confirming Medics to be on duty at all School events and their reliability is guaranteed. Medics will ensure that appropriate precautions are in place for COVID-19 as well as delivering qualified First Aid to injured players and officials. Sport is a vital component of students' activities which, regardless of the level of participation, contributes to their physical and mental health, fitness, team building, character development, and all round well being so we look forward to being part of your 'Back to School' Team. Please contact MEDICS AUSTRALIA on 1300 73 78 75 or medicsaustralia.com.au for immediate confirmations.
14.01.2022 All of us at Medics Australia are devastated to hear of the tragic passing of Kenny To in USA. Ken worked for us as a highly respected and compassionate Sports Medic while at university in Sydney. His reliability, integrity, and clinical skills received sincere accolades from patients and clients. Deepest condolences to Ken's family. RIP.
13.01.2022 As we get into school and community sport for 2020, our qualified Sports Medics issue an urgent request to all PDHPE teachers, sports convenors, MICs of sports, and coaches of school and community based sports..... PLEASE stop the automatic and habitual use of ice for the so called 'treatment' of injuries. The irresponsible overuse, and the dangerous misuse, of ice in the junior sporting space has reached dangerous levels and it can only be a matter of time before a teacher o...r coach is found to be negligent and held to be personally liable. Whilst, very occasionally, RICER may (note: MAY) be appropriate for more serious soft tissue injuries, the indiscriminate use of ice on has reached toxic and dangerous levels. If a player is so badly injured that they genuinely NEED ice, they are too badly injured to continue sport for that day and must be referred to a doctor..... Happy to clarify, discuss, or to expand at staff PD meetings. Please share medicsaustralia.com.au 1300 73 78 75 See more
13.01.2022 OMG..... thanks for so many calls and messages regarding the TV shots of some dumb arse trainer 'examining' and 'treating' the obviously injured foot/ankle of Cherry-Evans by twisting, rotating, and manipulating it to cause the player excruciating pain. How can you examine or diagnose an injury, or comtemplate any treatment, in the middle of the pitch while the boot and sock is still on FFS? Could have been an open or complex fracture(s), a dislocation, a sub lux, a ruptured ligament or a major bleed or a hematoma just to name a few possibilities under that boot.... appalling, negligent, and dangerous so called medical care.
12.01.2022 An urgent plea from our qualified Sports Medics to all PDHPE teachers, junior club and school coaches, sports convenors, & MICs of sports..... 10.01.2022 Medics Australia is ready and organized to assign qualified Medics to School sports as things begin to return to normal. 09.01.2022 Can someone please explain..... 2,000 kids are allowed to be in school together, today at 2.00pm a group of approx 50 well behaved students were crammed into our local Maccas with absolutely no suggestion of the 1.5m rule, at our local shopping center at 3.30pm there were at least 6 groups of up to 10 students walking around, some arm-in arm, but no regard for 1.5m. Someone PLEASE tell me why these same kids are not allowed to participate in school sport, to run around a school athletics track, or to swim in a school carnival.

04.01.2022 As Health Care Professionals many of the Medics in our Schools Division are reporting dangerously high levels of dehydration amongst students participating in School Sport while unnecessarily wearing skins (boys and girls, all ages) .. Skins are essentially warm-up garments, the muscles overheat during the game and take fluid from the body to cool. Skins are invariably only a fashion item during sport and not conducive to students' well being. Happy to discuss www.medicsaustralia.com.au
04.01.2022 Medics Australia welcomes back to school all the school sports associations and PDHPE teachers, convenors and coaches with whom we work throughout the year to ensure qualified and reliable first aid is available to your students at all events. medicsaustralia.com.au 1300 73 78 75

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Baseball NSW for doing everything possible to reschedule Little League NSW Championships post COVID-19 We have confirmed our support and sponsorship of the revised NSW Little League program to ensure on site qualified medical cover for players and officials. 01.01.2022 Such a shame that we have all lost so much baseball this year. Easter and April just wasn't the same without Little League and the other Championships, and now the disappointing but understandable cancellation of Country Champs. Medics Australia will extend its sponsorship of Baseball by the period we have all been forced out of action due to COVID-19. medicsaustralia.com.au 1300 73 78 75

01.01.2022 If I hear one more unqualified, uninsured, unregistered person with little or no training or clinical education, call themselves 'a physiotherapist' or 'the tea...m physio' I swear I will do something dramatic. Why does the Australian Physiotherapist Association do NOTHING about this widespread practice?...Its illegal to misrepresent yourself as a Medical Professional. Why do some schools and sporting organizations perpetuate this practice by telling players and parents they have 'a Physio' on duty when they do not? And, most disgracefully, why do Registered Physiotherapists place unqualified people at sporting events, allegedly to provide cover, when they are poorly equipped, untrained, and responsible for no more than issuing 'referals' to get the absolute maximum number of people from the sports fixture into the Physiotherapist's clinic? 01.01.2022 Congratulations Natalie Chokbengboun. You are the latest of many Medics from Medics Australia to complete your 12 months post graduation with ASNSW to become a fully qualified Paramedic. Gundagai is lucky to have you.
01.01.2022 Its 'welcome back' to all our Medics who have spent the last 3 weeks on placement with Ambulance NSW; congratulations on completing this important exercise, we're sure you had many valuable learning experiences during a year that has provided a variety of challenges. The additional skills you have learnt, and the boost to your confidence, will be invaluable as you provide qualified and reliable cover to our clients...... it's good to have you back.
