16.01.2022 #wisdomwednesday - this quote seems particularly important in today's modern era. Though the whole context is more important than just this phrase. I am a fan of British liberalism myself, probably because of how I view history and human nature. . . This ancient idea of less laws and more personal responsibility resonates with me. Take our new covid restrictions for example. I wish people had taken more personal responsibility during the beginning of the pandemic so that the... draconian laws our government has instituted didn't have to be instituted. . . I don't look at government as my guiding light and I don't think anyone should. I wish we had all just done what was suggested and advised instead of waiting for laws to be passed. I also don't blame the government for doing what they have done, except for those that use these situations to further their political and 'moral' objectives. That applies to both sides of the political aisle, both sides are equally guilty regardless of my personal opinion. . . More laws = less justice. See more

01.01.2022 Today's #teachingtuesday is on Feudalism. Feudalism was one of the most common forms of "government" throughout medieval Europe. It entailed a system of land decided up amongst various levels of social classes. . . Land (property) was granted to a vassal by a lord in exchange for service. Often military service. .... . The amount of time to be served was loosely based on the size and or productivity of the land. Though this changed based on the time, location and productivity of the land. . . Of course this is a super simplified and generalised idea of feudalism, we could go much deeper into the subject of you would like. However, for the Australian school curriculum this is what you typically need to understand. . . . Let me know if you like this style of post and I will keep creating them. . . @medievalmatt See more
