If arranged, you may come in to pickup referrals and prescriptions, but if you have any of the following: - fever 37.5C or over OR cold/flu symptoms (cough, sore throat, runny nose, etc), OR - overseas travel in the last 14 days, OR - contact with a confirmed case of COVID19 Please do not enter the surgery. 21.01.2022 Our phones and internet are not working today Tues 8 Oct 2019, Telstra advised of an outage which will take days to fix. We have limited (one mobile) connection to the practice via our main number 8765 0777. Please be patient when trying to contact us. We apologise for this inconvenience but there is nothing more we can do but wait.

20.01.2022 From 1 January 2020 we have become a mixed billing practice. We will continue to Bulk Bill: - children - students regardless of age - DVA cardholders... Concession card holders such as pensioners are charged a discounted fee with a gap fee of around $11. Other patients are charged a fee (gap fee of $31.80 for a standard consultation). If you are in financial hardship please discuss the fees with your GP. We are introducing mixed billing to ensure we can continue to provide good quality general practice services. 20.01.2022 Disturbing news on supplements! An Australian study has looked at complementary and alternative medicines available in Australia. Almost half were contaminated. A fifth with some animal products - DNA from dogs, rats, cow even reindeer and frog fragments were found. In 40% no detectable DNA was found at all - that means not even plant material that was listed on the packaging. https://ajp.com.au//australian-pharmacies-selling-contami/

20.01.2022 To ensure all our patients and staff are safe from COVID-19, we have setup a COVID station outside the practice. All patients are triaged before entering the practice. While we encourage all patients to make phone based consultations there are times when you may need to visit us in person. All patients entering the practice MUST wear a face mask so if you have one please bring it with you. The entry to the practice has been moved to the staff carpark entry. We appreciate your understanding. Together we can keep each other safe.

18.01.2022 We have made a difficult decision: from 15 July 2019 for all NEW patients to the practice we will be charging private fees for GP consultations (Medicare rebate available if eligible). We will however Bulk Bill children and students. This will not affect EXISTING practice patients who we will continue to Bulk Bill Mon-Fri. For more details see our website page http://www.medplaza.com.au/about.html

18.01.2022 NSW Health have now exhausted the supply of 2020 Fluvaxes for those aged 65 and over. We also have stock of vaccines for all other ages.

15.01.2022 COVID-19 COVID-19 is the illness caused by the SARS-CoV2 virus. Most of those infected (80%) will have no or mild symptoms -cold-like only. However, 1 in 5 will require medical support. ... 6% of those infected will have severe illness requiring hospitalisation. The death rate varies from country to country but is usually between 1-3%. The greatest risk factor is advanced age, but chronic medical conditions, esp. respiratory conditions, are also risk factors. Currently, there is no treatment or vaccination. Management is usually supportive. In severe cases ventilatory support may be required. Many treatments are currently being trialed. Prevention of infection through distancing and healthy lifestyle are the most important!

12.01.2022 Next Flu vax delivery next week. Flu vaccinations have been in very high demand. We have run out of vaccines from our first delivery from the government. Next batch is expected to be delivered next week. We will keep you posted. There is no need to rush as the flu season has not started yet and the vaccine does not provide any protection against coronavirus.

10.01.2022 Update from Telstra re. phones Telstra claims to have fixed our lines except that many patients say the call just rings out. We are only receiving the odd call so the lines are only working intermittently. According to Telstra they are working perfectly. Please book online. We are trying to resolve this as soon as possible.
