25.01.2022 Happy International Women’s Day! In celebration of IWD 2021 we have the privilege to co-host the Zonta Club of Botany Bay’s inaugural Young Women’s Networking Event and was it just absolutely energising! There is so many areas of our world where we need to work on achieving gender equality. Identifiably in Australia, women are being paid 85c to the $1 (13% pay gap) and although we represent 50.5% of the private sector workforce, only 32.5% of key management are women. For Me...et Her our focus is to empower young women to confidently strive for their career aspirations - to its highest levels. Change starts at the very beginning of the career lifecycle and we promise to do our part in the fight towards gender equality. Yesterday’s event was the reminder that we needed to keep doing the work that we are doing. To keep motivating & inspiring our young women to not just dream big, but aim high and be bold in our ambitions. Most importantly, it was a reminder that there is so much support out there for young women, from not only one another but also from the the generations of women who have come before & see the place we hold in tomorrow’s future.
25.01.2022 Our stories makes us who we are. Let’s remember everyone has their own story to tell & to carry (image via @keepitcleaner) I have been MIA on Meet Her since our Zonta IWD Event. This genuinely saddens me because I want to ensure I show up for this community & have it do what it can to empower young women. In my personal life, myself and my family have experienced a few losses in the past few weeks and so taking him to process & go through the motions has been necessary. Admit...tedly, the chapter of healing has only just begun but a part of my healing is reinstating my promise to myself that I will make the very most of this life and do my part in making it better. I want to share a line of thought to empower you into action: ‘It may seem impossible to change the world, but it is possible to change someone’s life. And if even just half of us changed a few peoples lives in our lifetimes, we would have in fact changed their world’... This was a line that came up for me in the last few days and fuelled my perseverance in believing in our power in this world. Change makers all have their stories to realising why and how they can bring about change for the better for either themselves or for others, what’s you? We want to hear your stories. Inspire us in our DM’s about your story to wanting to do better, be better and make better.

24.01.2022 Say it again. And a little louder! ... Confidence is a complex concept that is easier to say the word than truly understand its value. As explored in the TED Talk by Brittany Packnett (@mspackyetti , we place so much significance on knowledge and resources yet underestimate the importance of confidence in the equation to achieving our defined version of success. We are all on a journey to building our sense of self confidence, going from saying we believe in ourselves to AC...TUALLY believing in ourselves. It’s a journey that is not easy, especially when walked alone. We at Meet Her believe that together we can work to boost the confidence of our fellow ladies and in return will boost confidence in ourselves too. A works filled with confident womxn is one that can bring about impactful change. A world filled with confident womxn is one resilient, empathic and loving. A world filled with confident womxn is one we want to live in. See more

23.01.2022 Setting and accomplishing your goals are two seperate pieces of the puzzle requiring different steps in order to achieve your ultimate long-term aspirations. In a time when we have time but still find ourselves stuck, here are some ways you can set yourself goals and take steps to achieving them. NOTE: goals are not just for your career or professional development but can also be personal, spiritual or psychological ~ it’s about wanting to be a little bit better and engaging ...with that process. GOAL-SETTING Carve out dedicated time to sit down and reflect on where you want to grow, what you may want to improve on, who you want to be or where you see yourself in the future. Write down what it is you reflected on to the above prompts - these are the goals you are setting yourself. Pick up the phone and tell a friend. As well as writing goals telling, telling someone also further increases your chances of achieving your goal. Really visualise what it would be like to achieve that goal. How would you feel? What you think? Set a date or timeframe. This isn’t strict but will give you guidance and something to work towards. Be flexible and open to changing this as you need. GOAL-ATTAINMENT Start big and work backwards. Once you have your big or long-term goal, break down the steps you will need to do in order to get there. Take ONE small step at a time. When you are working towards your goal on a given day, ask yourself What is something I can do today that will bring me one-step closer to my goal? Give yourself space to rest, play and re-energise during this process. Achieving ones goal is not linear and so enjoying the process, not resenting it, is important. Reward yourself one your wins along the way. Treat yourself when you have gotten closer and find ways to celebrate along the way ~ as the saying goes, it’s not the destination, it’s the journey Artwork by @alexisariana_prints
21.01.2022 What does YOUR career pathway look like? This is the big question we will talking about and exploring during tomorrow nights virtual networking event, The Meeting Place (tickets still available via link in our bio ). This is a question that runs at the core of Meet Her as everyone’s career pathways are unique as well as personal to ones passions, skills & interests. It is also one that can change overtime and even overnight. There is no ‘one’ career pathway to ANY career. A...lthough tradition dictates more conventional routes to apparently career success, now more than ever it’s clear that careers look different and the journey to them is even more diverse than ever before. With the greater appreciation for transactional skills and normalisation of career change, people are ending up on career pathways they never imagined. Ask young me, Athena at 16, her career pathway I would have said I wanted to be a Psychologist, to do this I’ll complete a bachelors degree, go straight into honours & then masters. Possibly try for a PhD before I was 30... flash forward to 5 years later I realised that was no longer where my ambition lay and to be honest, I wasn’t sure what my ‘dream job’ was. What I did know was I was passionate about both MyGapYear Travel, that I had been co-running, AND Meet Her my new own business baby. So? what did I do? Took one step at time and did what felt right, going towards growing my businesses. Yes, it’s meant a real hustle which continues today but I wouldn’t change my experiences thus far & damn am I ready for the pathway ahead!
19.01.2022 Setting yourself up for weekly wins (photo via @onherdesk_) It can be hard to get the week going, especially in regards to productivity. So here are a few tricks ahead of Monday that you can implement this week to help set yourself up for some weekly wins! Small steps: To start taking steps closer to getting to your bigger long-term goals, create smaller steps along the way & ones that are achievable as soon as THIS week. This will help you keep moving forward by settin...g achievable targets and a chance to celebrate the little wins along the way to your big goal Tell a friend: If you’re struggling with self-accountability that is OKAY, so ask a friend for help. Whether it’s at work, uni or your own business, reach out to a colleague, peer or fellow business owner, tell them what you want to tick off this week & ask if they can check-in as well as motivate you along the way! Re-assess: A lot can change in the short few days and may throw your plans for the week a little out of whack - this could be things popping up to your energy levels telling you to rest. So take time think and re-assess your plans accordingly every day to keep you in track to achieving your goals for that week. What other strategies do you use to set yourself up for weekly wins?
18.01.2022 ITS THE COMPANY WE KEEP (illustration by @emmaholland.illustration) It is true that there is something so bliss & joyous about good company, good food and a good time. This end of year season is the perfect time to be reflecting on the company we keep as we enter the festive season and the start of a new year. We wanted to pose a few questions for you to get you thinking of the company you keep... Who has brought you joy this year?... Who has supported you or provided you with inspiration? Who have you enjoyed going on walks with or having zoom calls with? Who is someone that has pushed you & helped you creep out of your comfort zone? Did you think of someone when reading those questions? Then this is the great company you keep! Send that person or people a little more to say thanks & a very Merry Christmas. We know we are grateful for the company kept within Her Community and cannot wait to share a final virtual event for 2020 our End of Year Celebration More details coming soon. So take time appreciate the company you keep
17.01.2022 It has been a challenging year for everyone and in a year when we expected to dial up the pace to make up for last year, many found ourselves slowing down. Because the truth is, sometimes you need to take a step back to take a giant leap forward. The biggest learning for this year is definitely that I can do anything I set my mind to, but I can’t do everything I set my mind to, especially not all at once. It’s important to constantly re-assess our priorities, where we are and the best way to get to where we want to be. Having taken that time, I am now ready to dial it UP for Meet Her! Here not just for motivation and inspiration, but with implementable skills and useful resources. #ipreview via @preview.app
17.01.2022 Research has shown that women in high ranking positions have a strong network of women surrounding them! So to give yourself a head start on your journey to success one thing we can do is surround ourselves with supportive and trusting women, for not only the benefits to your career but social connectedness also has personal benefits to your physical & mental health too. The positive benefits of social connectedness has even been found in virtual connections too! So altho...ugh the excitement (and nervousness) of going to an event is undeniable we are taking full advantage of the tech & resources we do have available to launch our quarterly Virtual Networking Event, THE MEETING PLACE, to help womxn connect, learn & share. Our first event will be Wed, September 30th 7PM-9PM LIVE on ZOOM With Guest speaker Katie McCarthy (@katiemmccarthyy) Oral Health Therapist and Founder of Scrunchiko (@scrunchiko) who will talk about ‘Designing YOUR Career Pathway’ Tickets can be purchased from the link in our bio or via our website through the ‘Network’ tab Photo via @the_corporate_life
16.01.2022 FOCUS ON WHAT IS IN YOUR CONTROL It is easy to find ourselves fixated or ruminating about things in our lives we have no control over. Relinquishing this control can be equally liberating as it is nerve-wracking however re-channeling this energy is things that ARE in our control is an effective way to shift your mindset and your actions. This can be applied to both our personal and professional lives. Sometimes the two bleed together and other times parts of one area of our... life takes up our thoughts & impacts our ability to be focused in other areas of our life. Making a change, addressing an issue or taking action in any form is a great way to recapture the control in your life with a focus on what IS in your control and what is achievable. This value-based affirmation card is 1 of 17 in our More Than Affirmations Card pack, with this card being specially written by my collaborator and partner Laura (founder of @mindmattersco). This card has brought me calm in my chaotic mind, reminding me where to attend my energy and where to let go. What is something within your control that you want to focus on?
15.01.2022 AND WE ARE FINALLY HOSTING OUR FIRST IN-PERSON EVENT OF 2020! (Image by @shelovestoillustrate) Celebrating this Sunday having announced we are going full steam ahead with our Mentor Networking Event in Sydney on November 15th! We have confirmed all our guests and are officially full. We are grateful for our guests to this event being so patient & understanding during this preparation time. The countdown is on now ~ 21 days!
14.01.2022 We are determined to do what we can to lift the women around us up. The success of one woman is the success of us all and creating a community with these at the forefront of community values is key for all womxn oriented or female empowerment geared organisations, platforms and businesses. We are constantly smiling at the incredibly supportive community we are building here at Meet Her. Every time we see a collaboration, a sweet message or simply our ladies connecting and h...anging out ~ we cannot help ourselves smiling like an idiot. Being the connection piece between ambitious and motivated young women is a privilege, and to be trusted to help them along their career journeys is an honour. Let’s remember to keep lifting each other up. In doing so we will reach heights we may have never thought possible and achieve successes beyond all of our wildest dreams ~ and isn’t better to celebrate together than on our own. illustration by the talented @giselle_dekel See more
14.01.2022 We are in full swing preparing for our upcoming Mentor Networking Event in Nov 15th ~ we are re-vamping our event to bring a classy fresh look to usher in some positive energy to what will be our first & only in-person Meet Her event. To say that we are excited is an understatement. Admittedly there are also nerves too. Due to covid we are having to adapt our events to ensure we are COVIDSafe, trialing a ZOOM dial in to be considerate to the safety precautions taken by some... of our guests and relocating our venue to the @platterupco’s incredible new store front in Sydney. We are hoping for a smooth sailing event but in event-fashion we know this unlikely... however we are ready to take on any of the challenges brought to us & ultimately buzzing about hosting this event! Can’t wait to some of you there
13.01.2022 We are still blown away by the kindness, support and generosity shown by our Mentors to our young women! Without Mentors who are keen and willing to volunteer their time to guide the next generation of women, our Mentor Networking Events would not be able to run. The power of Mentorship is great and simply having someone in your corner, your champion, who themselves gain nothing from your success is incredibly empowering along your career journey. How mentorship can benefit ...you: Mentors can be one of your greatest supporters throughout your career, cheering you on through promotions, challenges & new opportunities Mentors are often the best people to guide you during difficult times in your career or when you’re undergoing change Mentors will celebrate your success and wins, despite it often not linking their professional success but finding joy in seeing your hard work pay off Mentors can offer you advice from their own experiences and suggest the best possible next steps for you to take Are you interested in finding a mentor?

12.01.2022 We have found ourselves missing our events, meeting new ladies and learning about the amazing career journeys everyone is embarking on. There is a special energy that we have felt at our events that has left a bit of an empty void whilst we have not been able to run any face-to-face events this year. We had originally stopped most of our Virtual events (aside from Virtual Coffee) expecting that we could commence LIVE in-person events soon ~ but the world had other plans... ...SO we are adapting yet again to this ever-changing climate and launching a new regular virtual event which we are currently calling The Meeting Place! A quarterly virtual event where you can meet, connect and foster friendships with other ambitious and supportive young womxn whilst also taking away some new piece of knowledge or skill! And all in the comfort for your own home, which means no need to stress about what to wear or if you’re hair is working for you today and skipping the exhausting drive home after an event. How good does that sound? It’s the perfect way to grow your connections and to make new friends that can otherwise be a tricky thing to do as we enter our 20s and 30s. We know this may not bring about the same feel or replicate the physical energy we have experienced at in-person events but we have had so much success in our previous virtual events in helping our ladies connect with like-minded womxn AND foster a truly supportive community ~ SO who’s excited to for the announcement of our first virtual event where we can all connect, learn and share at The Meeting Place? 11.01.2022 H O W T O G E T M O T I V A T E D We have been getting a few messages recently about people struggling with motivation and we ourselves have felt this same struggle. So we thought why not shortlist a few tips & tricks for you to use if you’re feeling a little unmotivated: Positive Self-Talk: The way to speak to yourself truly impacts your mood and mental health, and therefore your motivation levels! So engaging in purposeful positive self-talk when you’re feeling low i...n motivation can help put a spring in your step. Mini Self-Efficacy Task: To boost your sense of capability (because we know you’re definitely capable just need you to see it too) set yourself up in a nice setting and piece of paper. Then answer the question: what is something you have achieved or accomplished? How did you feel? And LIST THEM ALL! Every little & big thing you have done, write that down and make this your go to list to remind you of all you have achieved. Set Some Goals: Take time to consider what your goals are, both short-term & long-term. Once you have these jot down, it can be pretty daunting to think about but use it as guidance, a tool to direct you and your energy. To make it motivating think of a single small step you can do that day to get you a step closer to your goal. One step forward is still one step forward! What are your tips to motivating yourself or some positive self-talk phrases you use?
11.01.2022 Y O U R M I N D M A T T E R S (via @mindmattersco) Your mind matters. It was important for us to have you read that again because it does. And even more importantly, you matter. With R U Ok day at our doors once again, asking R U Ok is admittedly the easier part. Being able to hold a safe space for those who you ask, having the right resources & services to share with them, and being ready to be vulnerable yourself in reflecting if you are to okay, are the challenges come... with today and this Mental Health Awareness month. To be a source of information, we have shared the practical tips provided to us by Meet Her community member and Senior Project Officer at Black Dog Institute Katarina (SWIPE POST ABOVE ) We also understand that opening up the question to just ‘r u ok?’ in our stories may not actually create a space where you can feel you can share as sometimes you are ‘okay’ but only ‘okay’ OR you are ‘okay’ but others things for you may not be. SO instead, we will open up discussion here and in our stories privately asking, what is not okay for you? ~ because even the small things matter too.
10.01.2022 Yesterday we hosted our first in-person event in over 13 months and we are glad to be back! The energy of our first (and unfortunately only) 2020 Mentor Networking Event was buzzing, with both young women and mentors alike leaving inspired by one another as well as by our guestspeaker Lara, founder of @bossinheels_. Being able to host our signature event reminded us why we started in the first place - the dream we had 2 years ago to empower young women through thoughtfully-curated boutique events and more specifically through purposeful & meaningful mentorship. From the get go the atmosphere was electric with laughs, experiences and wisdom being shared across the room. Although this is the only Mentor Networking Event for 2020 we cannot wait to host more in 2021.
09.01.2022 We are excited to announced our next Virtual Networking Event, The Meeting Place, with guest speakers Lexy Dobbin (@lexydobbin) & Kailei Ginman (@kaileiginman)on Wednesday night Nov 25th. This is a special event with joint speakers, emphasising our topic of The First [woman] but NOT the Last as Lexy & Kailei share their experiences of paving the way for future women in work and the importance of proactive, purposeful support for fellow ladies This event allows young ambitious womxn and professional ladies to come together, connect & share with one another virtually. Our last event was a huge success with ladies taking away golden nuggets of wisdom & networking with fellow ladies from across Australia. The event will be hosted LIVE via ZOOM on Wed Nov 25th 7PM-9PM AEDT and you can purchase your tickets via the link in our bio!
09.01.2022 M E A N I N G F U L C O N N E C T I O N S Whilst we haven’t been able to connect young women with mentors during the pandemic due to concerns around the safety of our ladies as well as making the decision that our Mentor Networking Events cannot be hosted virtually due to being thoughtfully-curated as an in-person we have been doing our best to connect young womxn with other ambitions young womxn, supporting them to grow their networks and form meaningful connections that th...ey can carry-on through their career journeys. We have been overwhelmed with the fairly regularly sharing from ladies in our community about being connected and forming friendships with other Meet Her ladies This pair pictured is yet another Meet Her success story in being a part of a mission that sees other womxn support & empower young womxn! Krystal and Steph meet through our Virtual Coffees where Steph offered to photograph products for free to build her portfolio as a part of @stephdarleymedia. Krystal has worked tirelessly to release her very own reusable, eco-consciously created Daily Planner (via @krystell.co) that is backed by research and utilises positive psychology methods to help keep you motivated and on task to achieving your daily goals. Krystal and Steph have collaborated for Steph to grow her portfolio, while Krystal gets some fresh shots of her Dailey Planners (THAT SOLD OUT IN 48 HOURS!). We women make up 50% of society, so we don’t need to wait for change to happen we can incite change. Starting to create generational shift where womxn realise that together we can all succeed, we not competitive but each other champions will see the coming generations be more empowered, supported and confident in the strides they take towards their aspirations. 02.01.2022 And the countdown is on! 10 days until our Mentor Networking Event in Sydney ~ what will be our first and only in-person event of 2020. We are super excited about this one, to be able to welcome guests who have been patiently waiting most of 2020 to attend this Mentor Networking Event. These are our signature events where we connect young women with professional ladies that have in-industry experience in purposeful, meaningful Mentorship at our carefully curated event. Although this is our only in-person of 2020 we are beginning plans for our 2021 events and are excited to be launching our new Networking Masterclass very soon! So keep your eye peeled for more updates.
02.01.2022 TAKE TIME TO FILL YOUR CUP (illustration by @giselle_dekel) One of the most important lessons in life is to take time to fill your cup. The thing is you can’t always fill your cup on your own - really, this needs to be done by others. So how do you get your cup filled and how do you fill other peoples cups? How to fill your own cup:... Surround yourself with people who boost your up Accept compliments Be open when you need support & encouragement How to fill others peoples cups: Let them know what they mean to you Share compliments and positive feedback Surprise gifts and tokens of appreciation Spend quality time How will you help fill someone’s cup today?

02.01.2022 In our wider Meet Her community we have built connections with other female founders and small-biz owners, whose support of Meet Her has meant the world to us. A prime example of this is the fostering of stronger ties with old high-school friend Bronte, who is now the proud Co-Founder of Stellar Experiences (@stellar.experiences). Bronte has proudly worn our Meet Her on countless of occasions when you’d ordinarily find someone wearing their own branded merch. This gesture a...lthough may seem small to most, means the world to us.
