20.01.2022 This was written by a friend when she was 12. What a lovely way to look at the world. You matter. You are important, regardless of what colour your skin is
19.01.2022 If you want to create your best life, it doesnt come down to date. It comes down to hard work!
19.01.2022 Last week I had the opportunity to sit down with Tiffanee Cook to chat about my life, going through adversity and being a Psychologist. It was interesting to be sitting in the other chair this time. Im usually quite private about this in my professional life but I thought it was time to share, as my journey is what makes me the Psychologist I am today
19.01.2022 14 days of 0 cases here in Melbourne! Is it just me or does anyone else feel like a donut?!
19.01.2022 If you are battling with Covid (or with your partner) you need to read this. Siobhan writes for Kid Spot and gives such a fresh and light hearted take on her experiences. It was a pleasure to offer some solutions and advice.
18.01.2022 Last night, it was announced that everyone can now access 20 Medicare subsidised sessions per year. Until now, they only subsidised 10 which wasn’t enough for a lot of people needing help. With the state of the world at the moment, it’s so nice to see that mental health is so highly valued by our Government
17.01.2022 The world needs more kindness like this...
17.01.2022 Never has it been more important than to ask RU OK? this year. Here in Melbourne, life has been pretty tough lately. Lots of us are feeling isolated and lonely. Its OK not to be OK. Please check on your friends, family and neighbours and if you are not OK, dont be afraid to say that. Help is always available ... https://www.ruok.org.au/join-r-u-ok-day Beyond Blue 1300224636 Kids Helpline Official 1800551800 Lifeline 131114 Suicide Call Back Service 1300659467

16.01.2022 Something to reflect upon...
15.01.2022 This is such a good message about perspective and respecting what others are going through, as it may be quite different to what you are experiencing
13.01.2022 This is brilliant to keep the kids busy and using their creative skills
13.01.2022 For everyone that has had a rough week and made it through. Things will get better
12.01.2022 Feeling for our Queenslander friends with their 3 day lockdown. All of us in Melbourne know exactly how you feel and hope you can get on top of it soon!

11.01.2022 Here in Melbourne, it has become mandatory to wear masks when you leave your home. This has been a challenge for many. Wearing a mask can be hard to get used to. Some arent very breathable, they make your nose run and it can be hard to get in a good breath! My tips for getting used to mask wearing are: try a few different kinds (disposable, fabric) and see what you feel the most comfortable with; practice wearing one inside your home first, where you feel the most comfo...rtable; wearing a mask can make you feel claustrophobic. Focus on your breath, slowing it down and making your inhale the same count as your exhale (eg. 3 counts in, 3 counts out); try to do your intense exercise at home so you dont need to wear your mask. Increasing your heart rate and rate of breathing can make wearing a mask harder; avoid handling your mask and if you do, sanitise your hands afterwards; if your mask is single use, dispose of it after wearing it; keep a few handy in your car, bag etc so you dont get caught without one; when passing someone, still smile (they will see it in your eyes) or say hello - its still important that we acknowledge each other; be kind - there are people with medical exemptions to wearing a mask. They may not be flouting the rules but have a serious condition - we need to be mindful of them. See more
10.01.2022 A sweet gesture goes a long way
10.01.2022 Don’t settle Don’t finish crappy books Leave the restaurant if you don’t care for the menu... Don’t waste 2 hours on a movie you don’t want to see Stop wearing clothes that hurt Take off the shoes that pinch Don’t hang around to be insulted Never believe you deserved it Say yes to the things that spark your heart Say no to the stuff that eats your joy Don’t let a day pass without a laugh Spend time with those that fill you up Never let anyone steal your peace Don’t waste too much time worrying Or being afraid Time passing too fast is the only thing you need to fear today You don’t look like the settling kind Keep not settling. 09.01.2022 28 days of 0 cases!! Nobody could understand just how hard it was to be locked down so hard for so long, unless you were living here. We had record numbers day after day.... There was so much anxiety and anger. So much isolation and loneliness. I’m so proud of each and every one of us who have pulled together to bring us to 0!
09.01.2022 Today Im celebrating 6 years since starting my own practice. I built my practice from nothing to now sustaining me full time. I would never have dreamt that I would be working from home 6 years later but thats how we respond to practicing in a pandemic. Its nice to have my little work colleagues on hand to help out too.
08.01.2022 Wishing everyone a Happy Easter. Enjoy the time for relaxation (and a little chocolate!)
07.01.2022 Now is a time for reflection. The whole world has slowed down and this gives you the opportunity to step back and decide what is important and what isnt. What is worth spending time on and what you value. It will help you to reflect who has a positive impact on your life and who you would like to spend more time with. ... So consider this wisely so that you can plan for what you would like to do when all this is over.
07.01.2022 Is there such a thing as toxic positivity? The short answer is yes. We would all like to feel positive all of the time but the fact is, that is impossible!... We all go through difficult situations and experience a vast array of emotions. Toxic positivity is denying these emotions or squashing them in the pursuit of trying to feel positive all the time. This can also mean that we lose empathy or shame others by negating their experiences or emotions. We need to validate all emotions and in doing so, we will be supportive to others and move into problem solving that will help to address the cause, rather than just trying to be positive all the time or using maladaptive coping strategies.
06.01.2022 This is such a beautiful sentiment Balloons are like happiness. No one will find it looking for theirs only. Instead if everyone cares about each others they will find theirs as quickly as possible.
05.01.2022 This is worth a watch
05.01.2022 For all of you that are now forced to work from home, here are some tips to help you navigate this new 'normal.' - Make sure that you have a dedicated work space and shut the door on this space (where possible) to seperate work from home life. - Continue to have the same lunch/tea breaks and make sure you close off communications for this time to allow yourself to take a proper break. - Get outside every few hours to get some fresh air.... - Make sure your work station is properly set up to avoid any back/neck/shoulder strain. One great tip I heard today, was using the ironing board as a standing work station. - Stay connected! Talk to friends, family and co-workers by phone and video mediums to ensure you have a sense of inclusion and community when you are forced to isolate. Read below for some mores useful tips. Take care and stay safe :)
04.01.2022 If you are looking for something to keep your kids busy for a while, why not paint your driveway with chalk? They can get out in the fresh air whilst maintaining social distancing
04.01.2022 I always encourage everyone to live by their values. We can do this even when we are scared
