24.01.2022 As a teenager I would religiously buy 'Girlfriend', 'Dolly' and 'Cosmo' magazines. At the time I didn't think it was doing any harm, but I can see now that it contributed to years and years of feeling 'not good enough' and always wanting to look different to the body and features I was born with. Magazines certainly aren't 100% to blame here, in-store and online advertising, tv and social media all play a part. As can comments from peers and family. I'm now aware of the mist...akes I've made, the inner voice speaking horribly to myself, the constant looking for flaws, and never being happy. In reality, a lot of us speak much worse to ourselves than we would ever dream of speaking to someone else. As I near my 40th birthday I can see how important it is that we build ourselves up, not tear ourselves down - something most women do every time they look in a mirror. One of the things I'll be focusing on in 2017 is loving myself more, and teaching my daughter that it's important she does the same. We are all beautiful. In different ways. There's no one 'perfect body'. It doesn't exist. We are all perfect in our own way. My focus will be on NOURISHING myself every day by: - Eating nourishing foods that fuel my cells in the best possible way - Moving my body in ways that make me feel good, not to punish myself - Taking time out for myself - Meditation - Making sure I get enough sleep - Doing things I love - Reducing stress - Catching my 'mean girl' out and replacing her with loving thoughts - Being happy with every inch of who I am

16.01.2022 It's time we ate to be Healthy, not to be Skinny. Here Georgia Harding from Well Nourished writes about Metabolically Obese Normal Weight (MONW) - yes, it is a thing. Just because a person is 'skinny' doesn't mean they are healthy. ... I eat for health and I often turn down 'treats' offered to me such as cakes and biscuits because I value my health. I want to fuel my body with nutritious food, not rubbish. I've lost count of the number of times someone has said to me 'but you can afford to eat it you're skinny, go on, treat yourself'. For me it's not about being skinny, it's all about health. People often ask me how I do it. How do I have such strong willpower to refuse those treats. Honestly? when you make the mindset shift from thinking 'skinny' to thinking 'healthy' willpower doesn't even come into it. You just want to do what's right for your body and that includes eating nutritious food. Having said that, I'm the first to admit that occasionally I will have something that's not so good for me... like an ice-cream with the family, or a tim tam, or a piece of cake to celebrate someone's birthday. But it's very occasional. and there's no shame or guilt, or feeling 'fat'. It's important to enjoy those moments too. 13.01.2022 Happy Birthday to Me!! Today I entered the last year of my 30's and I feel fitter & healthier than ever before in my life! The last 5 years I've put a lot of emphasis on nourishing my mind, my body & my soul in every way. I have way more energy than my younger self and I get goosebumps at just how much I have to be grateful for. ... Taking time out to get organised & pre-plan is top of my list to ensure I fit it all in without running on empty. Yes, anyone that knows me knows that I'm a bit OCD when it comes to lists! Or run the risk of burnout (I've been feeling a little that way lately), disease, or letting life pass you by without really living in the moment. So today, just for a while, that's what I'm doing. Visit Japan I check in a couple of times a year to delete anything I no longer find resonates with my soul, or to add anything new that interests me.
