19.01.2022 Ive been working on my brand refresh. Ive chosen a serif typeface to complement the organic hand-drawn nature of my artwork. The font brings them into a more sophisticated, contemporary look & feel. Inspired by some of my favorite brands such as @aesopskincare and @meccacosmetica Ive alluded to my ability to design beautiful packaging and surface graphics. 10.01.2022 Feel the fear and do it anyway: Really enjoyed my weekend down at the @andcoretreat where despite feeling super nervous managed to run 2 illustration classes for the first time. 09.01.2022 I've been enamored with mixing colours since a very young age. I have memories of kindergarten and learning that if you mix red + blue together you get purple and if you mix blue + yellow you get green and just having my mind blown when I realized how many new colours I could make. Magic! To this day, I still find so much satisfaction in the experimentation of just a little bit of this and a little bit of that to get just the right hue. Paint is my happy place.

09.01.2022 These past few weeks have been stressful and tiring. My husband and I have been moving house and we did most of it ourselves, anyone who has ever hauled stuff up and down long staircases knows what Im talking about. On the positive side, Ive got a new workspace set up in our home office which feels light and quiet. Now I just need to get my energy levels back to normal so I can get back into art-making.

09.01.2022 In order to make more art this year, Ive developed a morning rhythm (I prefer to call it that as routine sounds too rigid). Before I start my graphic design computer work for the day, Ive carved out a 30min painting/drawing session. This time is sacred. Inspired by my chats with @rachelledustingart I have made my practice more spiritual. I light a scented candle, I turn off my phone & email, I play some hare-Krishna music and just completely allow myself to enjoy the moment and let the creativity flow. Ive done this all week and now little by little Im finishing a painting Ive been wanting to finish. #perthartist #perthmurals #livingcreatively #morningritual

05.01.2022 Tracing time! Once I'm happy with my sketches, I get to work transferring these to a sheet of good quality watercolour paper that can handle my gouache. I used to try and do this on a window in my house. It was not very comfortable! Nowadays I use a small A3 size portable light table. Actually, it is a cricut brand and is meant to be for using those tools that lift up vinyl, but I love this device for my tracing work because the adjustable light settings o...n it makes it perfect for adjusting to different opacities. When I sketch I'm super heavy handed and use quite a dark grade pencil around 4B. When I'm tracing however, I use a lighter grade pencil (something around a 5 or 6H) to keep the lines as feint as possible so that when I start the actual painting it won't show through any semi-opaque colour. 01.01.2022 Feeling really happy with this little painting nook Ive set up for myself. I found this easel in an almost brand new condition @turnstylecollectables when I was grabbing a coffee recently and couldnt resist! Ive now got my supplies on an old table my great grandfather built so they are in easy reach. Feels a lot more inviting which Im hoping will lead to less procrastination!
