22.01.2022 NICOLE + EDWARD Meet Nicole and Edward. My gorgeous lockdown lovers. My journey to get to know Nicole and Edward really epitomized those 2020 vibes.... We met via zoom, back when zoom was a new thing. It didn't matter that their engagement party had to be cancelled due to the first round of COVID-19 restrictions, we were all in for a Halloween wedding. Until gathering restrictions meant that we had to push this love party back to Feb 2021. Over many socially distanced cups of tea, and e-mails flying back and forth, over months of lockdown we got to know each other. Their resilience, optimism and reports of their pocket adventures around their local area, were a bright spot for me during the longest lockdown ever. And so, on 12th February 2021, another lockdown eve in Melbourne, we made them married at the Methven Park in Brunswick East. It. Was. Perfect. I know a lot of you have had a similar journey to Edward and Nicole. Know that I'll be with you, every step of the way. And when you finally say 'I do', I'll be as excited as you! 21.01.2022 THE SWEETEST LITTLE ELOPEMENT YOU EVER DID SEE I've got a secret. I'm so sorry. I have been holding out on you guys. My very first wedding back following lockdown was to marry these absolute stunners, Clarice and Nathan @lakehousedaylesford.... Clarice and Nathan had planned a much bigger wedding celebration, up on the boarder, at a place very near and dear to their hearts. But earlier in the year, COVID crashed in, and these plans, like so many others, were postponed. But you know what? They'd been together forever, loved each other beyond measure, and they simply couldn't wait until next year to get hitched. So with just their two sets of parents, they frocked up and headed to the glorious Lake House in Daylesford to celebrate their love. This is by far the most intimate, beautiful elopement that I have ever had the privilege of participating in. There was sun kissed lake views, gently rustling birch, awesome wine and some of the best food the region has to offer. But more than anything, the golden glow of love that surrounded Clarice and Nathan and the absolute joy from their parents at seeing their family grow, was something to behold. 20.01.2022 I got married in 2012 and the celebrant we hired.. well.. he just didn't feel like us. I'd seen him at a friend's wedding, and had thought he had a nice voice. Naively, I thought that that was all you ought to expect from a celebrant. There was no option to personalise your ceremony. No story told. Lots of words about what marriage meant to him, rather than what marriage meant to us.... I am now so blessed to be able to have the very best seat in the house when my beautiful couples say 'I Do'. 08.01.2022 PLANNING PLANNING PLANNING This second bout of iso has me doing alot of thinking. Thinking about what weddings will be looking like in the next few months, and even years.... We probably won't be having the massive parties that we did a year ago. Our celebrations will be smaller. More intimate. More considered. More intentional. 07.01.2022 SPRING HAS SPRUNG Wayyyyyy back at the end of March, Melbourne was told 'Winter is Coming'. We hunkered on down with our sourdough, tracksuit pants and a case of wine and we waited.... I remember at the time that there was talk that we could be in lockdown for 6 months. And so I set to work in the garden.I buried treasure. I planted more bulbs than you can count and nurtured new cuttings into life. If I was going to be isolated for the longest winter of our discontent, I was going to make damn sure that I had a gorgeous garden to welcome me back into the world come September. And here we are. 2 weeks out from the end of stage 4 restrictions and my gorgeous garden has burst into life. There are freeaias, roses, musari, lavender, lemon tree buds, hydrangeas, lavender, wallflower, daffodils, purple stock, iris and lilies. Curious bees and adventurous butterflies. And oh how it warms my heart.
