01.01.2022 There’s a vast difference between eating what your body needs to perform, and convincing yourself your intake is adequate purely by assessing training progressi...on. If your intake is <1500kcal and you’re experiencing amenorrhea, IBS, difficulty sleeping or extended periods of fatigue yet you can still train hard; are you REALLY getting what you NEED or are you just mentally pushing yourself to do so? If you’re ignoring a down-regulation in metabolic activity and masking it as ‘what you need’ out of fear of consuming what you KNOW is an adequate caloric intake; then you’re actually hindering your performance. Imagine what could happen if you applied that mindset towards an adequate intake that was REALLY what you needed? Is that possible? Can you do it? Or do you NEED to be displaying the symptoms associated with reduced energy availability in order to drive you? If that’s the case, then expect to become content with forever remaining in a severe deficit, and allowing your body to negatively adapt to a level so low where one day; progression becomes regression.
