25.01.2022 On your bike people! I challenge anyone who can ride a bike up Cascade street in Paddo on pure leg power to post a video boast of you doing it. I cheat and ride an e-bike but, hey, I’m not a sweaty mess when I get to the top! https://www.theguardian.com//why-not-encourage-cycling-dur
24.01.2022 From tomorrow Woollahra Council beaches are open for swim and go. No sunbaking, picnics or hanging around to chat to friends but a great opportunity to get in a swim, kayak or SUP before the cold weather really sets in.
24.01.2022 If you know anyone in the Eastern suburbs who is elderly and would like some company, they might benefit from the Homeshare service being run by the Holdsworth Community Centre. Holdsworth vet and match like-minded people and provide continued support so that elderly people get some companionship and young people get somewhere affordable to live. Win win. Click here for more details: https://holdsworth.org.au/holdsworth-homeshare-has-launched/
24.01.2022 Thanks to BIKEast for a fun ride around Paddington on the new Moore Park Road pop-up bike path. Congrats to City of Sydney for building it and creating a great network that can now take cyclists safely all the way from Centennial Park to Surrey Hills.
22.01.2022 The flag is now up! Happy Mardis Gras 2020!
21.01.2022 Great to see the Wenty promoting the Paddo Greenway. If you like the idea of walking/riding/scooting your way from Woollahra to Darlinghurst while only crossing one road - please show your support by writing to [email protected] https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au//28cb3a5894ac8f5b47369bb

18.01.2022 20 new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in NSW between 8pm on 18 July and 8pm on 19 July. As cases resulting from community transmission continue to be rep...orted, NSW Health is calling on people across the state to redouble their efforts to stop the virus spreading. Everyone needs to be aware that there has been transmission in venues such as hotels and restaurants, gyms and social gatherings and therefore they should exercise particular caution in those situations. While it is not a legal requirement, it would be preferable and safer for the time being to avoid all non-essential travel, and not host or attend gatherings of more than 10 people at home (not withstanding that the legal limit is 20 people). Everyone should observe social distancing and hygiene measures. We strongly recommend wearing a face mask in situations where social distancing is not possible. It is critical that anyone feeling unwell even with the mildest of symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat seeks testing and self-isolates until they get the result. Stay at home, and do not go to work or catch public transport until you are cleared of COVID-19. All South Western Sydney clinics are open and will continue to operate while there is a need. A full list of COVID-19 testing clinics is available below, and people can visit their GP: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectio//Pages/clinics.aspx There were 21,167 tests carried out in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 25,917 tests in the previous 24 hours. There are 96 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health. Two are in intensive care, and one of these requires a ventilator. In NSW, 2,799 people are known to have recovered from COVID-19. The 20 new cases include: Three people who were contacts of cases linked to the Crossroads Hotel cluster Eight people associated with the Thai Rock Restaurant in Stockland Mall Wetherill Park, including four who attended the restaurant and four close contacts Four people associated with the Bateman’s Bay Soldiers Club, including two diners, one staff member and a contact of the previously reported cases Four overseas travellers in hotel quarantine One person who was infected while in Victoria who entered NSW before the border restrictions were in place. A total of eight cases are now linked to the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club. NSW Health is directing anyone who was at the Soldiers Club on Monday 13 July, Wednesday 15 July, Thursday 16 July or Friday 17 July to immediately be tested for COVID-19 and self-isolate for 14 days, regardless of symptoms. The total number of cases associated with the Crossroads Hotel cluster is 48. This includes 14 who attended the hotel on 3 July, one who attended on 5 July. One case reported yesterday was mistakenly linked to the hotel. There are now 16 cases associated with the Thai Rock restaurant. As case investigations continue, we have found a number of venues have been attended by cases. Information on all venues is available here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates. People who work in high-risk settings such as healthcare facilities or aged care homes must not to attend work if they have symptoms and must get tested immediately. People should also not visit relatives in these settings if they have even the mildest of symptoms or have recently returned from Victoria or attended affected venues. It is essential people follow directions they receive about home isolation and quarantine and maintain COVID-safe practices of physical distancing of 1.5 metres, cough or sneeze into their elbow, and regularly wash their hands.
17.01.2022 Are you wanting to help others in need during this time of covid-19? Woollahra Council has a list of services helping the elderly and isolated and these services desperately need more volunteers. From calling the elderly to cooking meals, there are lots of opportunities to help out. https://www.woollahra.nsw.gov.au/co/employment/volunteering
15.01.2022 For those currently renting and wondering how you are going to keep a roof over your head, the government has announced a ban on evictions for 6 months.
14.01.2022 The new rules announced last night mean we have to stay home unless exercising, grocery shopping or performing essential work. The big test is sticking to the rules while staying sane. There is only so much TV you can watch (sorry Brooklyn Nine Nine!). I’m currently doing nightly home dance festivals with favourite songs from my childhood - last night was hip hop legends (Run DMC - it’s tricky, tricky, tricky, tricky!!!). Stay safe everyone!... https://preview.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/public-health-orders
13.01.2022 Who is up for a bushwalk on Sunday 3 March from Trumper Park to Cooper Park with people who know all the names of the trees and can point out the beehives, birds and other interesting things we normally miss?
11.01.2022 Sign up for the Woollahra e-newsletter and receive a free native plant. The newsletter is a great way to find out about upcoming events and services like our new e-waste pickup service - you can book in a personal e-waste pick up from your house.
09.01.2022 Woollahra Council is taking steps to support our local businesses during this crisis and calling on landlords to do their bit too by providing their tenants with rent relief...
09.01.2022 It's official - I'm a Greens Councillor on Woollahra Council!! Thank you to all my friends, family, Greens members and voters for getting me there. I can't wait to get started with fellow Greens Councillor Matthew Robertson on great new playgrounds, cycle paths, solar energy and finding a great site for a new High School!
07.01.2022 Have you heard of the Paddo Greenway? It would enable residents to walk from the Lord Dudley Hotel, Woollahra to Nield Ave, Darlo through beautiful parkland and only cross one street. It would involve building a suspended walkway over the storm water drain across the White City site. We want to get this project locked in while the White City DA is being considered. If you like the idea of the Paddington Greenway, please write into Woollahra Council at [email protected] , quote DA 477/2019 and show your support for the Greenway.
06.01.2022 Luckily the Mayor of Woollahra has seen the light and offered to kill off the idea of parking on Steyne Park. Now we just need an official decision that no park (eg Lough park) will be used. Stay tuned - the Council meeting is this Monday where I hope we can kill off this idea of parking on parkland once and for all.
05.01.2022 A safe, separated bike path from the Rose Bay Ferry terminal to Bondi Beach that kids and families can use. If you like this idea, write into the Wentworth Courier to express your support!
05.01.2022 Great outcome from Monday night.
01.01.2022 Even the elbow tap is now out with the new safe distance rules - any ideas for a new way to greet one another? I hear the namaste hands together move is a popular replacement...
