22.01.2022 SASHIKO MENDING...the ancient Japanese form of repair Last night I took part in an online workshop hosted by @toast with @molly.a.martin running the class and made this little sample of #sashiko #mending I need some practice but it was lovely to learn a new mindful skill and know another way to give my wardrobe a longer lifespan. I have always loved the concept of #wabisabi which is about embracing the imperfect You can either make your repair a feature like I have here or match colours for an invisible finish. 20.01.2022 Inspired by Andrew Palmer’s ‘Cha Cha for Charity’ 24 hours dance challenge, I have created this product page to raise money in line with the event. Patches are $15 including postage and $7.50 from every patch will be donated to the event. From there, the donation is split 50/50 between ‘Speak Up Stay Chatty’ and ‘The Examiner Winter Relief Appeal’. The money raised will go directly to these charities to help the Tasmanian community recover from the impacts of COVID-19. I have been wanting to create this collection for a long time and after seeing the most beautiful and powerful musical, Dear Evan Hansen, on Broadway recently, I knew the time was now! These B.Random patches are $15 including postage and $5 from every patch, will be donated to ‘R U OK?’, a charity supporting mental illness who believe that a conversation can change a life. It is about inspiring and e...mpowering everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them. You don’t need to be an expert to reach out, just a good friend or a great listener. This collection is inspired by a dear friend of mine, Brandon, whom we lost in 2017. He was such a genuine soul with an abundance of creativity and sadly, gone too soon. He wanted his label to be called B.Random and his mother has supported me to create this line in his honour and memory. MeganRose is a zero-waste company, meaning that any fabric leftover from a product is re-purposed into a new design and saves scraps from going into landfill. 15.01.2022 With my Christmas orders all done, it was time for me to wrap the presents for my family and what better way than a zero waste approach using the Japanese art of Furoshiki Did you know that the equivalent of 108 million rolls of wrapping paper are thrown out each festive season in Britain alone and they're rarely recycled! Using fabric is a great alternative to paper as it can be reused endless amounts of times and saves both the paper rubbish and fabric scraps from going into landfill. To make, I searched the cupboards for fabrics, cut them into squares and edged them.
