25.01.2022 A lot of people have asked me what I do... I run a consulting firm called People Medical Consulting and have an amazing team- Samantha, Bridgeen & Morgan. We specialise in helping Medical Practitioners! We find jobs for Doctors...and Doctors for Medical Practices. We also know what we're doing when it comes to all the paperwork. Each week, I'm going to pop up a post explaining about something my team and I do! A Journey Map is something you can follow to make sure if you're offered a job...it ticks all your restrictions. No more sitting a PESCI then realizing the clinic isn't eligible! Hooray!
25.01.2022 I'm so lucky to have grown up with two strong, positive role models- my mum and dad. When I was little, dad was my rock. He is a spiritual man and would always have wise words to get me through whatever drama I was going through (imagine me being a dramatic teenager ). While there is only one day to say thank you to each of my parents, I thank God every single day for giving me two such amazing people to guide me. Happy Father's Day daddy Happy Father's Day to all the dads, and granddads and 'just like' dads and mums who are dads- enjoy your day
24.01.2022 I feel so incredibly blessed. I've received so much love and I spent my birthday with some of my favourite people and things (read: food). Thank you to everyone who sent wishes and who were a part of my day
23.01.2022 19AA & 19AB - What are they and do they apply to you? Here is a quick summary of them both! https://peoplemedical.com.au/a-quick-summary-of-19aa-and-1/
22.01.2022 All you need is love! Doo doo doo doo doo
22.01.2022 Alright - I'm catching up this week on the content we're writing at People Medical Consulting - It's been a crazy week implementing a new CRM which will mean we can help you far better than we're doing now! Now- to our ***Question of The Week*** which is...WHAT IS A PESCI EXEMPTION BASED ON? It is NOT based on how close the practices are to one another It IS based on the level of support available & the demographics of the practice area The DPA & MMM are also taken into... consideration You will need to apply for the level of supervision of your original PESCI. There are a number of other factors as well, as written in our blog. Really important to make sure you're all over this before you apply to AHPRA for your exemption :)
22.01.2022 Sending out a little love to everyone today! I was chatting to a few Doctors who are based in Melbourne, yesterday, and reached out to a few friends as well because it's really taking a toll- jokes about introverts staying inside aside- curfews, only being allowed 5klms from your home, it is a big difference from a country where we're so used to being free to come and go as we please. If you're struggling, please reach out <3
21.01.2022 Medical Deputising Service - Vacancy - Western Sydney, NSW I have a Medical Deputising Service that is looking for it;'s 'Anchor Doctor' - what this means is that you've got a little more responsibility because you'll be the first Doctor there! We need someone experienced in Australian General Practice- it meets 19AA & 19AB, which means a Non-VR with General AHPRA can apply.
21.01.2022 Katia, I am so happy to have had the opportunity to meet you and proud to be a part of your journey <3 I know you're going to make a fabulous General Practitioner, because you've got the most important bit down pat- you care! :)
21.01.2022 Morning Team! Guys, I cannot stress enough to sit down and plan out each aspect of your journey to getting registration BEFORE sitting a PESCI. There are FOUR stages and each stage has the ability to stop you from working there. STAGE 1: PESCI STAGE 2: AHPRA (Correct supervision arrangements, experience requirements) STAGE 3: VISA (Health Workforce Certificate) ... STAGE 4: Medicare (19AA / 19AB restrictions) You could end up paying $2100 for a PESCI, $1500 to AHPRA and then even get a visa but then be unable to get a provider number due to a lack of DPA or ability to get on a 3GA program. Please please please, my heart breaks every time I hear this happening. Do it for me!! <3
21.01.2022 I joined Nelia & her team at @australianmedicalreviewcentre in their webinar about AMC MCQ this morning! It was really fun to chat to everyone (from my parent's living room!). I think Nelia and I make a pretty solid team helping to build a pathway for IMGs wanting to get started in Australia @manelialee Thanks for inviting me to be a part of it
20.01.2022 Our Question of the Week this week is about Recency of Practice! We get a lot of questions about it :) Recency is 4 weeks within the last 12 months OR 12 weeks within the last 3 years The hours you work matter- if you're not working 'full time' then you'll need to work longer to meet the standard... Full Time is defined as 38 hours and working more hours than this doesn't do anything If you can't meet recency of practice, there are other things you can do, including providing a return to practice plan and being up to date on your CPD points :)
19.01.2022 There are two types of Limited AHPRA Registration * Limited Area of Need requires you to have 3 years 'comparable' experience. We would usually suggest you have RACGP assess your time before applying to be safe! Your practice will also require an Area of Need Certificate (this is different to DPA!) * Limited Post Grad Training & Supervised Practice does not have a minimum experience requirement, and will require you to have a Training Plan along with all the other documents.... Throw your questions at me!
19.01.2022 This Week's ***Question Of The Week*** is... Do I need to update my indemnity insurance if Im moving from a hospital role to general practice? Yes ... We wrote a blog on it and included a little more detail after our chat to the insurers to get more specifics but in a nutshell, the overall consensus was YES! Always check with your insurer before making any big changes
18.01.2022 Hi guys! We're enjoying Ekka Day today (although sadly with no Ekka)- do you know I've lived in Brisbane for 12 years and never been to Ekka? MY GOODNESS! I need to go :D Go away COVID!
18.01.2022 I'm prouder than I could ever put into words today. I have a dream to be able to help as many people as I possibly can. I feel honoured to be a part of so many of your journey's. I feel sad for those I cannot yet help and I'm working to find ways to help more. Thank you to all of the people who have come along for the last 6 years- each of you has contributed to where we are now <3
17.01.2022 This week's ***Question Of The Week*** . Whats the difference between getting my time assessed with RACGP or with AHPRA? . The AHPRA assessment uses minimal evidence and therefore is not as thorough. It will only be used in that one application. ... The RACGP assessment can be used to support your AHPRA application, is a comprehensive assessment and until 2022 will support your Practice Experience Pathway applications to RACGP to sit Fellowship. After 2022, it will be compulsory to join a training program. Hope this information is helpful!
16.01.2022 It's funny, I wrote this last Friday from a Speaker I was listening to and promptly ignored it! When you feel responsible for others, it can be hard to take responsibility for your own care as well but it's really important. If you don't, you'll wake up one day and think...I can't face today. Let's be honest, you might have those days anyway and be pushing through. Listen to your body, listen to your brain and your emotions. Don't ignore the warning signs! I'm sitting at home this morning, having taken a few extra hours to have some 'me time' after a week of 14 hour days and sleepless nights (we've implemented new CRM!) - please don't let it catch you by surprise. It's OK to take a break #burnout #takecareofyourself
15.01.2022 The After Hours Medical Deputising Service has changed up it's rules a little. Check out our update here!
14.01.2022 ***Question Of The Week*** Are there any exemptions for MDRAP's Location Requirement? MDRAP requires Doctors to work in a DPA, MMM 2 - 7 location If you've signed a contract prior to the location losing DPA, this will be considered in your application. ... No other exemptions are being considered at this stage. Let me know if you have any questions!
14.01.2022 I got to visit @thestoreofrequirement yesterday. I could have spent hours there but made do with just 1. We're closing the office Monday for a 'Business Planning' day to develop some new ways to help IMGs and thought we would theme it. Harry Potter day! So while we're sitting in our Hogwarts house colours, brainstorming how we can help you... What is your Hogwarts House (you can find out on @wizardingworld ) and what products/services can we offer to help you? . . . #internationalmedicalgraduate #doctor #makeadifference #harrypotter
14.01.2022 We get so many questions on FB & Insta and we try to answer all of them. We choose the really juicy questions to write a blog about. So this one is about 'My practice has lost its DPA status and I am restricted by 19AB, do I need to find a new practice?' No...unless you're restricted by 19AA AS WELL as 19AB. Then it depends on what program you're on! There are 'General Exemptions' to keep Doctors' working in locations that they've already started at. ... Hopefully the Dept of Health will apply the same logic to 19AA as well!
14.01.2022 It was a joy to meet Hein today. Dr Hein just came out of two weeks quarantine after lockdown in Melbourne so Greg and I thought we'd take him out to show him Brisbane! We took him out for a beer at the @southbank_beergarden (our local), had a go on the @wheelofbrisbane (I made it through without crying), and finally dinner at @taitaisouthbank Hein is about to move to Central QLD for his new GP job. Good luck Hein!!!
13.01.2022 This week's ***Question of The Week is***... . What should I include in a Covering Letter? . A covering letter will summarise why you're a good candidate for the role you're applying for- it doesn't answer selection criteria or provide a repeat of your CV. ... . It's good to follow a format when writing a covering letter, and make it specific for each job you're applying to . A few tips, when setting up a format: Make it look great- it looks professional to include the title and address of the Director/Hospital you're applying to Your first paragraph will identify the role you're applying for, why you chose to apply for it and a point about why you're qualified to do the job. This will be followed by your registration eligibility/level and your qualifications Next you'll summarise how the experience listed in your CV provides support to the role requirements, what you've learned from the experience you've had and how that applies to this role specifically. Always thank the reader in your final paragraph- you want to end it on a warm note!
13.01.2022 The ***Question Of The Week*** is...What Programs are pathways to Fellowship? . Whilst all 3GA programs will satisfy your 19AA requirements, only four of them are approved training programs supporting you on your way to Fellowship. These are... ACRRM Independent Pathway PEP... RVTS AGPT Remember! As of 2022, you MUST be on a program to be eligible to sit Fellowship. Morgan wrote a blog on it, bless her. Let me know if you need the link!
13.01.2022 Our team at PMC are doing our best to get you prepared for the changes coming in 2022. If you're not completing your Fellowship exams in 2021, then you'll be required to participate in one of the 4 programs to be eligible to complete your exams. You can read about it here and please ask as many questions as you need!
12.01.2022 Creative Careers in Medicine are running a CPD course talking about the ins and outs of Telemedicine. It's not too expensive, it's online and it has 40 RACGP CPD points. Having chatted to these guys just recently, I LOVE LOVE LOVE what they're doing! Check out their course (and them, actually, because they're cool). Let me know your feedback after the course!
12.01.2022 APPRECIATION Last weekend, I was lucky enough to be able to visit my family for the first time since COVID hit. Seeing their faces was such a blessing! Driving back, with the Sunday blues, I couldn't help but notice how flipping gorgeous the scenery is heading towards Killarney. Good gracious WE ARE LUCKY! To live in such a gorgeous county, where we are in a position to still see our loved ones (except VIC...sorry guys!). This is my grateful appreciative and thank goodness I live here and have this life post #blessed
12.01.2022 It's Wednesday- Hump Day! It's been a long week already with my 'right hand woman' Samantha away on leave. Morgs and I have been picking up her jobs as well as our own and there is A LOT on. My plant addiction has created a calm space on the office though so whilst we're running round like headless chickens answering the phone and emails to you wonderful Doctors, I'm keeping it together in my happy place. Just don't tell Greg I'm buying more plants...
11.01.2022 Erm...what was going on in the People Medical office today? Looks like Morgs and Samantha were building something...you caught us, we're up to something and I'm really really excited about it. We're launching something new at the end of October. It's been coming for a while...oh gosh, keeping secrets is so hard but I promise it's worth the wait. Don't ask me, I love surprises and I hope this one is going to blow you away!
11.01.2022 Morgs wrote up a blog about PESCIs for our PMC team and I'm sharing it around! Our little junior is coming up to 12 months with us now! They grow up so fast! If you've got any questions about PESCIs, shoot them to me and we will do our best to help you :)
10.01.2022 Barb from Peppertree Medical surprised me this afternoon by dropping in to say hello! Her lovely Practice in Warwick is looking for a permanent Doctor - 2 hours from Brisbane in a DPA, MMM5 location. No supervision available I'm afraid but plenty of great patients- Drs are earning on average 600k per annum and seeing lots of ATSI health
10.01.2022 Good Morning Doctors! I'm really excited to be working on something NEW that I hope is going to be more helpful for our IMG community :) It can be really tough going for your first job and understanding all the paperwork and rules and restrictions! I'm working on something hopefully for October at the latest so HOLD TIGHT! Exciting things are coming <3 Wishing everyone a fantabulous Wednesday! What are you all up today?
09.01.2022 The 'Health Workforce Certificate' is a requirement for Doctors who are being sponsored under certain visas. I have a lot of Doctors who get through PESCI & AHPRA and then can't get this and therefore cannot be sponsored! Make sure you've checked this out :)
09.01.2022 The People Medical Consulting Team have written a blog about the 3GA programs and their eligibility requirements! Take a read and let me know your questions!
09.01.2022 OK, we always need new Doctors & Practices joining our client base. Throwing out a who & a what we're currently working with- we have an amazing network here so let's see if we can get some people connected! - Wagga Wagga, NSW, Seeking a GP! - GR GP, seeking a GP Job within 2 hours of Perth (DPA, MMM 2+)!

08.01.2022 My crew! We had a 'Business Planning' day today, Harry Potter theme and as you can see- we went all out! After a full day thinking about how to help our amazing Doctors and Practices better...we can't wait to go all out for you watch this space!!
08.01.2022 A lot of people have asked me what I do... do I just sit here and answer a ton of questions from Practice Managers and Doctors? Actually, I run a consulting firm called People Medical Consulting and have an amazing team- Samantha, Bridgeen & Morgan. We specialise in helping Medical Practitioners! We find jobs for Doctors...and Doctors for Medical Practices. We also know what we're doing when it comes to all the paperwork. Each week, I'm going to pop up a post explaining about something my team and I do! Here you go!
07.01.2022 Morgan was amazing and looked into the changes happening for 2021. AHPRA will advise Medicare on your Specialist Status- no more HW075 & HW076 Forms after your Fellowship Exams! She wrote a whole blog on it, if you need more information
02.01.2022 Someone needs to hear this today
02.01.2022 The Health Workforce Locator Map helps you know whether a location is a DPA or not, and what MMM it is. If you're not quite sure how to use the Health Workforce Locator Map, here is a helpful video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDwgUeYnFv4
01.01.2022 This Week our ***Question Of The Week*** was...Can I appeal my 19AB Exemption Rejection? . Yes, you can. When you apply for an exemption, if you get a rejection letter then there will be instructions on how you can appeal their decision. You can use their reasons in the letter as the basis for your appeal, or to provide more supporting evidence. ... . Happy Wednesday! See more
