06.01.2022 If you live in Australia & you eat food, this affects you. A few weeks ago, the Australian govt deregulated a new kind of gene editing method (i.e a new kind of GMO) known as SDN1. Meaning that any product that’s been genetically modified using this technique is now exempt from notification &/or traceability (no labelling). These new kinds of GMOs could be inserted into our environment or worse - our food supply - & no one would know! Possible targets for this new kind of gen...etic editing include: Grains like corn, rice & soy Fruits like strawberries, grapefruit, grapes and apples Vegetables, including potatoes, cabbage, tomatoes and cucumber Animals such as cows, sheep, pigs & fish Even things like yeast & bacteria! Basically if it has DNA, it’s fair game! The amazing (& scary) part is, this deregulation happened without any of us knowing about it! As long as these SDN1 GMOs are allowed to be produced without any of kind of regulation whatsoever, you no longer have the freedom to choose whether or not you expose yourself or your family to them. So what can you do about it? There are 2 things you can do right now. 1. Email your local Labor MP using the link below, if we can get the Labor Party to disallow these regulatory changes, then we can ensure our food supply is protected. We only have until 12th November to do this, so don’t wait! 2. Share this post with everyone you know. This issue affects us all, but no-one is talking about. Let’s spread the word & let the govt know that we do not want these science experiments in our food!
