23.01.2022 As we come to the end of such an unpredictable and extraordinary year, we wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU. Having the support of the whole MS community throughout has meant so much to people living with MS. But that's not all... Our Ambassador, Stephen, also wanted to pass on a special message to personally thank you himself.... Stephen has been living with MS for 25 years. "Your support means so much to me and other people living with multiple sclerosis. I was so moved to see our community go the distance to fight MS, for hours, days and weeks at a time, to make a difference to the lives of people living with MS. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for taking part to Fight MS!" Wishing you a safe and happy holiday season, a happy new year and we hope you’ll join us for our biggest year yet in 2021! Have a fantastic break.

21.01.2022 Welcome to the MS Mega Challenge! In 2021 the MS Mega Swim social media pages will be evolving into the MS Mega Challenge. MS Mega Challenge started off as a humble swim under the brand MS 24 Hour Mega Swim.... The first MS 24 Hour Mega Swim was founded in 2001, held at Fitzroy swimming pool led by Carol Cooke AM, Paralympian. The program has since expanded to 16 swims across ACT, NSW, VIC and TAS and grown to encompass not only swim, but squash, racquetball and badminton with more sports coming soon! Stay tuned this week when we launch the first Mega Swims in 2021, starting with Fitzroy and Wollongong. Are you with me? msmegachallenge.org.au

19.01.2022 Last year the Rotary Club of Bendigo supported MS and ran the inaugural Bendigo MS 24 Hour Mega Swim! What an incredible job they did, the event was a HUGE success Rotary Club member, Libby says We were aiming at $10,000 for our first event as we were unsure of how it would be taken up. We then got carried away with optimism and put the goal at $20,000. The actual end figure was totally unexpected. The event raised $32,611, thanks to the hard work and optimism of the ...Rotary Club, outstanding fundraising by the swimmers, and the great support from Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre and the wider community! 13.01.2022 Meet Laurie At 94 years young, Laurie proves that age is no barrier. Laurie has been involved in the Shepparton MS 24 Hour Mega Swim for 10 years, whether it’s getting in the pool and doing a few laps or contributing through his fundraising efforts, you could say Laurie is a valuable supporter of the event at the very least! ... Laurie first got involved in the event through a friend, 10 years later he was awarded the Carol Cooke Award for Enthusiasm, Spirit and Courage at the Shepparton Mega Swim. A delighted Laurie said that She (Carol Cooke) gave me this award. I thought it would be a nice chance to show the public that whenever you have a problem and are struggling with it, you can do your best. Laurie has been such an inspiration to his three granddaughters that one of them drove a 10 hour round trip this year to swim with their grandfather at the event what a special moment! Keep inspiring us all Laurie, see you at many more future MS swims!

05.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all the remarkable men in our lives! Meet Father and Son Duo Dale & Jai You may have seen these two photogenic Mega Swimmers on our posters over the years. Dale and his son Jai are two great forces who have been swimming and raising valuable funds at the Fitzroy MS 24 Hour Mega Swim events. ... Dale enjoys swimming as exercise, he was quick to say yes when invited to join a team 7 years ago and has never looked back. The friendly team banter, the challenge and uniqueness of swimming at night in an outdoor pool (midnight to 5am to be exact) have kept him returning year on year. Dale’s family are his greatest supporters, in particular Jai who has always looked up to his father. Jai has been swimming alongside his father for the last 4 years, he loves being part of the event especially the fun sleepovers at the pool! The loving bond between the pair shines through at the event, a proud Dale says I’m really enjoying seeing Jai’s improvements as he gets stronger each year and it’s something we do together. It’s a great feeling at the end to add up what distance we’ve achieved Jai and I, as a team and individually, and then to share that with family and friends. Swimming at the event has been so popular in the family that his middle son Kaden has been showing some interest! We hope to see this amazing clan of swimmers at future events. Happy Father’s Day!
