19.01.2022 (Trigger Warning: Suicide & Eating Disorders) Today is World Suicide Prevention Day.This is an incredibly important day as suicide is the leading cause of death... for Australians aged between 15-44 and the suicide rate in Australia is up to 31 times higher for people with eating disorders. Let us use today as a reminder that we must come together and collectively shine a light on suicide prevention, raise awareness and encourage conversations. Sometimes we may hold back from checking in on others because we’re worried that we might make the situation worse but the truth is at times we all need to be reminded that we’re not alone, to have somebody ask us are you okay? It’s important to check on the people who seem to have it all together, the ones who are always busy, the ones who are extra sad and the ones who are really happy. We never really know what is going on with someone, even those close to us. Which is why having meaningful conversations about life’s ups and downs is so important. Asking someone if they're experiencing suicidal thoughts can be a really tricky conversation to navigate but #YouCanTalk. You don't need to be a professional, simply letting them know you care can make a huge difference. Join in the conversation today and everyday #WSPD2019. For more info: https://www.suicidepreventionaust.org/ Suicide Prevention Australia If you or someone you know needs help due to thoughts of self-harm or suicide, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800. 15.01.2022 A little regram from @theleaguewomen to remind us that everyone's busy is a little bit different. It's okay to be this busy if this is what you need #busylife #anxiety #movementforme

14.01.2022 The lessons we can learn from our little people.... after milkshake & toastie with my 3 year old she exclaims her tummy is big & full. I told her that it was big & full because of her toastie & milkshake & that after the toilet it wouldn't be so fully & big anymore! To which she replies "but I want it to be big mum just like yours!" I could choose this to be negative & send me into craziness. Whilst it highlights the influence we can have on our children, it is a gentle reminder of how children see us as parents through their little eyes. She said those words with admiration & love & is a gentle reminder that how we look shouldn't affect how we are loved #movementforme #loveyourbodyweek

12.01.2022 As a counsellor I'm definitely not in the business of telling people how to feel about the injustice of our culture's messages about body ideals. What inspired... me to write this meme is seeing over and over again people directing blame and anger towards themselves and their bodies, when the real villain is the messages we're incessantly sold about appearance, size, and beauty. . Your body is not the problem. Is it time you directed those negative thoughts and feelings towards the real problem? . @jodie.arnot.counselling @zoe.dietitian.lovewhatyoueat . Note: Changing our thoughts and feelings about our body takes time and work. It's completely normal and ok if it takes a long time and lots of steps backwards. Go easy on yourself. . . . . . #riotsnotdiets #morethanmybody #losehatenotweight #HAES #yourbodyisnotaproblem #moderationmovement #bodytrust #bodypositive #bodyrespect #bodypeace #bodypositivity #bodyimage #fatisafeministissue #fatacceptance #nondiet #dietculture #fatphobia #weightstigma #bmiisbullshit See more

07.01.2022 We are far too quick to make comment on peoples weight! Whilst you may think you are being kind and complementing a person- it can change their day, spiralling in to two days, a week or even longer. Try catch yourself if you go to comment on someone’s weight and see if you can change your words.. you’re glowing today! Or better yet just say hello and ask them how there day has been! #movementforme

02.01.2022 The above can be very challenging as parents!! Especially if like in our house, the kids emotions can be a result of our own emotions! One of our children is our measure of our family - when he is not coping with the world then generally either my husband or I (or both) are struggling with the world around us or within us! This cycle is hard - were crap, kids behaving, crap, we react even crapper & so it goes on. This is where it IS important to find that little something that gives you time away to reset, refresh and make a #movementforme what do you do????
