05.01.2022 This page finally resonated with me this week. I imagine that is why it has sat on my scanner for ages and I could never find the appropriate time to post it. As a family we had been organising a big reunion in our hometown on what would have been my grandfather's 100th birthday for Anzac day and we had all planned to march wearing his stripes. We had to postpone it of course but up until the week of lockdown I was adamant it was going ahead, when we finally had to make that ...call, I was heartbroken. As it grew closer to Anzac day I really couldn't find the energy to think about it, when I did I was sad so I kept distracting myself from it, but on the actual day my cousins shared the most beautiful photos and memories and one was a video of him with his cheeky laugh, I was so grateful to be able to hear his voice and laugh again, it filled my heart and made me laugh and cry at the same time. For that day all I could think about was that beautiful laugh, the memories of him, and the love we all have for this incredible man. My big thinking, always full of too many ideas brain was quiet for once, quietly reflecting on the life of one man and the love he has spread across 5 generations. I feel such gratitude to be born into this amazing and loving family as well as this blessed country. What are your most treasured memories?
