25.01.2022 Let's Respond instead of React // Remember it is so normal and okay to have these intial reactions. But I am here to help you to ask yourself why you are having them?... Did you grow up with a strict "no mess" parenting style? Is there OCD or perfectionism in your family? Do you have fears around things getting damaged or ruined? There is nothing bad or wrong about these things unless a part of you wants to change them, or wishes to learn ways to be more responsive and not impart these reactions to your child. Everyone parents differently and I respect that, I am here to share with you what I know works to help create freedom in your life, allowing your child to explore, while still teaching them to have responsibility, clean up after themselves and take care of their belongings. In this situation, you are allowing your child the freedom to express themselves and explore and then reminding them of the importance of cleaning up when we are done. Also if you do choose to engage your child in the cleaning up process, remember that their "help" as a one or two year old, may be one tiny little sweep. As they get older, your encouragement (rather than criticism/reaction), will lead to more help! They will become more capable, instead of less willing to participate and engage. 20.01.2022 Each Peach Pear Plum by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. For me this is a family classic. An oldie but a goodie. Sweet little rhymes tied in with I Spy mean it's more than just a book to read but creates the language around looking at the images. And the beautiful detailed illustrations compliment it perfectly.... From reading it with your baby who would enjoy and benefit from the words and rhymes and colourful pictures, to reading it with your little ones who are learning to talk, and then as they get bigger having the conversations about what they can see in the illustrations. I've even had discussions with littlies about the animals and the sounds they make - plenty of animals in here. There are also opportunities for counting when you see different amounts of animals, and opportunities to discuss colours and naming different objects, whether it's in the house or outside. A gorgeous all round book. With a fun ending too! When we are blessed to become a mother or parent, guardian or caregiver, we are given this remarkable opportunity to impart from us the wonders of our soul, to a young child. So mama, whether you play through running and jumping and throwing or kicking a ball. Or prefer to clamber on the playground, Or would rather do arts and crafts, Or tell stories from your imagination, Or sing songs and dance, Or read books, Or snuggle up on the couch, Or build forts and tunnels, Or do baking and cooking, Or practice yoga, Or roll around on the floor with some rough housing, Or play musical instruments, Or venture into the wilderness, Or go swimming, Or bike riding, Or hiking, Or whatever sets your soul alive, Remember that it is you and yours and your Truth, and the things that are real and wonderful for you. Whatever they are, they are unique to you, and your child will learn so much from having YOU as their mumma. So be you, mama, do the things that makes you feel good. 06.01.2022 Hello beautiful souls I've been a bit absent lately. Life has a funny way of being that way for me. I'm a bit of an all or nothing kind of girl, something I'm trying hard to work on and balance out some more. I decided to take a little break from posting on here because I was putting too much pressure on myself. (Yet again). I also found that my time was being spent here, when I really needed to spend it elsewhere. For example I am developing a course for beautiful mummas j...ust like yourself, if you so wish. And I realised that was where my energy needed to go. I am also studying a course in child psychology at the moment, and I saw Instagram was no longer top of my priorities. I am incredibly grateful though for all of you, and to everyone new here! Even with my absence our community has grown, and for that I am so thankful.
