19.01.2022 I have started a small painting business for myself so that I can work as I would like, to make my clients happy and satisfied at the end of our time together. Sometimes that means overcoming obstacles to get the painting done in a timely and satisfactory matter. It also means that I can put the love and passion that I had for painting back into my work that I wasn't encouraged to have while working with other companies since I left Chadwick painting in Victoria where I did m...y apprenticeship. They taught me quality control from the get go. I will not walk away from someone's home until I'm completely satisfied that I have done all there needs to do and the place just shines! I have had opposition, like people trying to tell me I'm "not qualified" (I have a certificate III in painting and decorating and 17 years experience) or I "need to be a registered painter" (actually, only if you're in the Perth/Geraldton metropolitan area and the quote is over $1000) also, I have done my registration course and am working for small quotes until I can build up the $700 fee on top of the $700 I paid for the course, to pay for the painting practitioner and contractor licence. I absolutely love my work, it makes me happy to make something crazy into something happy!! 17.01.2022 When you think of paint, most people think of the standard finishes matte, semi gloss or gloss. However, these are far from your only choices. Why not use a paint that really makes a statement? There are several special finish paints available now that create a truly stunning look, at a fraction of the cost of using other materials. Just some examples of special finishes that paint can create include: Suede the paint has a suede look and feel... Metallic get the look of precious metals with a metallic finish paint Pearl for a special lustre, pearl finish paints are ideal Satin otherwise referred to as a velvet finish Marbling creating a marbled look using paint Wood graining creating the look of wood using paint Colour washing where the under colour is allowed to show through a top coat Distressing to create an aged, antique look Crackling creates a cracked finish, where the base colour shows through Sponging to create a soft, textured look Rag rolling removes some of the top layer of paint to create a textured effect Dragging uses a brush to create fine lines It is best to use a specialty painter to create these finishes as they are experienced and have the knowledge in how to do so without ruining your walls.
