25.01.2022 One month into Covid-19.... how are you? But honestly, how are you? How has life been for you the past few weeks? How is your sleep? Your anxiety levels? Have you been having a little more alcohol than normal? What about your diet, is it better or worse? For me, initially it was a novelty to be home more, a little more Netflix time, a few too many late nights and a lot more gardening (We started a veggie patch and compost in our new home). But then I started to get more slee...py and overwhelm about the state of the world. I began to hide away from posting here. When I started to notice myself in this way, I reigned myself back to the routine that I know works for me. Early nights, early rise, exercise in morning (walks or online yoga), lots more vegetables again at each meal, simplifying things to make it easy. Creating a routine for my day. 25.01.2022 Ive recently been thinking about what I want to experience more of in 2020. Its like the usual New Years resolutions that happen on January 1st have only just had the space to process. Through the process of reflection of what I experienced last year, it has helped me to consider what experiences I want to bring to 2020. . Health and happiness always features highly on this list. I consider:... what exercise will I do? Am I still enjoying what I do now? What do I want to try? When will I do it? What am I eating? Is it working for me? what can I do better? What type of food am I loving? What recipes do I want to learn? My relationship: how do we currently enjoy our time together and what else can we do to enjoy more of that! My work life balance and clinical goal setting My green space time and scheduling in more nature time. The list can go on and on! . As the good old saying goes: if we dont have health then we dont have anything. Whats your goals for 2020? Is there something you really want to focus on? . 24.01.2022 Just like many of you at home, Ive been doing some baking. These GF DF hot cross buns from @teresacutter_healthychef are so delicious Ive made them twice. Once with raisins and once with blueberries (pictured). If you are vegan you can also make this with maple syrup. I left off the chocolate (Im not religious ). My favourite is the raisins. Definitely worth a try

21.01.2022 I’m doing some food prep for the week. There’s something so nice about that when it’s raining outside. I plan to use these egg muffins for breakfast or a quick snack. These contain a full bag of spinach, Brussel sprouts, onion, garlic, capsicum, zucchini and 3 slices of nitrate free bacon for the whole batch. I then added the mix to muffin trays and topped with egg/ cashew milk mix (mixed with Salt, pepper, paprika and chilli). ... Bake at 180deg for 20minutes

17.01.2022 Self Care With so much uncertainty at the moment, many of my clients are noticing an increase in their stress levels and anxiety. When life throws us curveballs we can start to feel powerless, unsure and fearful. During these times, it is essential that you try to increase your self care measures, even though its harder to do, because over time it will help reduce your stress levels. . Some strategies that I find really useful to help reduce anxiety are the following: ... Take an Epsom Salt Bath - add 2 handfuls to a bath and soak for 20minutes, add lavender essential oil for extra calm . Brew organic herbal teas to sip on across the day, my favourite is Tulsi tea which contains a herb holy Basil which is great for reducing anxiety . Sit in the sun and soak up some vitamin D . Do some yoga online (yoga with Adrienne is a favourite for many clients) . Burn essential oils in a diffuser: some oils that a calming are lavender, frankincense, sage, or uplifting and antimicrobial such the citrus, tea tree and eucalyptus . Show your home some love and do something there you have been thinking about doing for ages . Catch up on that book you have been wanting to read . Connect with loved ones, share how you are feeling. Support one another. We are all in this together . lots of hugs ( provided you feel healthy and well) . ensure you are getting adequate sleep, (7-8hrs minimum for an adult). Move mountains to make this happen if you arent . eat whole foods at every meal. Ensure at least 2 handfuls of vegetables daily! Its not really a surprise that I ended up as a herbalist! Ive been reflecting how as a child I never really appreciated plants but as an adult, nothing makes me more happy than a bunch of native Australian plants! 10.01.2022 I have been feeling a little uninspired about breakfast lately so I brought back into rotation a good old frittata! They are so good for busy mums and families because you can bulk cook and pack it full of vegetables ensuring breakfast, a meal often lacking in vegetables is packed to the brim! But really they are so versatile and can be used for any meal across a day. For this one, I cooked on low heat lots of brassica veg (broccoli, kalettes, and choy sum) with onions, garlic, mushrooms and zucchini. Mixed with eggs, cherry tomatoes and a sprinkle of almond milk cheese, then baked on low heat 150deg for 40 mins. Yum!

07.01.2022 Im very proud to announce that my father has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his service to the Australian Native Plants. We are so proud of you! The love of plants has been instilled in me from a young age. When I was 7 years old I travelled around Western Australia in a caravan, with my fathers mission to find rare, or sometimes not even logged Australian plants, to get cuttings to bring back so they wouldnt go extinct. 05.01.2022 A great food to help increase your zinc levels is oysters. Why do we need good Zinc levels? Zinc is an essential mineral that can impact our mental health (the lower the levels the more significant the presentation of anxiety or depression), our menstrual cycle (cycle length and mood changes during the cycle), our fertility (male and female), our detoxification capacity and our gut health! Unfortunately, I find many of clients to have low to very low levels of Zinc and it...s no a wonder they are struggling. 02.01.2022 Apple and pear crumble (GF / DF). Last night I baked some old apples and pears which really needed eating, with cinnamon and nutmeg for about 30minutes. For the topping I blitzed some pre-soaked almonds, a tsp vanilla bean paste, stevia (optional), quinoa flakes and shredded coconut. ... When the apples were ready I added the topping, pressing down to compact it all, baking for another 10 minutes until golden. Gluten free, dairy free, high protein, natural sugars. Just watch the portion sizes, easy to over do! Suitable for any time of the day
