22.01.2022 WOW!! Thank you so much Olivia for going outside your comfort zone and giving it your all to battle it out in Celebrity Apprentice Australia on behalf of Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA). Your grace and courage shone through and we are so proud to have you on our team! So close tonight ... Having lost her dad to melanoma, Olivia took on the challenge of Celebrity Apprentice to help raise awareness and funds for MIA so we can achieve our mission of zero deaths from melanoma.... You can recognise Olivia's amazing efforts - and support her fundraising for MIA - by donating here: https://donate.melanoma.org.au/olivia/ Olivia Vivian - Athlete Lime Agency #CelebrityApprentice

18.01.2022 L A S T - D A Y S - T O - H A V E - Y O U R - S A Y! What were your experiences when you, or a loved one, had melanoma treatment? What did it cost, and how could it be improved? We need feedback from as many melanoma patients and carers as possible. The ‘State of the Nation-A Report into Melanoma’ will then be compiled and presented to government. Don’t miss the opportunity to provide valuable feedback and help revolutionise melanoma policy, funding, care and support service...s going forward. The last day to have your say is this Monday, 17 May. It takes under 20 minutes to complete. http://bit.ly/PatientsandCarersSurvey #StateoftheNation #melanoma https://www.research.net/r/stateofthenationmelanoma

17.01.2022 Australian researchers lead the world in the successful trial of a new melanoma treatment! Breakthrough findings from the RELATIVITY-047 trial will be presented this weekend at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting. Professor Georgina Long AO is senior lead author for the international trial and Melanoma Institute Australia was a leading contributor of patients for the study. #Immunotherapy has transformed #melanoma treatment, but until now only 50% ...of advanced melanoma patients respond. This new drug, Relatlimab is the first immunotherapy treatment to target LAG-3, a protein in immune cells which reinvigorates the tumour fighting response. ‘This drug gives us a third immune checkpoint inhibitor to add to the treatment toolkit which may be the difference between survival or not for melanoma patients around the world,’ Professor Long said. This new treatment, and its proven effectiveness when used in combination, improves outcomes for melanoma patients even further and will likely impact #cancer treatment globally. #ASCO21 Sydney Health

He was last in Tasmania in March when he attended Melanoma March Devonport with his dad just a few days before the country went into lockdown. Enjoy the reunion Richard, and thanks for spreading the early detection message on your travels! https://gameonmole.com.au/ #gameonmole

08.01.2022 There was sun safety all round at Redlands School when student Charlie organised a crazy hat day in support of Melanoma Institute Australia. Thanks to our friends @sunsense for providing the 50+ and thanks to Charlie and his peers for their creativity and generosity. The day raised some $2,500 to support MIA’s melanoma research, but just as importantly, it provided the young students with valuable hands on lessons about sun safety and melanoma prevention. #FundraiserFriday

05.01.2022 Our much loved melanoma nurses provide direct care and support for our patients at every step of their treatment journey. From post-surgery or clinic support, to guiding through a clinical trial or support in the community our melanoma nurses are there! Quite simply, we couldn’t save lives without them, and we so often hear patients and families say 'thank you doesn't seem enough'. Please donate this tax time to support our growing network of melanoma nurses: http://bit.ly.../SupportMelanomaNurses Our pic shows melanoma nurse Sarah Lane, and her patient Lauren. We'll share more of their story soon! All donations over $2 are tax deductible. #thankyou #MIATaxAppeal21 #melanoma #nurses
