24.01.2022 Melanoma Patients Australia (MPA) is the peak national patient organisation for Australians affected by melanoma. We represent the voice of melanoma patients with government, the medical profession, cancer and research organisations. Our vision is that all Australians affected by melanoma receive the best support, information, treatment and care. We want to ensure that no one affected by melanoma walks alone. Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer. While it accounts... for just 2% of skin cancers, it causes 75% of skin cancer deaths. In recent years there have many improvements in the treatments available to those diagnosed with melanoma, especially if detected early, but unfortunately if left undetected melanoma spreads easily and can quickly become life threatening. We are so thankful for our community of supporters who help us every day to provide high quality services for free to those affected by melanoma. Join the Melanoma Movement at www.melanomapatients.org.au/get-involved/melanoma-movement/

23.01.2022 Melanoma Patients Australia extends our deepest sympathy to Penny Tovey and their families, on the passing of their beloved Peter Simpson. Peter and Penny have been incredible ambassadors for MPA and a source of support, encouragement and inspiration to many in the melanoma community. Alongside us, Peter fought for equitable access to life saving medicines and was tenacious in raising awareness of the substantial financial impacts that affect many melanoma patients. His has ...been a heartbreaking journey but fought with such passion and courage and will leave an unforgettable mark on our organisation, as it will many others. Queensland Unions have very generously set up a Just Giving fund. If you would like to honour and remember his work, both for the union movement and especially for melanoma patients, please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/simmo-fighting-melanoma Vale Peter Simpson, always remembered, never forgotten.
