25.01.2022 Some dogs get lucky
23.01.2022 A very important point to take on in this article- not to over exercise your pets while you have the extra time at home. My advice is always to increase no more than 10% activity a week, keep leash walks consistent, and if you have the time, aim for 2-3 shorter walks rather than one really long one. When our pets gets tired legs, they are more likely to get injured from a simple jump or change of direction. A reminder we are still open and operating usual hours during stage 4, as essential Physio care for your pets, and you can travel more than 5km for these appointments. Our text message is all you need to demonstrate this.
23.01.2022 I absolutely love Ellie the golden retriever. Now 11 years old. I first treated her when she was 6 for a cruciate repair. Now I see her brother for the same surgery, and maintain both of them with regular physio sessions. What a great family!
22.01.2022 Wow, what an amazing recovery Lumen, the beautiful Labrador has made from being mostly paralysed a few months ago. Now able to walk independently! Days like today make all the effort worthwhile! Well done Lumen #FCErecovery #animalphysio #hydrotherapyforanimals #advancedvetcare
21.01.2022 We love seeing Hendrix improve so much, now 11 weeks post patella luxation repair. He loves the underwater treadmill and is now walking 30 minutes a day on the lead. Almost back to his former fitness. #animalphysio #melbourneanimalphysio #underwatertreadmill
20.01.2022 With the start of the warmer weather comes some great opportunity to do exercise at the beach! Perfect for water resistance to build some leg strength and reduce strain on the joints. #waterexercisefordogs #animalphysio #beachexercise
19.01.2022 Luckiest Physio ever. Beautiful Mimi presented today with hindlimb weakness, just 3 weeks old and the sweetest little lamb.
18.01.2022 Dry Needling is very effective post cruciate repair. The needles help to reduce tension in the quad and hip flexor muscle groups which have been overworked and contracted for sometime due to the injury. Return to normal gait is the goal to minimise risk on the other hind leg of a similar injury.
18.01.2022 I have to admit this has to be the best balance training for our 4 legged friends!! So impressive!
17.01.2022 Last night we celebrated in style, welcoming Sarah and Shelley to the team (although Shelley has been with us for a year)
16.01.2022 Dear valued clients! We are still open as essential care for our animals You can travel further than 5km for essential care for animals in stage 4 restrictions We are following strict DHHS cleaning and hygiene procedures to keep staff and clients safe... Thankyou for your ongoing support for us!
16.01.2022 Eilis joined the team at MAP in 2017. Eils graduated as a physiotherapist from the University College of Dublin, Ireland, before travelling to Australia in 2008, planning to gain a further 12 months experience abroad, but is still here today. After several wonderful years of working with people in both the acute and sub-acute public health sector as well as in private practice, Eils decided to take the plunge and pursue her dream of studying Veterinary Physiotherapy. Eils... completed her postgraduate diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy in 2015, and has since completed her Masters Degree in 2016, evaluating long term outcomes for dogs post-cranial cruciate ligament surgery. When not at the clinic, Eils will be found either working in the (human) hospital working in pain management and orthopaedic rehabilitation, or out on the road providing physiotherapy to horses and their riders. When not doing anything physio related, Eils is most likely found trail running or hanging out with her two adopted hounds, Indiana Jones and Greyhound Adoption Program retiree Zafonic Josh, exploring the beautiful countryside of Victoria. 14.01.2022 So lovely to see Bobby today, 5 years from initial visit for a spinal injury where he was paralysed and non ambulant. Now 16 years old and behaving like a puppy!
14.01.2022 So lovely to be back treating again, especially this gorgeous little thing! Lauren, Phil and Eilis are rotating Saturdays. Such a great range of clients today, from Great Dane following cervical surgery, to a quads contracture in a golden retriever puppy. What a great team!
13.01.2022 Its a lovely time of year to visit the beach with your dog. One of the best and safest forms of exercise is walking/running/swimming in the water. And its good for us to get out and enjoy the balmy nights too! #dogphysio #animalphysio #exercisefordogs #altonadogbeach #hydrofordogs #swimmingdogs #melbourneanimalphysio
13.01.2022 This is Pablo, a lovely 3 year old Italian greyhound who fractured his radius/ulnar after leaping from the kitchen bench. After surgery and some Physio, Pablo is back to walking on all 4 legs again! The hard part is slowing him down
13.01.2022 Animal Physio Crew 2017 - Lauren, Eilis and Phil.
12.01.2022 Well here we are again Melbourne. We want to assure everyone that we are STILL OPEN for the Physiotherapy care of your beloved pets during the next stage of restrictions, due to the medical nature of our practice. Their well-being is of utmost importance. We have strict hygiene standards in place, and please only one owner per pet.
11.01.2022 Swimming for your dog is a great way to boost cardiovascular fitness and reduce strain on their joints. Butterscotch actually prefers to swim than walk it seems Perfect day at Williamstown beach today!
11.01.2022 Some more Lamb Spam, just because she is so cute!! Mimi presented much better today, and is nearly ready to be re homed!
08.01.2022 This is Jax, a very sweet 8 month old Moodle 6 weeks post femoral head and neck excision following hip fracture. He is doing superb, walking 30min on slow leash twice daily, and weekly hydro. The best way to avoid problems later in life is to rehabilitate properly with the right advice from the start. Well done Jax!!
07.01.2022 The best form of exercise! Butterscotch loves to swim
07.01.2022 When your clients are so relaxed after their Physio, they don’t want to move!! I think we all need a massage at this point in time, like lucky Charlie! He enjoys his monthly Physio sessions to keep him mobile and injury free following spinal surgery.
07.01.2022 I love seeing such improvement. Woody presented 2 months ago not using his Left hind leg due to fracture. Hes now 7 months old and happily using it every step! Prognosis was poor with likely amputation. The owner is extremely happy as you can imagine.
06.01.2022 What a lovely example of the benefits of underwater treadmill. This little pooch was unable to walk when he came in today, due to spinal disc disease and suspected cruciate ligament rupture. The bouyancy of the water is an excellent avenue to encourage normal gait again.
06.01.2022 I love my job! Jessie was paralysed earlier this year, and with weekly physio and hydrotherapy, she is now able to ambulate 200m and the owners are beyond excited!
06.01.2022 What a great idea for animal lovers!!
05.01.2022 Such amazing progress for Raine, who fell from a roof and suffered spinal bruising approx one month ago. He was crouch walking on his front paws for the first 3 weeks. Now walking with much more stability!
04.01.2022 How clever is Ferris doing his doggy pushups following elbow surgery! We are still operating as usual during this period, following the strictest sanitation and social distance guidelines. Our pets need our help to achieve best quality of life so please ring if you would like a consultation on 90920400. Available Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
04.01.2022 Just adorable...

03.01.2022 Mimi had her last appointment at the physio today. Thank you so much to Lauren from Melbourne Animal Physiotherapy for helping Mimi to progress from having difficulty walking to happily running and jumping now like a normal little lamb. Mimi loved the massage part of her therapy!
02.01.2022 Sunset beach walks
01.01.2022 Lumen has made incredible progress after being paralysed with a fibrocartilagenous embolism only 4 months ago. Still some work to do, but shes more independent every week we see her! Such dedicated owners make this job so enjoyable.
01.01.2022 The babies of 2018- Phils boy Callum and Laurens boy Given wish you a very Happy New Year!! 2019 is proving to be an exciting year for us as we welcome a new staff member next week- Shelley.
